And so, finally, the next day arrived.
The warm rays of the sun streaming in through the window gently struck my eyes, prompting them to open.
Ema still had her head resting on my chest, peacefully asleep, while her legs moved, rubbing against the bed sheets.
It was a tranquil scene, but in that moment of awakening, I decided to finally begin my plan.
I got up, went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and freshen up, then headed downstairs to prepare breakfast for Ema.
I had been a guest in this house since I was a child, so it felt like it was literally my home.
I had even lived here for a while.
Ema's parents were out for work errands and wouldn't be back until next Wednesday.
"What time is it?" I asked myself. I glanced up at the wall clock in the kitchen and saw that it was still 7:30.
"It's too early, but it's okay," I said, starting to prepare a nice breakfast for both of us.
I was alone, Kanna was definitely sleeping like a log, so I didn't have any disturbances.
I took some bread, chocolate spread, and a bit of milk mixed with cocoa powder.
It wasn't a five-star hotel breakfast, but I knew Ema would appreciate it.
She loves the little things.
So I put everything on a tray and headed towards her room.
When I arrived, I saw that Ema was still fast asleep. "What a lazybones..." I said, sighing softly.
"Ema, wake up!" I said, approaching her.
"Mmmh~" she mumbled, turning to the other side.
"Ema, wake up!" I added, with a playful tone, sitting on the bed.
"Just five more minutes... Yawn" Ema replied, yawning.
"Okay, then I'll take this breakfast to another girl," I said, pretending to get up from the bed.
"DON'T YOU DARE!" Ema instantly woke up, as if by magic.
As soon as she saw me with the breakfast, her eyes lit up.
"You made it for me, F-Fumi?" she asked, exuding happiness from every pore, but I felt that something was off.
"Of course, after our wedding, I'll do it often, so you'll have to get used to it," I replied, smiling.
Ema flashed a wide smile.
She didn't expect such a sweet gesture.
I loved seeing her happy, but I decided not to overdo it to avoid seeming too suspicious.
I then placed the breakfast tray on the bed, and Ema started eating, getting happier with every bite.
As she ate, something came to her mind. "Fumi! By the way, what do you think about staying here with me tonight too?" Ema asked.
"Sure, why not. All for you," I replied.
Ema was happy that I would be staying the night with her.
I wasn't entirely at ease considering what I had seen on her phone, but at the same time, I knew I had to wait patiently and endure it.
"So, what are we doing today, Ema? Would you like to go out and do something?" I asked as I watched her finish breakfast.
"Mmmh... I think today I have to go shopping with Kanna since tomorrow with school there won't be much time..." Ema replied.
"So, should we meet directly at dinner time?" I asked.
"Well... yes. We need to buy... women's things, and you know Kanna hardly ever wants to leave the house, so I have to take advantage of it," she replied, wiping her mouth and putting away the breakfast tray.
"Thanks again for this surprise, Fumi, I really appreciated it," she added, giving me a small kiss on the cheek. I
chuckled and returned the kiss.
"I could use this opportunity to go talk to Benjiro... or..." I thought.
"No problem, Ema, then I'll spend some time with Benjiro. My mother and Takibi are still at my grandparents', I believe." After saying this, I got up from the bed.
"Well, now I'll get ready and head straight to Benjiro's," I said, heading towards the bathroom.
"O-Okay..." Ema said, blushing. "What's wrong, Ema?" I asked. "N-Nothing... it's just that... I thought you might want to, um... do 'That'," Ema replied, looking down.
"Ahahahah! It's probably better to wait until tonight, right?"
"You're not wrong Ehehe~..." After this little exchange, I opened Ema's wardrobe to find some clothes for myself.
I had left a small portion of my clothes at her house just for occasions like this.
I took a light T-shirt, jeans, my phone and headed to the bathroom to take a shower and freshen up.
I undressed and checked the time on my phone, it was already 9:00.
It didn't take me long to shower and step out of the bathroom.
I quickly tidied up and dressed myself.
I glanced at the phone again and saw that it was only 9:30. I had been too quick, unconsciously.
In my mind was the idea that Ema might be messaging "Kiko" while I was busy, and I didn't want that.
Once I was ready, I returned to Ema's room.
"Here I am, I'm re—" Ema wasn't there. "Where did she go?" I asked myself.
I headed towards Kanna's room and noticed it was locked.
"Ah... I see. Sisterly chat," I said, sighing.
For some strange reason, I decided to eavesdrop. "So... today we should get a lot of things, Kanna. Aren't you happy to go out with me today?" It was Ema's voice.
"But why do you want to go shopping today? Don't you usually spend Sundays with your future husband?" Kanna said.
"I need to go out with you and talk to you, Kanna. Please understand me."
"So they hadn't planned anything for today?" I thought.
"Fine. But just for today." That was Kanna, resigning herself.
I removed my ear from the door, thinking it was nothing serious or suspicious.
I decided to knock and ask, "Everything okay?" On the other side, Kanna responded.
"Yes, Fumi, everything's okay!! Today we're going shopping! Don't come in because I'm without clothes!" She said.
"Okay, then. I'm just gonna call Benjiro to go to meet him and i'll leave you two alone. I'll return by dinner time, okay?" I replied.
"Yes, okay! Just wait a second!" This was Ema's voice.
After some minutes she came out from the room, still wearing her night clothes.
After she came out, she hugged me and then said "Just don't be late okay? I'm sorry for what i said about Benjiro. All the things he said... he totally misunderstood... He didn't mean what he said, i know."
I hugged her back.
"It's okay, we know that he can say some strange things sometime... but it's fine. I'll go to talk to him." I gently broke the hug.
Ema nodded and escorted me to the door.
I bid her farewell with a kiss on the lips, saying, "See you tonight, sweetheart."
Then, i walked out and I grabbed my phone from my pocket , immediately calling Benjiro.
After a few seconds, he answered, saying, "Hey, Fumi."
And I replied promptly, "Benjiro, I need your help, I'm coming over."
