It was the opening day and Rian was talking excitedly beside Cyril's ear, "When I was passing the flyers, you should have seen everyone's expressions, Brother Cyril. No one expected that something like this could be done here. Seeing their expressions, I was so thrilled." As he was speaking, Rian's smile did not calm down at all. Instead, he rubbed his palms in excitement.
Cyril smiled. He raised his head to look at the board at the entrance of the plot he had bought and renovated into a playing ground.
The board looked dominating. The title simply stated, 'The Gambling Den'.
Such bold words, without hiding the intention of the owner, made everyone open their mouths wide open in surprise.
Who in their right mind would be so bold inside a prison?
That was why Rian was shocked when he heard the idea as well.
Cyril's plan was to open a gambling den. In fancier terms, it is a Casino.
But the people in the prison were all uncultured and Cyril did not know if the fancy term would be able to attract the crowd. One had to think of the target customers before planning the business after all.
So, he went with the words 'Gambling Den'.
Inside a prison, everyone was a criminal. But in this island prison, everyone had to work hard to gain some points. In their baritone lives, bringing some excitement would be the best business opportunity.
They are not kids. So opening an amusement park for their fun would be silly.
What could these monstrous men think of fun as? It is nothing but gambling. Frankly, Cyril couldn't think of anything else at all. Even if he had a couple of other ideas, they wouldn't be suitable for the long term. A few wouldn't be suitable for a larger group of customers.
Now that the decision was made and arrangements were done, all he had to do was wait till the allotted time for opening.
Listening to Rian's words, his smile grew. The feedback looked nice from the promotions.
It was a couple of hours away from the opening time, and he could see a few people arriving at the location already.
Everyone was in groups as their eyes were shining with excitement about the opening.
They were not exactly happy for the owner. But for earning their own points by gambling.
Cyril did not care about that. He doesn't know anyone there anyway. Who would want anything good for him? Everyone was selfish to begin with. And this is a prison. Only the people who were more selfish than any other normal person would commit crimes.
The ones in the Island Prison were the scariest of all the criminals in the world. It means that they are the most selfish people in the world.
There is no way they would think well about others, let alone someone they don't know of.
The excitement they had for their selfish reasons was more than enough for him. This excitement is his capital for his business.
He wanted them to be more excited. With more excitement, the more they would gamble and the more he would earn.
The ground was visible from the outside, but there was a large gate blocking outsiders from entering the field as they wished.
Cyril spent a lot of points installing this special gate. The lock on the gate installed was very special.
Only after accepting the 'terms and conditions' provided, will the gate allow the person to enter.
No one understood much about these. Since the gate wouldn't open yet, they stood outside awaiting the opening time.
Of course, there would be a couple of goons shouting to open the gate, or they would break it open.
Cyril did not give them a glance.
When they saw that they did not get any reply, they got angry and shouted to their team, "Let's break it. I want to see how this kid will stop us."
"..." Cyril did not understand what the man was thinking. He looked at him and asked calmly, "There was nothing inside except an empty field. What will you do after breaking the gate open?"
The man did not care about those details at all. He raised his chest, "I don't care. I just want to enter now and that is what I will do."
Without waiting for Cyril's reply, he beckoned his men and everyone charged at the gate at once.
A few meek men, who came to just enjoy the show, moved a few steps backward, so as not to provoke any of these goons.
"Let's go!!!" The men shouted at once and charged forward to bang their burly bodies at the strong iron gate.
What no one expected was, as soon as their bodies came into contact with the gate, they all got electrocuted and fell to the ground in an instant like fallen leaves.
Everyone around took another few steps backward and gasped in shock, "What's going on? What happened to them? Did they die?"
They looked at Cyril with suspicious and wary gazes.
Cyril had an innocent expression on his face. Who would want their opening day to have such extreme events occur which could affect his future business plans?
Definitely, not him.
He sighed and ran towards the fallen men. Rian followed behind him as he asked worriedly, "Brother Cyril, will they be alright? What if something happens to them?"
'If they are really dead, it means, I did this world a great favor by reducing some trash. What's the big deal?' Cyril thought to himself, but he did not say those words out loud. Now he was in a jail, surrounded by such trash in all directions. If he really spoke those words out loud, the next second he would be the one to be treated as trash by them.
He simply shook his head and took out an emergency medical kit he had prepared beforehand. He used a stethoscope in it to check if they were still breathing or not.
No one made a sound so as not to disturb him, as they held their breaths in.
