Chapter 9 - Interlude One

Tadomeki accompanied her all the way home. After his confession they didn't spend that much time on the roof, rejoining the others shortly. Ren must have told Tsumigi what happened, because she wasn't as cheerful as she was just a moment ago. She looked sadly at him and murmured she needed to go home early.

"I feel so guilty... But what was I supposed to do? I hope this time she will stop looking up to me so much..."

After Tsumigi left, Tadomeki told Ren to wait for him.

"I feel even more nervous than when confessing to her... It's going to be okay; he's my best friend after all. I believe in him."

- Is something on your mind, Tadomeki? - Akari asked him as they walked side by side.

He responded to her with a warm smile. For whatever reason, she looked even more beautiful to him than before. If he could, he would just look at her for hours without end.

- I'm just thinking about too many things at once. Don't worry.

When they reached her doors before she entered her house, she turned around and asked:

- Do you promise you'll wait a little bit more for my confession?

- I promise.

- Thank you - she smiled from ear to ear and kissed him on the cheek.

He came back to Ren, who was sitting on the bench in the place they parted ways before.

- Took you a while. So how did it go?

- Ren, you are the greatest friend I could ever ask for. I don't even know how to repay you for everything - he replied, giving him a cold can of soda.

- Not with a drink, that's for sure - Ren smirked - Don't worry, you don't need to repay me. You would say that I was the one repaying you.

Before Tadomeki could ask what he meant, Ren interrupted him.

- Tsumigi got pretty upset. I hope she'll feel better tomorrow... Anyway, what did you want to talk about? You sounded so serious when you asked me to wait for you.

"Will he believe me? I can show him some proof, but... Stop it. You decided you needed others help. I can't back away now."

- Ren, it's going to be a long story. You may not believe anything I say, but I have proof for everything. Will you listen to me?

- Of course. We are best friends after all, right? - he smiled.

Tadomeki took a deep breath.

- Ren... I died. I died many times, in fact Seeing the shock on his friend's face, he sighed.

- As I said, it's a long story...
