Chapter 4 - Chapter IV: Academy of Departments

Chapter IV: Academy of Departments

___

The examination tests in this world were quite different from what was shown in the original Naruto.

Frankly, the entire Academy was much different from the original one. While in the original, they only taught some basic school subjects and some basic jutsu, this one was much better sophisticated and more grounded in reality.

The academy was supervised by several different departments, each led by specialized Jonins and chunins who focused on teaching different aspects of being a ninja.

[A/N: Mayday-Mayday, Massive Info-dump Incoming. Be warned]

One such department was the Department of Basic Medical Treatment {DBMT}, which taught everyone the essential knowledge of self-treatment and emergency care. It was a mandatory subject for everyone to pass, to officially consider to be a ninja. Emphasising that a ninja unable to provide even basic self-care for his own injuries was essentially a useless ninja.

Another important department was the Department of Basic Survival in Unknown Terrain {DBSUT}: This department majorly focused on teaching students the basic tactics for survival in various unknown environments, such as forests, snowlands, or deserts. It included training on camouflage, finding water sources, and navigating challenging terrains, providing essential skills for ninjas to operate effectively in any conditions

And lastly was the Department of Jutsu Mastery and Chakra Control {DJMCC): This department primarily focuses on developing students' proficiency in various jutsus, honing their chakra control, and ensuring a basic understanding of the fundamentals of ninjutsu and their affinities. In this department, students learn how to control their chakras, mastering the five basic ninjutsus.

1. Transformation jutsu

2. Clone Technique

3. Body Flicker Technique

4. Body Replacement Technique

5. Tree Climbing Practice

6. Water Surface Walking Technique

After experiencing what a real ninja academy offered, it was hard to fathom how trash the original academy was. Naruto, for instance, didn't even know what his affinities were.

These three departments' tests were the compulsory ones that every student had to pass to graduate. Failing meant repeating the exams, and if a student failed consecutively for two years, they would be enrolled in a rigorous six-month special program under a specialized Chunin. If, even after this period, the students failed to show any improvement and the Chunin raised a red flag, the student would face immediate permanent expulsion from the academy. This strict system aimed to ensure that graduating ninjas possessed at least the basic medical and survival skills before entering the field.

Of course, there were also other departments too that dealt with several other topics, such as:

Department of Physical Fitness{DPF}: It focused on maintaining a rigorous physical training regimen on every student emphasizing functional strength, agility, and stamina. Ninjas needed to be in peak condition to handle the demands of their missions.

Department of Interrogation & Torture {DIT}: This department prepared students to withstand psychological stress during interrogation and torture scenarios, ensuring they didn't reveal critical information if captured. Mental conditioning from an early age was deemed necessary to endure both mental and physical torture. For instance, students might experience scenarios like being left in a soundproof room for an entire day or confined in a space with limited movement for hours. Over the seven years in the Academy, students underwent multiple torture scenarios each year, and those who successfully navigated them all earned the special status of joining the Interrogation squad.

Department of Political Science {DPS}: This department mostly taught about the political intricacies of different nations and their current political situations. Ideal for those planning to become strategists behind the scenes, and if they are successful they might even have the chance to join the cabinet of Hokage as its member.

Department of Strategic Warfare & Tactics {DSWT}: As implied by its name, this department majorly focused on training ninjas in battlefield tactics, efficient resource utilization, and analyzing enemy movements. The curriculum included historical case studies to provide a deep understanding of military strategy within the ninja context. Those who excelled in this department may even receive a recommendation certificate, offering them the chance to qualify for the position of the Head of a 2nd Class Battalion during a war.

Department of Will of Fire{DWF}: Ofcourse there also will be the infamous Will of Fire. Headed by the Hokage himself, this department focused on teaching ethical principles and moral standings. But...Despite its seemingly altruistic name, I viewed it as a propaganda department that justified the moral standings of the Hidden Leaf Village during every war. It also teaches them about the loyalty and responsibility one shoulder towards the village. In modern terms, you can basically call it the Matrix.

So, in addition to the mandatory three departments, all students would choose three from the other five departments to study under . They then underwent a general exam in those chosen departments each year before advancing to the next academic year.

This system allowed students to tailor their education, focusing on areas that aligned with their skills and interests within the realm of ninja training.

In my opinion, I would say this system was much more sophisticated and advanced than the original one. Every student received comprehensive theoretical knowledge during their time in the academy. After graduation, they would work with their Joñin team leaders to gain practical on-field experience, ensuring a well-rounded education that prepared them for being a ninja.

And for those without the academy's certificate verification confirming their status as ninja, it's akin to a country bum vying for a position at Google.

