Auston walks next to Tori. Seeing Tori's discomfort, he leans over. "Don't worry, she's all bark, no bite."
Mr. Brookes laughs. "That's right, although her bark is a bit scary. Ohoo caviar." Mr. Brookes takes it from a passing food try. The three men stand by themselves, over by the food table. Mr. Brookes inspects all the food before giving it to Auston and Tori. The height difference is really noticeable. Mr. Brookes's head comes up to Toris shoulders. With Auston at his chin.
"Now, this is good food. Auston you have to try this one." Mr. Brookes grabs a piece of cake with edible gold leaf on it. Eating his plate of delicacy, Tori notices the people are staring at them, but with a scared look on their face.
"Sir-"
"Yes Tori?" Mr. Brookes grabs another appetizer off of a passing food try.
Tori looks around. "Do you know why they are staring at you?"
"Oh HA, they aren't staring at me, my boy." he chuckles, at Tori's confused face. Austons smirks slightly, biting into the caviar Mr. Brookes handed him. "They are just too nervous to come over to us, because you, my friend, look extremely intimidating.'' He sniffs the tray food. Then pops it into his mouth.
"Hmm, well maybe if you didn't have those shades, they wouldn't feel threatened." Tori moves his shades down, and shows tattoos of a red line that goes vertically down the middle of his eyes. They start halfway on his forehead and end at the top of his cheek bones.
"Oh, well then how about you loosen up a bit, you look very tense, for being at a party."
Tori gives him another stare of disbelief. Then quickly changes his face to a very sarcastic look. Then whispers to Mr. Brookes, which makes him smile.
"Oh yes, I'll be loose and relaxed at a party, when there's people who want to get hooked, and they only talk about buying people like all they are at is a farmers market." Tori replies with disgust. Mr. Brookes chokes on his food, chuckling.
"You are very observant." Auston snickers slightly.
Tori found this out, while walking around. The conversations he overheard were as if he was at a cattle market. Was this really a party? Or was this an auction?
Auston nods to this idea, adding.
"Well, he's not wrong."
"And I never say he is." Mr. Brookes finishes his food, smirking. "But, not everyone here is for 'slave buying'." Mr. Brookes sees something, takes a quick drink, then speed walks over to another group of ladies. Tori just looks at Auston.
"I can't keep up with this man." Tori says, exhausted.
Auston shrugs, then follows Mr. Brookes. Tori Strides behind, wishing he had not come to the interview.
Mr. Brookes walks quickly, with Auston at his side, and Tori walking behind.
"Sir, by the way, he's not here. It was just Ms. Kampell." Auston says, with the short man nodding.
"Good, otherwise I shouldn't have brought him here."
They approached a group of two ladies, who were standing in the back corner of the ball room. The lady in the middle was a tall Blond hair girl, she looked about 18, with breathtaking beauty. She has a light pink dress, with gold lining. It shows off her shoulders, and has her hair down, with slight curls. She sees Mr. Brookes and walks over to him, the other ladies watching, whispering to each other.
"Hello, Lady of the night." he smiling a real smile.
"Oh, Mr. Brookes, I'm so glad you could make it tonight. I was worried you were not going to show up." She returns the smile. She walks up to him and he takes her hand, kissing the top of it. She was about two inches taller than Mr. Brookes, without her heels.
"I wouldn't miss it. Although I am concerned why you invited Ms. Kampell, Miss. Elizabeth." He takes a step back, looking at her with a somber look. But there's sarcasm in his eyes.
"Oh, That bi- I mean, that woman is here?" she asks. Mr. Brookes chuckles.
"Yes, I just escaped with my kids," he gestures to Auston and Tori.
"I'm truly sorry, I didn't mean to invite her, But you know how it is to be the mayor's daughter, and word gets around," she exasperated.
"It's alright, I'm just happy He's not here."
"I can agree with you on that one, Mr. Brookes. OH! Auston, you're here? I didn't even see you." she smiles again. "How are your brothers?"
"They are doing good, most likely causing Dani trouble though."
"Ha, those two are going to be the death of you Mr. B." Laughing, she notices Tori, who was snacking on some food his supervisor forced him to take.
"Oh hello, who are you?" she moves up to him.
Tori looks at Mr. Brookes for help. And all he got was a shrug and mouthed. "She's a puppy," and he gives him a thumbs up. Tori looks back at the girl in front of him.
"It's Tori." is all he could say. Elizabeth chuckled.
"Nice to meet you Tori, I'm Elizabeth. Are you here with Mr. Brookes?" she asks. Tori gets an idea.
"'I don't know what that damn fool does.'" He quickly puts a piece of fudge in his mouth. Tori raises an eyebrow at the man. Mr. Brookes stares at Tori, while Auston chokes on water. Elizabeth looks at him, then laughs.
"Hahaha, Tori, it's ok, I'm a friend of Mr. B." She looks over at Mr. Brookes. "You're still using that line?" she asks, still giggling from the comment.
"Well, I didn't tell him who's an amigo, who's a bandito. She's an amigo, Tori." he adds. Tori responded by putting more food in his mouth.
"So, how are you liking the party?" she asks. Well, I'd liking to leave, he retorts back in his head.
"It's. . . crowded," he responds instead.
"Ya, that's my bad. I didn't mean to have this many people here, but oh well." she shrugs. She looks over and sees her friend group watching them. "Oh Tori, come meet my friends." she says.
"Umm, I don't really–"
"We would love to." Auston cuts him off, by shoving fudge into his mouth. He pushes Tori, following Elizabeth. Mr. Brookes chuckles, watching the two bodyguards follow the girl.
