How far are the stars from where you're at right now? Despite each star looking similar in size from where we stand, some are closer or farther then others. Yet, no matter where you look at them from, they still shine brightly to us, not for us..
Don't delude yourself, thinking they shine for you, they shine because of whatever purpose they are fulfilling right now. Just as we dress nice to impress, because it's trending, or out of comfort; we have our own reason. With such freewill, why would I waste my life on my parents, on a girl that won't like me unless I take her out, on a teacher that get's paid extra for producing 'talented' student, etc.?
...
There was a slight breeze in the dark yet glowing grassland. The stars shone bright but the full moon was brighter, showing itself to be more significant to our lives. But despite its important, it couldn't compare to the mysteries and beauty behind the billions of stars that dotted the sky.
Amongst the grassland was a single tree standing firm with its branches swaying ever so slightly due to the wind that appears wherever needed. It's large trunk had scratches and wounds from various sources in all directions, with the most noticeable being arrows sticking into the tree.
This lone tree was the only one within 10 meters, making it stand out when one got close to it. Looking past the area the tree stood however was a forest of similar trees, albeit a lot more taller and healthier looking.
'Where... am I?' A man under the lone tree struggled to open his eyes.
What caught his attention were first the stars, the leaves from the tree his head was leaning against, then the feeling of being unable to move his body.
'Zenith..' Despite him trying to adjust to his current situation, he instinctively assured himself of his own name. This name was his and he was sure of it.
Before Zenith could even observe the situation he was in and answer the questions in his mind, he began to hear noises that weren't the wind..
*Rustle Rustle*
Across from Zenith were a group of 3 people coming out the forest and into the grassland, 'Movement.. movement?'
Zenith looked on the ground around him and re-examined his surroundings.
The people that he saw moving looked very similar to the hundreds of people laid around him and the tree. He had disregarded them all because of the current dilemma of trying to figure out what this whole situation he was in was.
He continued to stare at the people who currently were examining some of the bodies.
"Dheifidpw!~~~~~" Zenith could hear noises coming from one of them, but he didn't understand anything or what it meant.
The noise would change in pitch, sometimes going lower and higher, loud and soft.
While observing them, a strange feeling began to assault his senses.
*Thump.. Thump..*
He felt a beating in his chest, followed by what felt like the wind coming from his chest and moving throughout his body!
This was his blood he instinctively knew, making it's way from the heart that was beginning to beat faster to the rest of the body.
The blood flowing could be felt by Zenith as previously he could only feel his head and even that was a faint feeling from his eyes and ears.
As the blood flowed to the tips of his fingers and feet, he slowly regained control of his body. Just in time too because throughout he had kept his eyes on the 3 individuals who were getting closer to him.
However, there were a lot more bodies around him compared to the outskirts of the grasslands next to the forest.
Zenith didn't know anything about these people, or what a person really was. In fact, he actually was clueless about a lot of things!
Other then his own body and what to call things like stars being stars and people being people, he didn't know what they were outside of the names he came up with for them!
Because of this, a chill was felt in the back of his neck traveling down his spine.
'Don't die..' He began to think this to himself.
If these 3 people discovered him, he knew what awaited wouldn't be a good ending.
But was a ending bad? If everything stopped, wouldn't he not need to deal with this weird situation and just go back to sleep?
But then he looked up, noticing the many stars that continued to shine. What must they endure to stay so high in the sky? He didn't think on it much, but he was very curious on what laid outside this forest.
What were those shiny sharp objects in the people's hands? The clothing they wore? Where did they come from? Where did he come from?
With that, he began to observe.
He first looked at the people, noticing how they pushed the sharp shiny object into the necks of anyone they checked.
'Weapons..' He deduced that these shiny objects were weapons, which he quickly deduced to be something a being can use to hurt and kill others.
Of course it could be used for other stuff he felt, but he decided he'd think about that later.
He looked around the bodies that laid closet to him and found a wooden item with a shine at the end.
The weapons the 3 people had were long, sharp and shiny. While the one next to him was a small yet curved shiny object attached to a wooden stick.
'Metal.. Axe..'
These names continued to instinctively appear in his mind as he thought about the objects before him.
He deduced the axe to be a weapon as well, so to not catch the attention of the others he slowly moved his arm and grabbed a hold of it.
It was slightly sticky and wet. But he continued to hold onto it firmly, 'Bloood..'
He couldn't see too well but he knew that this sticky feeling was from the blood from one of the people near him.
