"Are they gone now?"
"Hmm," Michael nods without looking at me.
I think he is guilty of his actions. However, I don't blame him for being so furious at me. I would have been mad if I were in his shoes. Heck! I was so furious at him the day I saw him having an intimate conversation with a lady back during his jail time.
"Thank you for not reporting me," he finishes. He turns and proceeds to the hallway. My gaze follows him, and I notice that his back is still tense.
Even though every cell in my body is craving for rest, I follow Michael to the room. I meet him lying down on his stomach.
"Hey… Do you still want to talk?"
He ignores me, turning his face away from me.
"Do you want to eat then? Are you hungry?"
"Leave me alone, Sarah. That's what I want. For you to let me be."
Fresh tears pool in my eyes, "You want me to leave you alone, huh? For now or forever?"
The question makes him turn again to face me.
