The trench coat guy refused to talk to him and walked to the NPC. "Where is my room?"
"Oh, the rooms are on the first floor. But before I show you guys around, let's wait for all of our new little thetas to assemble," he said, his tone firm.
Chu Siyan took the time to look around. This place was obviously a fraternity house. It was the reason why this NPC man called him mister. They have all assumed the identity of men, to be sure. He touched his face and glanced at his clothes. He was still in his white shirt and shorts.
'Irrespective of gender, we are all associated as men... hmm, curious.'
A fraternity was exclusively for college men. So, he assumed that they were all new college students.
"So, how far is our college from here?" he asked the NPC.
The red t-shirt guy who was busy with his phone glanced up. His grey eyes peered up at him curiously. Chu Siyan simply nodded his way.
"Oh, it's just to our right. It will take us only a few minutes to get there. My brothers and I will take you there. Don't worry. The first day of college is nerve-wracking but... it's fun~"
Chu Siyan nodded. So, they had access to the college building as well. This game was becoming much trickier to solve.
In ghost games like this, the main task was to solve the mysterious death of the actual ghost and find out why he or she was still haunting the place. Since the NPC informed them that they had college, their scope of search expanded drastically.
The larger the campus, the harder it would be to find clues.
He frowned subtly.
"Don't worry, I will not let anyone bully you guys," the NPC soothingly whispered.
"How many seniors are here?"
"Oh, only four of us are staying here... the others had left us... I don't mean we are a dying fraternity. Thetas are still popular in college, and we still have a lot of college credit involved. Don't be discouraged by that."
Chu Siyan nodded. "Why did they leave?"
The man's face turned pale. "This... it's not important."
Right then, the front door banged open. The handsome dude and his four entourage entered the house grimly.
"Ah, the other guys are here. I'll assign your rooms to you now," he cheerfully clapped. "Go Theta~"
The handsome dude simply smiled at him. "Hello."
"Yes, hello. I'll show you guys around." The man did not spend much time explaining things to them. He took them around the place.
There was a common room with a huge TV, a small kitchen which looked very clean and unused, a bathroom on the ground floor, and up the stairs, there were six rooms in total.
The first two rooms had blue name tags hanging on the door. He touched the bedazzled crystals glued to it. The first room was occupied by the NPCs named Sam and Kyle, and the second room was occupied by Michael and Chris. The other two NPCs did not come out of their rooms to greet them.
"What is your name?" Chu Siyan whispered softly.
"Chris. I'm Chris," he grinned softly. "you guys can take whichever rooms you prefer. We have our very own cook who cooks delicious food. Breakfast is at seven. Be there on time or Figus will be grumpy. Lunch is at college obviously, and dinner is at eight. It gives you guys ample time to settle in the rooms. I'll call you down when the food is ready."
The handsome dude and the four following him took the first three rooms. There were only two beds per room. The two guys chose the one closer to Chris's room, and the two girls took the next room. That left the handsome dude all alone.
He cast his eyes Chu Siyan's way. "Come on, let's room together."
Chu Siyan stepped back. "I'd rather not."
He watched the man's eyebrows twitch subtly. "Suit yourself. You will probably die in a day or so," he grumbled and walked into his room.
This left only three standing out in the hallway. The trench coat guy had already chosen a room. The red shirt guy was looking at both the rooms, one with the handsome dude and one with the trench coat guy.
As he was about to walk to the trench coat guy's room, Chu Siyan hurried and got there before him. "I'm taking this room. Sorry."
The young man frowned and reluctantly chose the one with the handsome dude.
Chu Siyan sighed. She knew for sure that this red guy was experienced, and the trench coat guy's experience was still unknown. At least he was kind enough to answer a few of her questions. She liked that about him and felt comfortable with him.
She slowly entered the room. The walls were painted blue with a few posters of athletes and sports events stuck on them. The trench coat guy had taken up the first bed to the right. He had simply laid there without even removing his shoes.
Chu Siyan sat down meekly on the other bed. "One more question, what if we win all the levels? What will happen then?"
The man opened his eyes and peered at her coldly. "You win."
"Yeah, what then? Do I get a reward, a ticket to heaven or something?"
"You get a wish and a life."
Chu Siyan's heart started to pound loudly in his chest. 'A life... that means he could go back to the real world. And I can make a wish to be healthy again...'
But the reality seeped in.
Not just him. All the players in this game were dead. This novice level had eight players. That is to say, it was just one group. Hypothetically speaking, there could be thousands and thousands of players in this game who all had the same goal as him.
It was not going to be easy.
Chu Siyan laid on the bed, peering up at the uneven ceiling grout. 'It's okay… I'll just enjoy this game. At least now I am out of my glass room, enjoying the fresh night breeze… It's not a fresh breeze... there is some smell…'
His nose moved slightly, sniffing the air.
There was a subtle scent of blood still lingering in the air.
'Chris said not to leave the room at night. Most likely something dangerous will come out and hunt in this area.'
But where the danger lies, there is also a possibility of finding clues.
