Chapter 21 - Curse of Gluttony

Ash's palm glowed with black colored magic circle.

He used his left hand to catch Parvir's axe while he used the other hand to stamp the magic circle on Parvir's chest.

*BOOM*

It was like a truck hit a wall. Parvir froze in the air.

Ash kicked the ground his foot and a black colored stone wall appeared out of it. He slammed Parvir against the wall. Black runes extended out of the magic circle on Parvir's chest. They made him stick to the wall.

Parvir was captured just like that.

He tried to get out of that bind, but no matter how much he tried, all he was able to do is make those black runic marks glow a bit.

Ash ignored him and walked to the father and son duo. Duke Kurma took out his hammer and stubbornly stood in front of his son.

"You are an insult to your ancestors. How can you break the oath they made to the Daksh kingdom?"

Duke Kurma spat coldly.

Ash just looked at him without speaking for a moment, instead he just looked at Ardra for a moment before taking a scroll out of his storage device.

The scroll floated in the air and opened itself revealing a detailed sketch of a man's face.\

Ardra's expression changed as he looked at the picture. He gulped loudly and tried to avoid looking at it.

"Who is this man? Where can I find him? You have ten minutes to answer me."

Ash just looked at him without a change of his expression.

"Will… will you let us go if I answer…?" Ardra asked.

I must say, for a moment I wanted to admire ball of steel or the shitty brain, whatever that made him ask that question. Even in that situation that fool thought he could negotiate.

But the answer didn't come out of Ash, instead it came out of the mouth of a Kurma family member.

Dhana, Dharma and I were hiding at a certain spot a few meters away from the pit. A few feet to our right, we saw a teenager ran frantically to the pit.

"Uncle. UNCLE. SAVE MEE… ARGHH…"

A teenager ran frantically towards the pit and fell into it. He was being chased by the horse, and it turned back when he fell. I was a bit confused. The woman, who as Duke's daughter also ran to the pit like that, but the horse didn't spare her.

It burned her down.

What could have possibly changed?

I didn't know, at that time, but you will find out soon enough.

And that wasn't the end of it.

In the next ten minutes more and more people of Kurma family were either chased or dragged into the pit by the two beasts. After the ten minutes were over… Ash looked at the people and muttered.

"That should be all of them."

"What are you going to do to them? Ash, don't do something that you cannot go back from. You will be way beyond receiving any form of forgiveness if you do this?"

Ash stopped in his tracks and looked at Parvir.

"Forgiveness? I am not looking for this. As for doing something that I cannot go back from? I believe I already did it the moment I stepped on the land of Daksh.

The Anta Duchy….

I must say, I didn't like how I dealt with the Anta family. Too bad, they were having a fucking banquet by the time I was there. I just couldn't control myself when I saw that."

He paused and looked at Ardra.

"You must understand why that is, don't you?"

Ardra who by now was soaked in so much sweat that it looked like he just showered just shivered up on being addressed.

Ash walked to Parvir who was still stuck to that stone wall.

"I don't want to waste anymore of your time. I am also sure you don't want to watch what I am about to do next.

So, take your son and his two companions, and fuck off from this place.

This is the last time I am giving you any concession, so the next time you come and fight me, remove your limiter."

Parvir gritted his teeth. His voice almost resembling a roar of a beast as he tried to get rid of the shackles.

"ASH… I WILL KILL YOU FOR THIS. I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I PUT A STOP TO YOU IF YOU MOVE FORWARD WITH THIS. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE.

EVEN IF YOU RUN TO THE ENDS OF EARTH, I WILL COME AND RIP YOU APART MYSELF."

Ash just chuckled at the threat.

"Don't worry. I won't be running. After all, this is just the start. I won't rest until I do what I set out to do.

So, See you later. Uncle."

Ash's leg glowed with black aura as he threw a side kick on Parvir's chest.

The stone wall broke and Parvir flew like an arrow that's left a bow. But he didn't fly in the straight line, instead his body took a weird curved path in the air as it shot out of the pit… in our direction.

"Fuck."

Dhana cursed as she hurriedly manipulated her mana to cushion the impact. Dharma also joined into help her, but he was a tad too late… I on the other hand was too shocked react.

*BOOM*

The large muscular body broke through the mana barrier and hit all three of us, crashing us against a large rock nearby. I felt dizzy and blanked out…. Again.

I wondered just how much brain damage I must have taken in those past few days.

"Tej."

"Tej"

I woke up to the familiar voice calling out to me. Dhana woke me up. Dharma and Parvir were already awaken, I was the last one.

The father and son duo were standing at the edge of the pit. The whole pit was glowing with bright red glow.

"What happened?"

I asked Dhana, who pursed her lips and gestured for me to come.

I walked to the pit…

*BARF*

I puked. That's the most immediate reaction.

Inside the pit, I saw as the whole Kurma family. From the kids to the Duke himself were all struggling… to take a bite of the burnt corpse of their family member.

They were like rabid beasts as they devoured her flesh and bones as whole.

"Wha… what is happening?"

I asked with a shaking tone.

Parvir who had a deep frown spoke through his clenched jaw.

"Curse of Gluttony. The whole pit is cursed."

I gulped.

I read about that curse before. It was one of the most cruelest curses there ever was and it was forbidden even during the era of demons.

Some factions of demons themselves forbade it.

As for why…. Let me describe what it did to Kurma family and you can understand it yourself.

Duke Kurma had to eat a lot of his daughter's body. Even though he tried to resist, he wasn't able to do much against the curse. But his hunger was not satiated, the same thing could be said for the other family members, they didn't even leave the bones of the woman.

But after those were gone too, they started looking at each other, sniffing and smelling.

One of the young men locked his gaze onto his younger brother whose knee was busted. The blood was still fresh. He hurriedly lunged forward and bit his brother on his knee.

The younger brother tried to resist, but he couldn't. Instead, he was drawn by the scent of his older brother and he lodged his teeth within his brother's neck, tearing a piece of his flesh. Taking in the scent, another woman from the side jumped to tear another piece of that man.

And thus continued a chain reaction that only intensified. The family members devoured each other, bit by bit. With every bite, they are losing their consciousness because of the loss of blood and their flesh.

But even until their last breath, they weren't able to endure it.

However, what caught my eyes even in that gory scene was that whenever a person died, a blue orb flew out of their head and merged into the head of another person closest to them. I didn't know what they were, but when those orbs merged, the recipient froze for a few minutes and seemed to have experienced some excruciating pain in their minds.

But I believe the worst predicament was of the Duke.

He was the strongest there, many people there weren't even able to bite him, and the few who did, couldn't manage to cause him much harm. And his massive mana reserves and natural healing made him stay energetic, even after all of his family were dead.

And the worst part, he couldn't control his hunger still. He was hungrily consuming each of his family members. He was eating their flesh, innards, and bones, including the skull.

He shed tears of blood as multiple blue orbs flew to him at the same time.

He was still conscious as he did this. I couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of torture he was going through as he finally couldn't control his urge to eat his own son.

All I could say, I had seen a person shed tears of blood that day.
