Chapter 27 - What was Delilah?

"Wait. Don't tell me I am inside the body of a monster!" Katherine gasped, making the system raise its brows at her.

"She wasn't a monster," Daisy raised its voice, and Katherine smirked.

She never expected Delilah to be a monster either, but-

Just like Katherine had thought, the system indeed reacts when she disrespects Delilah, no?

"Was that why she had these weird things going on around her? She appeared innocent when in reality she was just a cunning girl who was hiding her personality from others. Are you sure she committed suicide and didn't possess someone else's body as her next target since she couldn't get anything through this body? And I was given the task to fulfill her destiny?" Katherine asked, faking surprise.

"That's enough! Delilah wasn't like that! You have no right to talk about the dead like this! You ungrateful -"

'She was a hybrid, wasn't she?' Katherine interrupted the system with a calm expression, and the system stopped talking immediately.

'She... Uh... She wasn't exactly a...,' the system stuttered

"Even if she was a hybrid, what was she?" Katherine scowled, not understanding.

There was no way she was going to believe that Delilah just had an elemental wolf and it was all because of that.

"Do you believe in fallen angels?" The system asked.

"Fall angels?" Katherine asked as she neared the small cliff, looking at the beauty with a soft amused smile as she was winning this battle with her system.

"Fallen angels?" Someone asked behind her, and she froze in her place.

A chill traveled down her spine.

This voice...why was this voice so full of power and dominance? Why was it familiar and unfamiliar at the same time?

Katherine gulped before she turned around and looked at the man, dressed in royal attire with his face covered with a mask, only his eyes visible.

Katherine squinted her brows.

"Were you eavesdropping on my self conversation?" Katherine asked.

"Self-conversation?" The man asked, stepping closer to her, his enchanting and intoxicating smell immediately making Katherine sense a weird familiarity from him.

She raised her gaze to look into the man's eyes, the enchanting glowing blue color, making her take a step forward subconsciously.

"The time when I talk to myself to figure out things," Katherine answered, her gaze landing on his muscular hand, as she tried to decipher the man in front of her.

"You are the elder Prince, aren't you?" Katherine asked after a few seconds.

The man didn't say anything for quite some seconds before taking a deep breath and walking to the edge of the cliff.

"You are here to commit suicide again?" He asked.

Katherine scoffed at the choice of his words before widening her eyes when she realized her mistake.

"I... I didn't mean to scoff. I am sorry," Katherine quickly bowed in apology.

No wonder Tianna told her to stay in her room. Now that she looked at her own behavior, maybe she deserved to stay inside only. Katherine clenched her teeth.

"Hmm," The man hummed slowly.

"I... I just... Don't you think this place is a bit too low for committing suicide? The most I would get from this place would be a broken leg. And seeing how my hand is already broken, I don't think I would fancy another broken limb," Katherine whispered, looking at the man from the corner of her eyes.

She observed him carefully.

Broad shoulders, muscled body, not too bulky, but not thin either. Just the perfect figure. She raised her gaze, reaching his jaws.

He had sharp jaws too and the little hint of his pink lips that she was getting from below the mask since she was standing adjacent to him, made her gulp.

A blush crept up her neck for a man that she hadn't even seen the face of for the first time. She averted her gaze from him and looked at her feet.

'Get a grip, Katherine. How can your heart beat just by looking at a stranger's lips?' Katherine scolded herself, trying to reason with herself how wrong it was.

The Elder Prince turned to look at her, seeing her lost in her thoughts.

"Are you not afraid of me?" The man asked after some time, catching Katherine's attention.

Katherine looked up, gazing into his eyes before she sighed.

"Of course, I am afraid of you. Or why would I run from the royal palace and come here?" Katherine asked, making the man hum lowly and look forward.

"However, I am not afraid of you because you are so powerful and the named monster of the royal Kingdom," Her words took the man by surprise, and it showed in the way he turned to her briefly.

"I am afraid of you because I don't think I will be able to control my mouth and might get myself into problems. That's why I was asked to stay out of your sight," Katherine murmured before copying his stance and looking forward toward the forest that looked so serene.

A faint smile appeared on her face.

Her heart felt at peace, a complete contrast to what she was feeling earlier when Daisy wasn't answering her.

"I heard about you from Maximus," The man said after a few seconds passed, and Katherine choked on her own saliva before looking at the Elder Prince.

Judging from all their interactions and how she used to threaten him with that daddy word, Katherine was sure he mustn't have any good things to say about her and she gritted her teeth.

That b*stard probably ruined her first impression in front of the elder Prince.

"I swear I am not the kind of girl he depicted," Katherine quickly added, and an amused smile appeared on the Prince's face.

She could see the little smile from under his mask, her heart thumping loudly when he licked his bottom lip, making her feel even more of a pervert.

"Is that so?" The elder prince commented, not saying anything else.

However, Katherine felt like a lost case.

Was this what boys feel when they look at beautiful girls? Was she turning into a legit maniac because of the loss of romance in her life?

Or wait... Could it be that these were Delilah's body's desires?

Yes. That has to be the case. She was a perfectly disciplined girl. She can't have such lewd thoughts. Katherine nodded at herself in understanding.

The system, which was hearing everything that Katherine was thinking, rolled its eyes at the girl's way of self-consolidation.

"Coming?" The elder Prince turned around, his words catching her attention and Katherine smiled.

She quickly nodded.

However, as soon as she stepped forward hurriedly, her foot became entangled with her own and she fell forward.

Katherine closed her eyes, expecting the fall since she couldn't do much with her broken hand, but before she could land on the ground, the elder Prince held her hand, saving her from the fall.

"Thank you," Katherine smiled, waiting for him to pull her up.

The elder Prince looked into her eyes as if he was searching for something, something that should be there in her eyes but wasn't, his hold tightening before he pulled her back, her hand instinctively landing on his chest.

Katherine's eyes widened, and she quickly stepped back, taking a bigger step than needed.

'FML,' She groaned inside her head.

Her foot slipped backward and she would've fallen into the cliff if not for the prince who placed his hand on her waist right on time, saving her from falling and breaking the leg as she feared.

Heat seeped into her skin from where his hand was and she became even more conscious of herself.

Her heartbeat fastened. She took a deep breath before looking at the man who was already looking at her.

Katherine noticed how the man didn't even budge from his place in both incidents while saving her and did it so effortlessly.

He was really nicely built. Just her type. Her eyes beamed.

He was the kind of man in front of whom she would be ashamed to show her feminine side.

"You are indeed a handful," the Elder prince finally commented, and Katherine blushed before looking down.

She wanted to tell him that it was just an accident when they heard someone's footsteps approaching them.

"Elder prince, what are you doing here? I thought you wanted to go to the royal palace," Jacob rushed to where the prince was, finally taking a deep breath now that he found the man.

His gaze shifted to the elder prince's hand on Miss Delilah's waist.

Jacob's eyes beamed, and he looked at the girl with a smile, who looked back at him as if he were some kind of creep.

"Excuse me," Katherine whispered before she walked past Jacob.

"Sir -" Jacob started.

"You have a very bad timing. Do you know that, Jacob?" The elder prince asked, and the subordinate apologized.

"I understand, sir. Please forgive me, sir," Jacob said while the elder prince looked at the back of the leaving girl.
