I walk into my old office building with unsteady legs, feeling everything but excited about returning here once again. This place still sucks. I can feel the irritation down to my bones.
A quick glance around shows that the whole space is empty. Where is everyone? Maybe they went for an emergency call or something, I thought while shrugging it off nonchalantly.
Not that I care about seeing any of them. The thought of even exchanging pleasantries with them ticks me off in the wrong way.
I head towards my former desk, only to see that someone else, probably a new officer, is now occupying my position. I mutter a curse under my breath, knowing I had chosen this position when I first got here because it is at the far end of the wall. It had offered me enough serenity that I needed to perform well in my job.
I glance around again, but still can't see any free space.
