Chereads / Farm of the Dead / Chapter 7 - Corpse Stink Farm

Chapter 7 - Corpse Stink Farm

The mysterious system of Night Three More has only four abilities:

Item Appraisal, Undead Mark, Undead Resurrection, and the final one, the construction function.

Upon opening the construction panel, Night Three More carefully examined it, then silently closed it. After waiting for two minutes, he opened it again.

"Did I make a mistake?"

There was only one building icon in the construction column, and the rest were dim and unclear. The only building was...

The Stench Corpse Farm...

[Stench Corpse Farm] Undead don't need a 996 schedule; they prefer 007! This farm can shorten the crop growth cycle based on the labor time of stationed undead. The higher the quality of the corpses, the better the crop quality.

Materials needed for construction: 5 corpses, 30 units of lumber, 100 gold coins.

Maximum workforce: 4.

It's normal for undead buildings to require corpses, and lumber is understandable, but why would this building be a farm?

Shouldn't it be something like a bone heap tomb or a slaughterhouse?

Night Three More turned his head to look at the old bones grazing in the distance, helplessly shrugging his shoulders.

It seems that if he wants to develop his underlings, he can only rely on the Undead Resurrection skill to slowly recruit them.

However, this building seems to be a prerequisite structure. If he doesn't build it, subsequent buildings won't be available. But what if the subsequent buildings are equally problematic?

Furthermore, why would an undead be farming?

Frowning, Night Three More subconsciously grabbed a piece of dry bread from the cart and took a bite. Although he didn't feel hunger, he liked having something to chew on when he was thinking.

This black bread, similar to a brick, served as his chewing gum.

But as the bread entered his mouth, blue text flashed in his mind:

[You have consumed the life force of 00001, currently accumulating life force 00001.]

Night Three More: !!!

So that's how it is!

It turns out that besides devouring corpses, he can also gain life force by eating regular food. And 10 points of life force can be converted into 1 point of soul energy.

Does this mean he can live a normal person's life?

Thinking of this, Night Three More climbed onto the cart.

Jerky, effective!

Coarse wheat cakes, effective!

Water, ineffective,

Wood...

Forget it!

"Well, it seems that life force can only be obtained from food made from biological materials." Night Three More picked his teeth and concluded.

Although strictly speaking, wood is also a biological material, it has a poor taste and negligible energy.

"Alright, I'll build this Stench Corpse Farm!"

Although the name is a bit creepy, Night Three More is not foolish. The effect of this farm is powerful, even changing the laws of nature.

Speeding up the growth cycle, is it related to the laws of time?

Night Three More shook his head.

Who, when full, would do such a thing?

It's like a high-level mage using an earth magic curse to dig a pit, a ridiculous idea even for the most imaginative long-nosed faces.

But whether it's good or bad, it's clear that it benefits Night Three More. There's no need to hesitate between choosing corpses and regular food.

The more troublesome part is that the life force in food is relatively low. Despite the food on this cart being enough for a normal person for half a month, it only provided him with 1502 life force, which is incredibly low.

As for how he knew?

Undead digestive capabilities are no joke!

After patting his unchanged stomach, Night Three More jumped off the empty cart. Then, he picked up five arrows from the ground, casually selected two longswords, one for him and one for the old bones.

As for the cow, it was still led by the old bones.

"7 soul energy."

Night Three More licked his lips. Setting aside the matter of the Stench Corpse Farm for now, he had to settle the debt he owed today.

The target, naturally, was those goblins in the abandoned jungle.

According to Lord Ling, goblins usually stay deep in the jungle because there are more animals and abundant food. Although goblins might appear in the outer periphery of the jungle, they are usually the elderly or the weak expelled from the community.

Those who don't want to be eaten by their kin can only leave early and search for food in the outskirts where prey is scarce.

And now, they have become prey for Night Three More.

Carefully exploring the outskirts of the jungle, Night Three More examined every broken branch, every footprint, and even each handful of fresh soil, checking for feces to determine if it was fresh or old, how many days had passed, and what they had eaten...

Two hours later, Night Three More finally found his first prey of the day:

An elderly goblin with white hair!

This goblin was withered all over, wearing nothing but tattered rags, and held only a short cane. When Night Three More spotted it, it was happily picking small mushrooms near a tree stump.

Rather than rushing up and stabbing the old goblin, Night Three More observed for a while and signaled the old bones to lead the cow casually past.

As expected, just the sound of a rustling bush made the old goblin alert. It immediately hid behind the tree and observed.

Upon seeing an elderly human leading a fat black cow, its eyes lit up, and its mouth started salivating. However, after contemplating with the short cane for a while, it shook its head and quietly retreated from the spot, disappearing into the forest.

But not long after, it quickly reappeared, followed by six slightly younger goblins. Their weapons were more diverse, with pointed wooden spears and stone axes as standard. The leader, a one-armed goblin, even carried a short knife.

"Old man, if you dare to deceive me, I'll stew you in a pot tonight!" The one-armed goblin said menacingly.

Since the stone wall was built around the outer jungle, humans rarely appeared. Occasionally, some adventurous kids would climb over the wall for excitement, providing the goblins with rare moments of joy.

Human flesh was much tastier than the bloody meat of animals.

But encountering an old man, accompanied by a fat cow, was the first time they had heard of it.

Even if they doubted it, the desire for food prompted them to come over. Even if they were deceived, they could still enjoy a meal tonight, though it might be a bit sour and tough.

"Boss, it's a cow, a real cow!"

An emaciated goblin reported excitedly.

"Speak when necessary! Surround them!" The one-armed goblin added, "Don't touch the cow first; chop the old man!"

Chop, chop, chop! The old bones and the black cow were instantly surrounded by these goblins.

"Hehe, this old man's arm belongs to me!"

A tall and thin goblin couldn't resist and, holding a spear, stabbed it toward the old bones. Whoever killed got the first pick of the food—that was one of their few principles.

But with a buzzing sound, a beast-tooth arrow pierced into its left eye with tremendous force, penetrating its brain and ending its dream of a delicious meal.

"Ambush!"
