Chapter 1 - Chapter 2

Nicholas POV

"Alpha!" My Beta, Eddie, called, "You may wanna take this phone call!"

"Why?" I shouted, "I'm busy here!" I focused my eyes on the pack warriors. I had them training today after we nearly lost a spar match with a neighboring pack--talk about embarrassing. At the sound of Eddie's voice, the all stopped moving and turned to me, "What are you all looking at? Continue practice!" I bellowed, using my alpha tone.

My Beta ran toward me with the cellphone in his hand.

"What is it?" I growled, watching him rush at me.

"Phone...you...take..." He heaved, out of breathe from how fast he ran.

"Wolves don't have asthma," I poked him in the head as I took the phone.

"You jackass, I do! Me equals wolf with asthma" He heaved as I ripped the phone out of his grasp.

"Hello?" I answered the phone.

"Yes, is this Alpha Nicholas?" A female voice inquired on the other end.

"Yeah, who's this?" I asked.

"This is Nurse Hoffman, from St. Brigid's in New York City, She began.

"I don't know anyone in New York City, wrong number." I went to hang up the phone.

"No wait Alpha! This is about your mate!" I heard the nurse on the other end scream into the phone.

"My what?" I shoved the phone back to my ear in shock.

"Your Mate Alpha. This is Nicholas Whitestone, right? Alpha of the Whitefalls Pack" She asked.

"Yes! Yes this is hel Who is it? Who is my mate?"! rushed out in excitement. I could hardly believe what I was hearing over the phone...after all I was 29...I had given up hope for a mate four years ago at 25, when I had thought my mate must have died or that I might never meet them.

I thought now that I was too old...nearly thirty...

"Your mate's name is Samuel Albright" I felt the nurse smiling through the cellphone, "his information has been faxed to you as well as some papers to finalize you as his guardian." The nurse continued.

"His guardian?" I repeated as my brain processed the information; my mate was male and needed a guardian...that could only mean one thing. "How old is he?"

"Your mate is 16 years old as of today." The nurse was so chipper it hurt my ears.

"Alright, thank you." I thanked the nurse then hung up the phone. "Yo Eddie!" I shouted and waved my hand, beckoning him to come forward.

"Yes, Alpha?" Eddie stood next to me.

"It's my mate." I smiled.

"Your mate? You're serious?" He smiled back. "I thought you were too old now to even find one! How the hell-?"

I shook my head energetically and smiled, laughing at my joy and cutting Eddie off with it. "Come on Eddie, his papers are inside." I sprinted inside the house.

"Whoa, Nick hold it!" My Beta cried out as I tumbled up the stairs, leaving him to catch up to me.

I rushed into my office and saw papers sitting on the fax machine. I pulled them out and sat at my desk, reading with interest.

Name: Samuel George Albright

Age: 16

Birthday: July 31, 20XX

Family: Mother- Mary Ellen Albright. Brother-Matthew Albright. Sister- Jenna Albright Stein.

Father left family, considered deceased.

Grade Average: D+

School: St. Mary's High School.

There was a school picture to the side of his information; his head was a dark brown mess, but his eyes were water colored.

Baby looks yummy, My wolf, Aztec, drooled.

"You will not eat him." I answered him.

I will eat him....

"Aztec," I chided, "He isn't food."

I mean I'm gonna fuck him.

"He's a kid..." I rationalized.

Sixteen is not a child, and is plenty old enough for me.

"You're terrible." I choked a bit.

The wolf wasn't wrong, Samuel was cute, even in the picture. I wanted to make him mine all at once.

"So?" I heard Eddie in the doorway, "You like him?"

"He's adorable." I turned to face Eddie.

"How old?" He asked at once.

"Sixteen today." I chuckled, he was thirteen years younger than me.

"Damn, he is young. No wonder the Moon Goddess kept you waiting so long" Eddie smiled as he walked in the room.

He peered over my chair, "Looks like someone isn't into school." He referred to my Baby Boy's low grade average."We can fix that." I smirked to myself.

"So? What is the plan?" Eddie asked me as I began to fill out the guardianship papers.

"He will come here, be with me." I filled out the paper.

"What about his family?" Eddie wondered,

"I am his family now, me and this pack. He will get over the old one." I finished the guardianship paper and faxed them back to the proper authorities.

"Bit possessive." Eddie coughed.

"Am not." I sneered.

Am so. Aztec answered in my head. Baby Boy is ours, forever.

I flexed my muscled as I sat back in my chair and went through the rest of the papers. They had included all of his school transcripts, and even a few police reports on his father, a guy called Robert Massey.

"So, Albright's the mother's name." I thought out loud.

I looked back at his mother's name, Mary Ellen Albright, and felt a strange sense of deja-vu.

I opened my computer and googled her at once. She was a famous doctor, an orthopedic surgeon based In New York. I studied her face for a moment before realization hit me; I had seen that woman once, when I was younger, she had been in town to do some sort of business...some doctor conference or other. My mother, a pediatrician, had gone as well, taking me with her. I remembered that the Mary Ellen woman had a hot temper, and that she wasn't shy about how she felt about supernatural beings, especially werewolves...she had a vendetta.

My heart ached to think of my mate with such a woman, and Aztec growled at the thought of her turning our mate against us just because she was messed up in the head.
