Yna's POV
The three men had started talking when I left the tense room, the power struggle was as thick as marmalade and even I could feel it. The strange handsome one, the youngest one had a cold charm about him. I had never felt such a cold demeanor from anyone.
As I headed back to my desk, I saw Christean. He was waiting by my desk, he seemed on edge and I didn't know why. He met me halfway when he saw me approach and I looked at him with a creased brow.
"Did you finish auditing the budget files that I sent to you yesterday?", he asked.
I nodded, "yes I'm almost through. They do need a few changes here and there but shouldn't take more than 5minutes", I responded.
"Great, I need you to finish up on that immediately. Mr Yuriat asked to see them".
"Sure, I'll get started on that right now".
He nodded and then headed in the opposite direction. I took a deep breath, motioning to adjust my glasses when I remembered.
I had left them in the conference room. Earlier on when I was pouring the coffee, the hot gas had clouded them so I'd taken them off to wipe down. Before I could put them back on, the door had opened to reveal the most handsome man I'd ever seen with my blurry vision. My pulse accelerated and my body tingled with attraction, a feeling I had never experienced before. Fighting for some composure, I managed to complete all my tasks but like a mouse in a cheese trap, I'd rushed to put some distance between us quickly.
Sarafyna and (Handsome ) men were not a thing.
As I headed back, my pulse picked up again. I could barely see without my glasses. It wasn't that I was completely blind, but I would never be able to type without my glasses. Contacts were great but long wear irritated my eyes and made them dry. The most o could wear one was 4hours, believe me I tried that in high school after all the name calling. No one really dared to physically bully me but the mental bullying was worse and it did get to me a lot.
Just as I made it to the door, I heard their voices. A deal? Marriage? To whom?. And to who?. Why?. The more I heard the conversation, the more confused I was. And then I heard it. His voice, cold as ice.
"Gentlemen, you can count me out on that one. I'm not marrying anyone. Especially a daughter of Yuriats!"
Something inside me died, pain rushing into my heart from a strangers words. The hand I had on the door's handle wobbled and dropped. Even I could feel the intense disgust the voice harbored. Tears stung my eyes, blurring my already bad eyesight and I turned away from the door. I took a step and then collided into something.
My head spun briefly and I thought it was the wall but then arms encircled me. Then I heard his voice again. It was fair away and static. Holy shit, don't tell me my hearing aids popped off after the collision.
"Are you crazy?", I shook my head at the question. The tears falling freezing from my face now. Serial looked down at her in confusion.
"Are you okay?, that question had her eyes and cheeks soaked with tears. Such a crybaby.
He reached out, wiping one tear and lifting my face to look up at his. I could barely see at this point so I stared him at his mouth, trying to make out his next words.
"You're a crybaby"
"Yeah, cry baby", those were the last words I heard before he leaned in and kissed my lips. I closed my eyes, enjoying the kiss and trying to process the distance between his words and his actions.
Why did he hate me as a Yuriat, insult me and then kiss me?. But his delicious mouth was making it hard to think, I wasn't even sure why I was sloppily kissing him back. All I knew was he was my first kiss.
Oh shit!.
The realization made me stiffen, and then o felt his lips leave me. He stared at me for a second and then walked away. When he rounded the corner from my view, I saw the familiar pink shirt that Christean had worn today. My mind reeled with the fact that Christean had seen me get kissed by a stranger whose face I could barely recognize. Hell, I didn't even know his name.
Feeling like a kid with her hand caught in the candy jar, I rushed into the conference room. My dad looked up at me and I froze.
"Need anything Yna?"
I quickly nodded, "I need to find my glasses", I responded. The other man smiled, pointing at something on his right.
I immediately grabbed them and almost tripped from my rush outside the room. Slipping them on, I looked down the hall to find Christean gone.
Honestly, I was very embarrassed at the thought of seeing Christean again after what happened.
Head down, I headed to my desk to start auditing. Five minutes later, Christean walked by to grab them but he barely said a word, it was a bit awkward but I was I was grateful that he didn't bring it up.
When the day finally ended, I was glad to be back home. The tv was on and Leighla was munching on an apple, she was getting better from her heartbreak but I still had every intention of finding the one responsible. I honestly wanted them to feel pain a whole lot worse than Leighla had.
She smiled when she saw me and I smiled back. She was definitely in high spirits and I was happy to see some semblance of the old Leigh back.
"What's going on?, you seem excited", I said.
She nodded.
"I am, why wouldn't I be when my sister's getting engaged?".
I reeled back in shock!
"I'm not getting engaged", I said in defense.
"Tell that to the news".
She switched the channel and there it was. Breaking news, the heirs of Yuriat and Lockheart have announced their private engagement ceremony next month. Sources say that the pair have been secretly seeing each other since March. After almost a year of courtship, they're ready to tie the knot!. Super excited for another Lockheart wedding!. Sorry ladies but another hot bachelor is getting hooked!. This would be the second marriage since Blaze Lockheart tied the knot earlier on this year. Congratulations to Sarafyna Yuriat and Serial Lockheart.
The fuck?, Was the reporter a simp?. And most importantly who is this Serial and why are we getting married when I've never met him?
