Lloyd POV
I gazed at Mister Glasses in astonishment, bewildered by his uncanny ability to anticipate my actions. Despite my efforts to voice my inquiries, his firm grip prevented any words from escaping my lips, trapping my thoughts within the confines of my mind. Frustration welled up inside me as I awaited his next move, hoping for release from his grasp, yet finding myself ensnared in his relentless hold.
"I cannot allow you to end your own life," he stated firmly, his voice resolute. "Instead, I propose a deal: answer my questions truthfully, and I may consider overlooking this entire ordeal."
As I continued to lock eyes with Mister Glasses, a wave of resentment surged through me, fueled by his persistent probing into my private affairs. His unwavering determination to uncover the truth only intensified my frustration, leaving me to ponder whether he harbored an obsessive fixation akin to that of the deceased leader from the Order of Assassins- an unsetting thought that sent shivers down my spine.
Reluctantly, I acquiesced to his demands with a begrudging nod, signaling my tentative agreement to comply with his interrogation. Yet, to my dismay, his grip remain steadfast, leaving me ensnared in his grasp with no apparent reprieve in sight.
"Promise me," he added, his expression tingled with sorrow. "That you won't try to kill yourself."
As I met Mister Glasses' unwavering gaze, his words cut through the tension-laden air with a weighty signification that I couldn't ignore. His request for assurance regarding my well-being, albeit unexpected, carried a genuine undertone that compelled me to consider his plea earnestly.
With a reluctant yet affirmative nod, I acquiesced to his demand, granting him the solemn promise he sought. The subtle relaxation of his grip on my jaw provided a fleeting sense of relief, allowing me to reclaim the autonomy of my voice, albeit temporarily.
"I promise," I affirmed quietly, the gravity of my words underscoring the seriousness of my commitment. It was a pact forged in the crucible of our precarious circumstances, a fragile bond tethering to a precarious existence amid uncertainty and intrigue.
With my jaw now freed from his grasp, I met his gaze with a mixture of defiance and curiosity, awaiting his next inquiry with a guarded demeanor. Yet, before delving into the specifics of his interrogation, I couldn't help but voice my lingering uncertainty, seizing the opportunity to address the underlying motivation behind his unwavering interest in my affairs.
"What do you want to ask?" I inquired cautiously, my tone laced with a hint of skepticism. "But before that, why are you so fixated on me?"
"I need to confirm something, that's all," he answered, his tone measured. "Now, my turn. Why did you try to kill Noah and his friends back at the prison? But before that, why did you kill everyone at that local prison?"
I paused, weighing my words carefully. "I wanted to eliminate all those criminals because they didn't deserve to live, and the guards were obstacles in my path," I replied to his first question. "As for Noah, I felt it was unfair that he got to live a good life while I suffered every waking moment since birth. His friends just happened to be in the way as well."
Mister Glasses nodded solemnly before posing his net question, "Why did you adopt a fake persona?"
I shifted uncomfortably, feeling the weight of his gaze. "I didn't want to expose my true identity," I admitted sheepishly
His next question came swiftly, cutting through the air, "Why did you lie to me when I asked if you had been experimented on?"
My annoyance simmered beneath the surface. "Do you think I'm foolish enough to disclose that?" I retorted, frustration lacing my words. "You would have imprisoned me, just like you attempted to do earlier."
Mister Glasses shrugged casually before probing further, "Why did you lie to me about going blind?"
I hesitated for a moment before responding, "I needed to shed the persona of Abaddon; I was never actually going blind."
He reached for the lamp on the desk and directed its beam toward my face. "But didn't Victor mention that your eyes were sensitive to light?"
"I received healing," I asserted, pushing the lamp away from my face. "I obtained some restorative tea from an acquaintance of my uncle's."
"How do you know that the school was looking for you?" he queried, his tone probing. "Or should I say, how did you know that you were the Chosen One?"
I responded simply, relying on the only plausible explanation I had. "I saw it in my dream."