The axe wasn't long, but it gave Zenith renewed confidence that he could solve this situation.
Having a weapon in hand, he began to observe himself.
He laid with his head against the tree with no clothing. Everyone else around him had all kinds of clothing he couldn't bother to try and deduce, but he knew they would provide protection.
However, it was too late.
"Ahbeodh? ~~~~~" A person with a higher pitch voice from the group began to communicate while looking at Zenith.
Zenith had his eyes closed almost shut but left them slightly open so he could observe.
When he was observing all the bodies around him, he noticed he stood out like a sore thumb!
He had no clothes, no visible injuries and was laid under the tree neatly.
He didn't move his body or try to cover himself because he saw that person was very close to him, so he didn't risk it.
"NCBMEOX!!" The person who had gotten closer to him had long hair and had a chest larger then the other two.
'Woman and.. Man..' As Zenith came up with the names for the different type of people, the woman in front of him bent down and was about to grab onto his wrist.
*SHHHK!*
Zenith was waiting for her to get closer and was waiting to see what the woman would do when she got close to him.
He used his right shoulder, arm and wrist to move the small axe he's been holding onto this whole time, swinging it into the wrist of the woman!
"Huh-" The woman moved her arm up to her eyes only to see her hand dangling by the remaining skin and bone.
Zenith wasn't able to fully slice off her wrist, but that wasn't on his mind. Seeing the woman paying attention to her wrist and not him, he immediately seized the situation!
*SHHHK SHHHK SHHK!*
He used his legs and other hand to support himself so he could sit up, enabling him to reach farther. He first swung towards her ankle, then up to her calf and finally her thigh!
"AHHHHHHH!!!" The woman finally came to her senses, terror and the fear of death engulfing her entire being.
Only a couple seconds had passed during this whole exchange. First her wrist almost got sliced off, so she instinctively checked it thinking this might've been a terrible dream.
Then a second after she began to feel intense pain where her wrist was sliced as she realized it was real. Before she could even comprehend it all she felt pain in her left leg before losing balance!
"HADJMR!!" One of the men turned over and saw the situation, immediately yelling to get the attention of the other man.
Seeing that the woman in front of him was no longer a threat, he slowly tried to stand just as how the people in front of him could.
But then he fell..
He hadn't learned how to stand yet let alone walk! He barely knows what his name is, so let alone the full capabilities of his body it was a miracle he was able to figure out how to handle the axe.
Nonetheless, the 2 men were charging over to him, trampling over the many corpses in the process.
'Move!!' Zenith willed himself and grabbed hold of the tree with his free hand to support himself.
He leaned himself against the tree and refocused his attention in front of him.
The woman who was still the closest to him was rolling on the ground in pain, holding onto her hand in hopes of putting it back together, tears rolling down her distorted face.
One man was faster then the other. Despite him having the same sword as the rest, he had a larger and taller body.
Zenith knew that this man would be his biggest threat compared to the rest!
Seeing the man sprinting with all his might, with 2 hands holding onto the sword ready to slice him, Zenith tried to come up with any way to fight.
'Can't do what I did to the woman, she was very close. He's coming at me very fast with the full intent of using his sword.. Counter?' The word counter came up in his mind. Although Zenith was very unfamiliar with everything, information seemed to come naturally to him when he thought hard about something.
He began to focus on the man and the word counter, soon realizing that because of how fast the man is moving towards him, he can use that against him..
"RAHHHH!!!" The man roared as he was finally about to reach the naked boy standing up against the tree.
He didn't understand who it was or why they attacked his partner, but he couldn't care less as he knew that this boy was as good as dead seeing as how he stood with his back against tree, cutting off his own path of escape.. How did this boy manage to even survive the earlier battles?
Before the man could make another step however, he saw something cover his vision before his head was pushed back, causing his eyes to look straight into the starry night.
Green, blue, red, purple, all of these colors dotted the sky. Even with this being what the man sees in his final moment of life, the stars will continue to shine whether he existed or not.
When Zenith finally thought of a way of how he could use the speed against the man, he immediately acted on it.
His right arm was down by his side holding the axe while his left was leaned against the tree to stabilize himself as he still wasn't used to standing.
'Counter!' Zenith then immediately tensed his shoulders and arms before finally moving his arm slightly up before flicking his wrist.
He threw the axe with a flick of his wrist from such a weird angle!
*WOOOSH- SHHHK!*
The axe dug straight into the forehead of the man, the force causing his head to be pushed back. His body however was moving forward. So once the man was struck, his body went limp and fell in a weird way, looking like a deformed doll.
