Chapter 85 - Chapter 85

Absolutely beautiful. Well, actually, it's kind of weak, but I've done as much as I can about that. My soul doesn't have a lot of imprinted element to go around because of the diseases.

Hmm, it took me a minute or so to make such a hole in the stone, so it should take me a couple of times longer to make one in the reinforced carriage that will transport me to my execution.

I could just try to escape from my cell here now, but that doesn't sound realistic. This place is probably crawling with guards and patrols. If I get caught, my currently lacking muscle mass will ensure that all my resistance will be futile. Not even considering the fact that I don't know where I am in the first place or where to go, I could be in some underground prison depths that are impossible to escape from. Henbrick really sounded sure that I wouldn't escape.

So with nothing currently needing to be done, I lay down and decide to go to sleep.

As I am going to sleep though, on the lovely, hard floor, I feel a sharp pain in my left hand. It's because of the magic circle. As I was going to sleep, I subconsciously closed my left hand, which cost me two cuts on my fingers, going all the way through from my pinky to my pointer finger. Fortunately, they're not very serious, yet they still hurt an annoying amount.

I spend the rest of my five days with the blessing not doing much; there isn't much to be done with it active anyway. Now, all I really have left to do is get myself more infected with the mystery illnesses.

I spend two days attempting to do so, and I finally get another one, symbolized by my fecal matter gaining a new red tint.

With that done, I wait to see how the time needed changes.

Thankfully, the time needed does change and I regain the blessing only three days later, as opposed to the four it previously took me. If not, I would have needed to gain another disease the next time I had the chance, and at that point, I don't know if the blessing would have just lost. It's clearly not having fun with the stuff I have already.

The blessing fades out one day later than expected too, which is extremely nice and guarantees the fact that no more changes will be needed.

Now all that is left is to wait for my inevitable execution.

Whilst having the blessing active, and also nothing to do, I messed with its translating abilities. It's very odd; aside from translating spoken language, it also translates body language. I figured this out by idly looking at the guards whilst bored. With the blessing active, when they meet each other, they sometimes indulge in a handshake. But now when it's turned off, they are clearly doing it differently; they clasp each other's hands in an upright form, remove their hands from each other, and pat their hearts.

Which, first of all, is an extremely stupid form of a handshake, but a more concerning matter is that I distinctly remember giving some people in the academy handshakes, like Keswick or the soul anatomy teacher, mostly because I hated touching anyone in there. That means this blessing can change what I see and also what I do.

And if these gods gave me this blessing, that means they basically have a back door into my brain. Though it's probably more complicated than that because if they really had true dominion over my mind, I probably wouldn't have tried to escape. And they're not doing anything now either, so that probably means I'm safe for now.

Though it is safe to say, that when I get to safety and learn this stupid language everyone has been yapping in, I will find a way to remove this blessing.

One day, whilst waiting, I judge that it would be a good choice to remove the circle on my thigh. Though it's been showing me a nice rainbow hue, which is a nice escape from the bland gray of the cell, and maybe the brownish red of my chamber pot, it's wasting the element that could go to the digging circle, which it is very much in need of.

So, using my spoon, I destroy the circle by cutting the runes into unrecognizable shapes, and waiting for them to scare over.

Finally, after an annoying amount of waiting, the date is here. I figure this because three guards are currently escorting me out of my cell, I finally leaving the place after what must be two months or so.

Looking around whilst being escorted, it was a good idea not to attempt an escape from here. It is very much full of guards, I can see a group of them every second corridor or so.

Finally, after a while of walking, we make it to the exit, in front of which lies a familiar charge.
