Jason stood atop the windswept cliff, gazing out at the corrupted wastelands stretching to the horizon. The air hung heavy with the ominous shadow slowly enveloping the world. There seemed no end to its creeping influence, poisoning all it touched. But its victory was not assured. Not yet. Out there, faint glimmers of light and hope still clung on, though smothered under the pall. So long as they endured, the fight was not finished. Jason knew what needed to be done. What only he could do now, no matter how it wrenched his heart. The supreme sacrifice must be made.