As trusting a ninja without official recognition from the Head Academy of a Ninja Village is a challenge that most ordinary folks wouldn't readily want to take.

In these recent years of peace, the Hidden Leaf has experienced significant systemization. Structures and positions that were once chaotic and riddled with holes are now mostly organised and in order.

And after the annihilation of one of the village's main clans five years ago, regulations have tightened even further, and people have grown increasingly distrustful of any ninja without affiliations.

"Sigh. The real world is way more complicated than the anime. Who knows if even the plot is the same," Tatsuya mused, exhaling his thoughts silently.

"Why are you sighing while staring at the wall?" Hanabi questioned.

Tatsuya turned to Hanabi, his gaze thoughtful. "Just pondering the complexities of the real world, you know? It's a lot more complicated than the anime." he explained.

Hanabi looked at me as if she were staring at an idiot. "You're overthinking things again," she remarked, shaking her head, and continued, "and what even is an Anime?"

"Heh, what can an 'uncultured' brat like you know," Tatsuya mocked.

"Uncultured Huh! You need to stop reading those perverted books, bro!" Hanabi said in sudden concern.

"Huh?! What perverted books are you talking about?" Tatsuya replied, genuinely puzzled. He didn't read any pervert books …..wait!!

"Heh! Then what is this?" Hanabi smirked, pulling out Icha Icha Paradise from her pockets.

"What the fuck?!" Tatsuya quickly snatched the book at a speed that even Hanabi had never seen.

"Where did you get this?" Tatsuya questioned her, glaring.

"From where else other than your room," Hanabi replied, grinning mischievously.

"Did you read it? And don't try to joke with me now"

"Of course... not," she responded with a sly smile, raising an eyebrow.

"..."

"...It better be right! Otherwise, Mom would kill me if she knew because of me you went astray," Tatsuya said with a serious look on his face while sighing.

"Who told you to keep it in your room? And I am not an ashtray," Hanabi retorted.

"Sigh. Okay, my bad. I shouldn't have brought it home in the first place," Tatsuya admitted.

Though he didn't clarify whether it was right or wrong for him to read it. After all, how can a Naruto fan who actually transmigrated into the real Naruto world resist reading the legendary and infamous Icha Icha Paradise at least once. The only mistake was that he didn't hide it well.

"And what were you doing in my room?" Tatsuya questioned her, feeling a little annoyed.

"Uhh…nothing, I just found it by chance," Hanabi responded nonchalantly, but her voice stammered a little, and her eyes didn't look straight, which he noticed.

"I won't chide you now. But remember, don't invade my room without my permission, from now on okay," Tatsuya sighed, patting her head. He just couldn't stay angry at her.

"....Sorry, I won't do it anymore," Hanabi apologised and hugged him. Seeing how her brother didn't get angry with her, even when she took something from his room without his permission, it made her feel bad.

"It's okay," Tatsuya nodded at her, and then both started gazing at the students of different age groups running frantically from one point to another in the tension of the exam.

"You read it, right?"

"....I am sorry."

Tatsuya could only shake his head at her reply , as for how he knew for sure that she had read it. Well with how easily she connected the word "uncultured" with me reading perverted books, it was obvious.

In a world where children mature rapidly, both mentally and physically, it was a minor concern in the grand scheme of things.

And if were in times of war, she would have been prepared for much more unsettling tasks, such as practising killing on prisoners by slitting their throats. After all, sending complete rookies into a battlefield where they can show hesitation to kill the enemy is like sending a minor to a child rapist. No commander would do such foolish moves.

'Shit, I am starting to monologue again' Tatsuya thought.

"Members of the Department of Interrogation & Torture, follow me!" A masked Jonin declared in a chilling, loud voice within the hall.

The announcement sent shudders through many students, but still, quite a few of them began to follow the Jonin. Interestingly, more than 70% of them were clan members from various clans.

Hinata, Ino, and Sakura were also among those in the group that followed the Jonin.

Hinata and their group followed that department mainly because most clan members were heavily recommended to join. This was to ensure that if they were ever captured by enemies, they wouldn't divulge any sensitive clan details. It had become a cultural norm for clan members and if any of them tried to evade it, they would basically become an outcast and untrustable figure in the clan, who would be left out from most classified knowledge. And as for why Sakura joined... Well, he didn't know.

It was also the department with the least number of members, which made sense, considering the mental and physical torture one had to endure to pass the notoriously second-hardest exam.

"What was your score in the {DIT} exam btw, brother ?" Hanabi asked curiously.

"It was... 100%," he replied, a hint of nonchalance in his tone.
