I woke up with Lucy hugging me, her soft hair tickling my cheeks.
She was still naked. Her long brown hair was covering her face.
I could hear her little snore while she had a happy smile on her face.
I looked at her while she was sleeping and felt some strange feeling.
Something inside me told me that she was different from other girls I dated.
**
Yes… I dated two other girls in my past… both of them were from my hunter organization… They died… their names were "Misara" and "Scarlet". They were hunters like me.
But what did I mean by "Different"? Was it something about her kind nature? That she has no evilness inside her? That she's sensitive and fragile like a flower? None of these… there was something about her, something I couldn't explain… but it wasn't a negative feeling. Lucy is an amazing girl. Maybe with her, I'll be happy one day. Maybe she will really be my wife? Who knows.
**
I smiled at her while she was still asleep. She was beautiful.
Her skin was so smooth, her lips so pink, her hair was so silky, and the gentle aura around her was of a beautiful white color.
"I know that my destiny has something awful reserved for me, that's why I won't put Lucy's life at risk." I said to myself while looking at the roof.
I then noticed that the hole that I made to fight the demon was completely fixed.
"What the- how is that possible?" I thought.
There was no way that a human could have repaired that so fast.
"Is she a witch?" I thought to myself. "But they only existed in legends."
While I was lost in my thoughts, I noticed that Lucy opened her eyes.
"Good morning sleepyhead," she said while kissing me on the cheek.
"Morning… I'm not the sleepyhead... I actually woke up before you." I giggled.
"Uhm... Are you sure about that?" Lucy then indicates the sign of a small kiss on my chest.
"W-what?" I asked.
"Don't underestimate me, husband" She giggled.
"I wouldn't dare doing such thing..." I answered while blushing a little and looking away.
We both laughed.
Then we left the bed together and got dressed.
I wonder what her father would've said if he knew what happened between me and Lucy. It'll surely be a disaster.
Another day has started, but from now on, my life would have changed a lot.
Me and Lucy went downstairs and we found that her father was actually preparing breakfast and he seemed very happy.
"Good morning, Father!" Lucy said happily.
"O-Oh! G-Good morning Lucy!" He replied, surprised a little bit.
"Father? Are you okay?" She asked.
"Uhm... Y-yes but..." He then looks down at our hands. Me and Lucy were holding hands. I blushed.
"F-Father! Yes! Me and Alex are now a couple and we are planning to marry one day!" She said, blushing and squeezing my hand harder.
I didn't know what to respond, I was pretty embarrassed.
"That is great news! I'm happy for both of you!!" Lucy's father hugged both of us.
I looked at Lucy's father with confusion.
He was smiling brightly.
Wasn't he supposed to be upset by this situation?
"You're going to have many children! You better start saving money for your future kids!" He continued.
"Y-yeah! Thanks!" Lucy said with excitement.
Children? Money? Didn't all of that happen WAY too fast?
I remained silent, I didn't want to make the situation more embarrassing.
"Alex..." Lucy's father then looked at me.
"Do you really love my little Lucy? My precious daughter? Will you promise me that you'll take care of her for the rest of your life?" He asked, sounding a little bit threatening.
"I... Promise." I had no choice but to say this.
Lucy's eyes were sparkling with joy. That was the first nice thing I said to her.
"Good boy!" He said, after giving a little pat on my back. "Go on, little love birds, breakfast is yours.
Other guests already left." He added, while offering us a seat on the table.
"Thank you!" Lucy said cheerfully.
"Of course! Now hurry up!" He insisted, while pointing his fork on his plate.
I sat next to Lucy and she held my hand almost the whole time.
Such an awkward situation, but I had to endure it. I didn't want to make Lucy sad so I acted like she wanted.
We held hands and we ate a big breakfast together.
But during our little reunion, I sensed some danger in the inn, just like this night.
"It's day... It's impossible for a vampire to attack here..." I thought.
"Alex, is something wrong?" Lucy asked me.
"Y-Yeah, I was just overthinking." I said. "pssst! I'll tell you once we'll leave this inn." I whispered.
"Uh... Oh, okay." Lucy looked a little worried.
