Chapter 21 - Chapter 21-Queen of many, Lover for One

It was late at night as Queen Amarha sat purposefully in her husband's Library staring down at a blank piece of parchment; she had spent the last two days consumed by her grief but was no longer willing to be a slave to her emotions. Drogath would always continue to take from her, from her family. He would never stop….she knew he would never stop. She had originally been betrothed to him, before Nolick had taken her, honestly, he had unwittingly rescued her from a dull and forced marriage. It had been well over a Millenia since that fateful day, and the Dark Elf King still held the grudge…he had even taken another woman to be his queen, and she had provided him with an heir. But even that didn't quell his hatred for Amarha, he had vowed to destroy everyone and everything she had ever loved, the day she snubbed him in public. It wasn't like she was really able to help it though, she had fallen in love. And was unwilling to deny herself the first glimpse of happiness she had ever had.

Back then, Amarha was a lady in waiting for the Nyberian kingdom, she had been promised to The Nyberian Prince, Drogath…and was brought to the summer tournaments to be put on display in front of the 9 Kingdoms, as a Future Nyberian Royal. She had spent the entire Summer Tournament however, secretly meeting with Nolick, who was just a prince at the time. They had met during the grand Feast on the first night the Competitions were being held. He was romantic and kind and had won her heart in such a short time. And he was absolutely enamored by her. It was like something out of a Fairy tale. It was considered a forbidden love, Amarha was a Dark Elf, and Nolick was a High Elf, but neither one of ever cared.

They had secretly been bound in a Twin Flame Binding ceremony, late one night, at the height of the Tournament. The fates had arrived without question. Sealing them together, as the 2 large Moons lit the night sky. It had taken everything in him to keep his hands off of her that night…feeling the bond form, had been so wonderfully overwhelming…

During the Tournament, Nolick had proven himself to be the greatest Swordsman at the time and had asked for her hand in marriage in front of everyone, it was his plan to get her out of there, since only the High King, who was his father had the power to override a prior royal engagement…and she had said yes. Drogath had gone into a mad fit of rage, and the High King had ordered him to stand down, forcing him to accept Amarha's wishes…he had been humiliated. When it was found that they had already been bound, it was deemed by the high council's there was nothing anyone could do, and she was taken to the Atherian Kingdom, and sworn in as a Princess, and future Queen of Atheria, she never looked back. Even when Drogath killed her father and Mother and little sisters. She knew there was nothing she could do to fix it.

Amarha looked at the paper in front of her…her hand frozen over it as the ink from her quill dripped onto the textured parchment…she didn't know what to say…she had come in here to send a letter off to the man she was once betrothed to. But she knew there was no point…speaking to him…So she decided to send a letter to his heir instead…perhaps he would be capable of listening to reason. In hurried strokes she began to write, her words quickly filled the page.

Letting her heart guide her words, she wrote the truth about everything down…regardless of the reputation Dark Elves carried, it was possible for them to feel, and to see reason, although they were more prone to fits of rage, and violence. Amarha would know, she was one, the truth of the matter was, they felt emotions more deeply than others could. And would tend to wear a hard shell around themselves…never willing to give into the possible emotions and weaknesses that love or caring brought out in them. It was much easier to tap into the darkness and stay there for her kind. But she knew, she was proof that her kind were capable of leaving the darkness of their hearts in search of something better.

When she felt she had conveyed everything she wanted to say…she rolled the letter up and sealed it with a wax stamp. Writing the Prince's title on the outer scroll. She handed the letter to one of her ladies in waiting, to take to the owl room, and instructed her to send the letter back with the Raven emissary that had delivered the letter from the Nyberian kingdom.

Amarha sat for a moment before standing from the Desk, and leaving the library, she headed to the Royal bed Chambers where her husband slumbered. She wanted to be there for him when he finally awoke…She needed to know what had driven him so mad.
