The click of Vixen's stiletto heels echoed as she strode into Lady Serena's lavish office, Jessa and two other high-ranking Matriarchs falling into step behind her.
"You've demanded my presence, Lady Serena."
Lady Serena turned from the panoramic window overlooking the sprawling Syndicate compound. Steel glinted in her eyes. "Word on the street is those 14th Street Thugs have been pushing into territory belonging to struggling ladies. Extorting shops. Now I am putting those shops under our protection." She hissed through gritted teeth. "First the politicians ignore the cries for help. Now these rats think they can disrespect everything?"
Serena slammed her palm on the desk, making the women flinch. "This insult will not stand! Those ladies could be your sisters" She spoke to everyone in the room, but to no one particularly. "Let's remind these sewer dwellers exactly who holds the reins in this city."
