Chapter 59 - Chapter 59

Bullies have long ago lost their meaning, since Keswick is basically always around me, the only thing they can really dare to do is maybe throw a couple of insults.

Well, all this being friends with a bastard probably isn't doing something good to Keswick's social standing, but that is not my problem, she can make as many stupid and emotional decisions as she wants.

Although, she has recently started asking annoying questions, luckily my masterful talking skills got me out of most such questions, except one, she is very hung up about what happens in my dorm. It's very stupid and none of her business but she just won't shut up about it.

She keeps saying, "What happens in that dorm of yours?", or "What, is there a dead body in there or something, why won't you let me see?" or "Come on! I let you see my dorm once, why can't you let me see yours?" and so on, like a petulant child. Well, thinking about it, the idiot basically is a petulant child, raised in a high, rich noble family, where she probably got whatever she wanted all the time, lucky bastard. Well, whatever, I still can't let the moron see the insides of my living space, for obvious reasons, but she just doesn't give up. Whatever, besides her annoying curiosity, there isn't much that I have to worry about.

Although there is a very minuscule, practically zero, negligible chance of me getting caught by the idiots of the academy, I still realize that I should make an emergency plan in case I get caught, which of course won't happen.

Thinking back to that one mercenary I hired to kill my first captive, Gadle or something, they kept him around for two months before they hung him.

So if participating in the murder of a noble is punished by death after a two-month period, what would my deeds be punished by?

Thinking about it, it'll probably be something around being tortured to death or something, maybe in front of the whole city, to make an example.

So how to get out of such a predicament?

Where would be the most optimal place to slip out and escape? Probably while being transported, when I saw the executions, the criminals were being brought out of an armored carriage.

They seemed confident in that carriage, which like the soul-bound necklaces I will take advantage of, all other ways of breaking out will probably be guarded against.

So just in case, in the very unlikely situation of me getting caught, I need to make a tool that will be able to dig through pure metal.

And Luckily whilst searching the library I find something, it looks like those spy circle glass cutters but intended for something tougher than mere glass.

But how the hell am I going to sneak this into a jail, or anywhere really? It seems quite long and impractical to carry around, about the size of my whole arm.

The only real place that can hide it that comes to mind is my special ring, but I read that special rings are easily detected by wizards, it's something about how the special element which apparently exists interacts with other elements.

An idea comes to mind, maybe I can hide it on my body, something like putting the ring on a random part of my skin, probably somewhere around my shoulders, and placing an artificial bit of burned skin on top of it, that way it will blend in well with my burned face.

The artificial skin can be enchanted with something that suppresses special elements, there's probably something like that in this library.

Yeah, sounds alright, but I should make the escaping tool first.

It took me about a month and a half to make the damn thing, because the first one I made didn't work for some reason, I couldn't find out why but it's probably because it realized that it wasn't worthy of the honor of being my tool, yes definitely that. I had to scrap it for parts and try again, thankfully it worked on the second try. Testing on some metal I have lying around, it cuts through it like butter, very nice.

Looking at my spatial ring I sigh and take out some bandages, and emergency food I had stored in it, just to fit the damn thing in.

Over the past month and a half along with making the escape tool, I managed to cast my first fireball by hand, considering that it's the easiest spell to cast with one's hand and the many, many hand cramps I had to endure just to get to here, it will probably take me a long time to get used to hand cast magic.

Researching how to make artificial magic-blocking skin, seems to be an annoying task, which I suppose should be expected.

It requires me sifting through a lot of gibberish for another month to finally make some sort of blueprint for the design.

Finding the material was actually easy, it should be made of an alchemical material that these folks invented to mimic skin, which is mostly used for experiments. The most annoying part was finding runes that would work with such a material as a base, the runes and arrays of artificing changes depending on what base you use to write runes on, and apparently using skin as a writing material is its own thing, which I had to research.

Nevertheless, the blueprint for the item is completed, now all that is left is to put it together. But one day, as I am walking back to the dorms with Keswick as always she says something really annoying.

"Hey Jeldard."

"Yes?"

"Let me see your dorm."

"No."

"Come on please, I really want to know."

"How many times do we have to go through this?"

"You know what, I don't care, you are going to show me your dorm today. Or else I will actually believe you got someone's body in there and tell the academy staff."

I take a deep breath in "Alright, fine, you can come, tomorrow, I need to clean my dorm it's not currently ready for guests I don't even have tea."

"Aaa, finally, I guess I get to finally see what you have going on in there." She says whilst nudging me on my side, the annoying bugger.