Although the counter was successful, it didn't come without a price.
Zenith felt a lot of pain in his right wrist, he knew that he used too much force and can't risk using his right arm anymore unless he wishes to break his wrist.
"AHHH RAJNE!!!" The last man seeing his other comrade go limp immediately stopped running towards, Zenith.
He stared at the scene for a few seconds before running back into the forest, shouting and screaming words Zenith couldn't understand.
Sweat cover Zenith's naked body which was steaming hot from the adrenaline, causing the slight night breeze to have a more satisfying cooling effect on him.
Seeing the last man run away caused confusion at first but then a sense of relief.
'Move..' He knew that if he stayed in this area full of death any longer he'd also end up like the many corpses here.
"Ahhh… Ahhhh…" The woman's voice turned hoarse and weak from the constant screaming and crying.
Zenith hadn't forgotten about her but was too busy in his thoughts about what to do.
Turning to look down at the woman, he remembered that he was naked and this woman along with the many other bodies here had clothes.
He looked around only to see that most of the corpses and their clothing were damaged or were simply too big to fit him.
This woman's clothes however were almost perfect for him. Zenith wasn't as tall as the big man but not as short as the other man. He was almost the size of the woman just slightly taller.
His build and muscles were as small as the woman's as well, so with that he crawled over to the woman who was near him.
"AHHHHH!" The woman immediately begin to flail around, trying to kick and scratch with the arm and leg that wasn't damaged.
Seeing this, Zenith grabbed her sword with his left hand and pierced it into the shoulder of the other arm and the thigh of the kicking leg.
"aaaaAAAAAAHHHHH!" The woman instinctively began screaming.
Earlier she was screaming as more of a threat and a way to hopefully scare the man. But now her mouth forced its way open and began screaming on its own out of sheer pain and terror.
Seeing as she wasn't able to resist as much, he pulled the clothes off her and wore them.
Although they were sticky and warm from the woman's blood, it felt a lot more comfortable then being naked.
'Leather.. skirt and shirt.' This was the name Zenith came up with for this clothing and it's material he was now wearing.
The moon and stars presence were still ever apparent in the night sky. Evidently, not much time had passed during this whole situation.
Zenith right arm was basically useless now that his wrist was overused. He moved it back in place noticing it felt off, causing a bit of relief but the pain was still there.
'Shield..' He came up with a solution to his problem, he'd use his right arm to shield himself from attacks.
He obviously wasn't planning on taking the attacks with his arm, so he came up with a way to have something to protect himself.
He used the sword as a way to support himself as he walked. He knew that if he didn't begin working on his walking now, how would he ever survive?
He slowly made his way over to the corpse of the big man, stabbing countless corpses along the way with his sword.
He looked and noticed this man wore leather shirt and pants, but this wasn't what he needed. He cut the pants to reveal the thigh of the man.
He then compared the size of the leg to the arm, 'this will do.' he concluded.
Zenith grabbed the sword and began sawing off the man's left leg. Once he got to the bone, he had to hack down on it to cut through.
This damaged and dulled the sword however, so he threw it out and found a nearby axe similar to the one in the man's head.
He used this hack to cut through the remaining bone and flesh, fully removing the leg from the man.
He pulled the pants off the leg so it laid bare before him. He then cut the leg from the knee, so only the upper thigh portion of the leg and the calf side remained.
The thigh was a lot larger then his arms and legs combined.
He struggled to remove the bone from the inside of the thigh using a nearby dagger, he then put his whole arm through the inside, of the thigh.
The bone was nearly the size of his own arm so he was able to keep the thigh wrapped around his arm.
He then used the ripped pants and wrapped it around his forearm to prevent the thigh from slipping off. Although Zenith was sloppy with tying a knot, he was able to eventually manage after a minute of trial and error.
Although he knew this thigh wouldn't be the best compared to the hard tree he was leaning on in terms of defense, it was still better then nothing.
Zenith looked back at the woman who still laid there unconscious. Seeing she was no longer a threat, he began his way into the forest, 'Beyond here.. What lies beyond these trees?'
His silhouette slowly faded into the shadows of the forest. The hundreds of corpses already having attracted plenty of bugs and various night animals such as owls.
This world was just one of many, zenith was just one of many, the stars were just one of many, everything was special when looked upon solely. But when compared to hundreds similar, it's significance would drop.
He however wasn't aware of his case, which could be said to be a miracle amongst the thousands of galaxies that existed in this universe.
