The remaining voices yelling from excitement earlier suddenly close off. Darkness began outweighing the artificial light, lowering the luminance of Wonderland, which then altered the colour of everything and everywhere to ash moonlight glow.

Lazaros didn't look my way again. He simply turned and charged towards the emerging Void entities, his sword drawn and blazing with an altered otherworldly glow.

The shadowy figures converged from the swirling mist, mere faceless entities. They bore the shape of familiar faces, distorted and twisted into grotesque mockeries of real people. My friends, my colleagues, even innocent bystanders – all warped into nightmarish mockeries by the encroaching darkness.