I could feel some weird presence near us.
"D-don't worry, everything is fine! Don't look at me with that face!" I reassured her while eating another slice of bread.
We finished our breakfast quickly and we prepared ourselves to get out of the inn.
I went upstairs and grabbed my sword Xanderyl, some healing herbs, my sun poison, and my silver knives.
*
The sun poison is a special oil made by the vampire hunters to protect themselves from vampires. Hunters usually wet their neck with this oil so that in case they would get bit by a vampire, the creature would die by drinking a poison and won't suck their blood out. The oil is a mix of a cherry blossom flower of Lungi and a special plant named "Sunfire" which can only be found in the demon realm of Yelrock.
*
"Are you ready?" Lucy asks with concern on her face.
"Sure! Let's go!" I answer with a fake cheerful voice. "See you later, Mister!" I added.
Lucy's father waved at us and smiled. But right before we left, with the corner of my eye, I managed to see that he put something in his pocket.
As soon as we walked out of the inn, the sun rays hit our faces and we were blinded. It was 9 am.
Everything seemed normal just like the other days but not in my eyes.
Even though I saw nothing wrong in the city, my senses told me that somehow I wasn't safe.
"Uhm... Alex? Can you tell me what is happening?" Lucy asked while looking at me.
"Well, I sense danger. Even though we're in broad daylight, I can't help but feeling a sense of danger." I said while looking around.
Lucy looked a little bit scared. "W-What do you mean with "Danger"? Is there some vampire?" She asked.
"I don't know, Lucy. Stick with me for the whole day. I'll protect you." I said while looking her right in the eyes.
"I'll protect you" These were the last words I said to Misara before she died right before my eyes.
"... O-Okay, my dear... If you say so..." She then grabbed my hand.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"We're going to act like nothing is wrong. We're just gonna act like always." I said.
"Oh." She sighed. "Okay then, I'll listen to you." She then took me by the arm.
"Then this will be our first day as a couple." She smiled.
I sighed. "Fine, but don't you dare walking away from me. NEVER!" I softly shouted.
Lucy jumped a little bit in surprise. "O-oh, Y-you scared me." She said, giggling, but her hand was shaking a little.
I felt truly sorry. "I'm sorry, Lucy..." I looked down.
"N-no... there's no need to apologize." She rubbed my cheek with her hand, comforting me.
I looked up to her. "I won't scream at you again, I promise."
She nodded and smiled. Then we continued our walk.
"So, where are we heading?" She asked.
"We're going to the armory shop. The owner has some stuff of mine that had to be repaired." I replied.
"Uhm... Okay." Lucy seemed a little bit disappointed.
"Mh? Is there something wrong, Lucy?" I asked.
"No, no... Of course not! Nothing's wrong!" She said with a half smile while looking away.
"Okay..." I looked at her with a strange look.
We then walked through the main streets of Lungi. Everything seemed peaceful and quiet. There wasn't any sign of trouble or anything like that.
I looked at Lucy who was still following closely behind me while holding my hand. Her cheeks were flushed red and she was biting her lower lip.
I didn't mind it at all since I just kept looking around us, searching for the source of my awareness.
We kept walking and walking until we arrived at the armory near the paradise alley.
The paradise alley is a place in Lungi where at night everyone has fun in "every" way. But during the day, it's just a normal place where people walk.
"A-Alex… this place is…" Lucy said while blushing and squeezing my hand a little bit harder.
"Do you want to do it here...?" She whispered.
"Don't worry, the armory is here." I replied.
"…You're so dense sometimes…" she mumbled.
"Did you say something?" I replied.
"N-No, not at all" Lucy giggled.
"Oh! We arrived!" I said while opening the door of the armory.
I entered inside and started looking for the owner.
I found him. A tall man with dark hair, a muscular body, and a very handsome face.
He was wearing leather armor.
He's Michael.
He once was a vampire hunter like me, but after he met his current wife, he decided to leave his job to stay with her. I was pretty younger when I met him 4 years ago and I also was in a relationship with a girl named Scarlet back then.
"Hey, Mikey! How are you doing?" I greeted him...