Mister Glasses frowned, his eyes narrowing at my response. He stood up abruptly before declaring, "I instructed you to answer truthfully, and you didn't. I'm stepping out for a moment, and when I return, I expect honesty."
As he exited the interrogation room, I sat there in bewilderment, unable to comprehend what had just transpired. What had just happened?
…
Heroes POV
The group trailed behind Sensei Wu and his brother as they made their way to the interrogation room. They were taken aback to learn that Lloyd had been taken there, but what startled them even more was the sight of Sensei Garmadon's anger. It was a rare occurrence to witness him in such a state, especially since his purification, so this display was entirely new to them. As they approached the room, they found Ms. Lily and the man standing outside, who promptly halted their advance upon spotting the group.
Sensei Garmadon's voice boomed with anger as he demanded, "What is the meaning of this? Why have you imprisoned my son?"
The man scrutinized Sensei Garmadon from head to toe before responding, "We have our reasons for taking this action."
Sensei Wu interjected calmly, "Could you please enlighten us? Perhaps it could dispel the tension in the air…"
Ms. Lily intervened, extending a hand to halt Sensei Wu mid-sentence. "I regret to inform you that we're unable to divulge such details."
Sensei Garmadon regarded Ms. Lily and the man with a mixture of frustration and concern. Despite any disagreement he may have with Lloyd, he knew that his son was not inherently bad. "As his father, I believe it's only fair that I'm informed about my son's action.s"
Brian Salvatore emerged from the interrogation room, his presence drawing attention from the group. Taking in the scene, he inquired, "What's causing all this commotion out here?"
Upon grasping the situation, he offered his assistance, addressing Sensei Garmadon respectfully, "How may I be of service, esteemed elder?"
Sensei Garmadon observed the man before him, a figure he'd heard much about from his brother, and his initial impression didn't lean toward favorability. "What I want is my son out of there," he demanded firmly, his paternal instincts overriding any reservations he had about this man.
Brian directed his gaze towards the one-sided window, meeting Lloyd's bored stare. Aware of the strained relationship between Lloyd and his biological parent, he pivoted his attention back to Sensei Garmadon.
"Why don't we ask your son if he wants your help?" Brian suggested, preempting any response from Sensei Garmadon. With a press of a button, Lloyd is now able to hear their conversation. "Lloyd, your father is here and he wants to help you. Do you want his help?"
Lloyd's gaze snapped away from the ceiling, drawn to the one-sided window even though he couldn't see through it. "Father, are you there?"
"Yes Lloyd, it's me," Sensei Garmadon replied, his voice filled with concern. "What happened? I'll do everything in my power to help you get out of there."
Lloyd regarded the window with a mixture of pity and resolve before speaking, "I apologize, Father, but I do not need your help." Sitting up straight, he continued. "I'm sorry you wasted your time coming here."
Sensei Garmadon was taken aback, unable to comprehend his son's words. "What are you saying, Lloyd?" What nonsense is this?"
"You don't understand the situation, father," Lloyd replied, his gaze cold as he stared at the one-sided window. "I do not need your assistance. Neither you nor your mother were ever there for me when I needed you, so there is no point in needing you now. You can go and save Ninjago; you don't need me for that."
Brian clicked the button again, silencing the speakers. Sensei Garmadon was stunned and wounded by his son's rejection. Is that truly how Lloyd saw him?
Sensei Wu placed a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder before speaking softly, "You can only help those who seek it." Leading his brother away from the area, he added. "Lloyd will understand that one day."
The rest of the gang trailed behind, shocked by Lloyd's refusal for help. Kai leaned in close to his friends and whispered, "Lloyd is crazy! He said no to getting out of trouble for free!"
Nod and murmurs of agreement rippled through the group. Noah observed his saddened uncle. Despite their disagreement, he never turned his back on his father. Shaking his head, Noah concluded that Lloyd was a lost cause for now. Their priority was stopping the Overlord and saving Ninjago once again. Lloyd could be dealt with later.
