I. The Burden of Leadership
Jason sat alone watching sunrise after another sleepless night wrestling with burdens of leadership. Since defeating the Shadow Lord and becoming humanity's champion, the pressures of responsibility had grown crushing.
Endless duties awaited daily - stabilizing fractured regions, mediating conflicts, training youth brigades in the way of heroic peacekeeping as Elysium marshals. Each act of managing expanding duties kept Jason from field service he cherished. But someone had to coordinate the cause from headquarters, even if it meant confining his Supreme System gifts to administrative work.
Well-meaning counsellors told Jason occasional rest was wise. But he could not justify leisure when so many needed help rebuilding lives. This was his purpose, through hardship or not. With such power came obligation to work tirelessly for a justice still young and fragile. To do less would betray the privilege entrusted to him.
