Amora could just barely make out the castle in the far distance. Lethoria's Tri-Towers standing gloriously in the mid-morning sun. If they could just make it there…they would be safe. The Archer sentries on the wall would supply Cover, so that they would be able to ride through to safety…But they were still quite far out of range…too far. She had no doubt that they would be visible as soon as they made it past the tree lines…But getting to that point…that was the hard part. They had been in a full gallop for nearly two hours now…And their horses were struggling to keep up. She had noticed earlier that the Dark Elves were riding on War Horses…usually reserved for a Royal Cavalry, due to their high endurance. Amora could feel her body surge with angst, now, no longer certain of her fate.
"Torwynn, we are not going to make it…our steeds will fail us before we make it to the tree line, we still have several miles to go."
"SILENCE!! WE HAVE TO TRY!" he roared back, she realized he must be becoming anxious… The threat behind them, and his apprehension for the fight to come, clouded his judgement. His reaction made reality hit home, they were possibly fixing to die, and she had only just begun to live...In her heart she knew they had to try something else. Running wasn't getting them anywhere, the Dark elves were closing in…
"Torwynn we may have to hide. We are not riding on War Horses, they are-." She tried again….He looked over his shoulder and glared at her, cutting her off…Unwilling to let her help…Stubbornness was apparently commonplace in all Male Creatures she concluded. She looked down at her horse's hair, it was drenched in sweat, the beast beneath her wheezing at it was gasping for breath, its footfalls uneven, she could sense it was on the verge of collapse. The weren't going to make it.
She opened her mouth to plead again "T-Tor!! -UGHNNNN!!!"
Amora's horse faltered. The white stallion's chest slammed into the damp forest floor sending dirt and Amora flying. Her body flying hard into a tree, her head cracking loudly against the hard root, as pain shot through her body. Sizzling white hot pain shot through her skull as she cried out. The sudden stop of Amora's steed, had also yanked Torwynn from his horse, having had her reigns in his hand, he hit with a thud, and rolled. Mud, leaves, and twigs marred his Royal Attire. His horse came to a halt not far ahead. As Amora saw him begin to stand up, and brush himself off, the world started going completely dark….the pain in her head subsiding as she drifted into black nothingness.
A few moments pass…far away in the darkness Amora could hear her handmaidens…"Princess Amora! Wake up Princess Amora!"
They were calling from somewhere, somewhere very far away…but she felt too heavy to reply. Too heavy to do anything but listen.
"It seems to be that She's dead…we have to get out of here…." A male voice gently spoke…it sounded familiar….
Ahh…yes…her betrothed…that voice was Torwynn… "Take her crown, so we can send it back to King Nolick, we must inform him that his daughter has passed."
"Do you not have healers in your palace, sir prince? Surely, they can bring her back, it's not been very long…elven magic should be able to fix this, right?" One of her maidens questioned…sadness dripping from her voice….she must be crying Amora thought… "surely this fall has not truly killed her, right?"
"Not currently, our healers were sent to the Kingdom of Atheria…to aid in the War, we have no healers." Torwynn voiced…he sounded farther away…in a defeated tone he spoke again "we must leave, now… Captain, Hide the Princess's body and let's move on" The sound of hooves hitting the dirt moved farther away….
She could feel her body being dragged to the foliage…she tried to make any noise she could, to move…but she couldn't….Everything was too heavy…access to her body…felt too far away…she felt him lay a tree branch over her chest…the weight was almost crushing. "Goodbye Princess"
Goodbye she thought to herself… she listened as the last horse left…her senses faded with them…was this the end? She began to feel very cold…her awareness…slowly faded away.
