Chereads / Sudden God / Chapter 16 - Corpse Yard

Chapter 16 - Corpse Yard

"Imchul on the east side. Hayan sis, you create a holy barrier around you. There will be a single zombie incoming."

"Roger!" After dealing with the zombies on the front, Imchul did not dally and go to the east side.

"Un." Kim Hayan nods as she instantly cast a white golden round barrier around her and Yoon Yuna.

"Hayan you don't have to deal with the zombie, Yuna will deal with it. Just focus on supporting Imchul and Myeong-suk with purifications. Yuna do it."

"Y-Yes! Call for the wind of... Wind blade!" Yuna chanted a wind spell and took down the zombie that was scratching the barrier.

"Myeong-suk if you are done, help Imchul..."

The reason why Kim Yo-han was able to remain in aria for so long despite his rank. It's not just because of the gratitude but also his command skills.

However, when Aria was able to recruit someone who had a commander class that provided buffs. They deemed him useless.

One of the zombies was able to get in the gap and sprinted towards Kim Yo-han. But it was just a C-rank monster, with a flick of his finger, it was gone.

"Imchul, Myeong-suk you let one of them get in, you two should be careful next time. Your job is to not let any monster pierce your defense. You have allies that are weak to close combat behind you."

"I understand, Boss!" Imchul's eyes became serious. It was his job and he couldn't let that happen again. His food is at stake here if he doesn't show good results. Burning with passion, Imchul will not let any monster breakthrough.

Hwang Myeong-suk became faster. She prioritizes the monsters that are breaking in. She swung her sword which released holy light. There were too many zombies coming from the east side, she was sweating.

Yoon Yuna's casting speed was slow.

"Yuna don't bother using single-target spells. It takes time. Use area spells, but control them so you will not inflict damage on your allies. Sis, continue healing Imchul and Myeong-suk."

Kim Hayan could use an area of purification for the zombies as it was their weakness. But the battle would be quick. What Kim Hayan needs is experience in a support role. Using large spells will consume more mana and it's not practical.

She needs to use her mana minimally, they are still far from conquering the dungeon.

The other members also lack team battle experience and Kim Yo-han plans for them to have a sense of battle formation.

It did not take long for all the zombies to fall.

"Great job, everyone. There will be no enemies coming. You should take the loot for now and we will take a little break."

Everyone took a deep breath. This dungeon usually needs a large number of people in a party as the zombies are very fast. But, their party only consists of one type of role, A defender, a warrior, a mage, and a support.

Raiding the dungeon with this team is a suicide. Not to mention, Corpse Yard is known for its large amount of zombies.

"Boss, You are amazing. How did you know where the enemies at? I cannot see well because of the fog." Imchul asked Kim Yo-han.

"It's years of experience. The rustle of the bushes, the tremble of the ground. If you are training your senses, you'll know those things."

Kim Yo-han did not lie. He already knew about this dungeon. It's where he would usually train all the new members of the guild. His eyes can see through the fog as clear as day.

With Kim Hayan's light magic, they could see well but it was not enough to see far.

"I still have a lot to learn."

"How long ago did you become a hunter Imchul?"

"About six months. I was excited when I awakened, I thought I could finally eat more food! But my excitement was short-lived, My skill is low ranked. It's hard to rank up."

"..."

The Gods and Constellations are neglecting humans. From Lucas's memories, God only actively supports the superior species, unlike humans who are at the bottom of the food chain.

They overlooked those who were making hard efforts. They don't even care if you suffer and work hard to rank up. At some point, Kim Yo-han detested the gods. They don't even look at him.

Like, why would you need a high-rank skill to rank up to the next level? That's not making sense.

Furthermore, upgrading skills is not something anyone can do. There are requirements, but the thing is, these requirements are hidden. You need enlightenment to upgrade your skills.

Enlightenment is the biggest problem. Not everyone can achieve it. Some would need to experience life-and-death situations just to upgrade their skills.

"Now that you joined my guild. I will help you with that problem."

"Huh? What do you mean by that boss? Do you have Skill Orbs or Skill Upgrade Crystal?" Imchul asked in confusion.

"What are you guys talking about? We already extracted the crystals. Out of the 37 zombies, only 11 have magic crystals and some alchemy materials." Hwang Myeong-suk reported to Kim Yo-han.

"Boss, is it okay for me to tell her?" Imchul was not someone whose lips were loose. He will ask for permission.

"No need, I will tell them myself... Yuna, Myeong-suk. I knew your hardships, your efforts, and your never-ending will to try to level up your rank. But as you know, we are constricted by our skill, it depends on the rank of our skill for us to rank up. If you have a skill orb, you will be lucky to get a higher-rank skill but you know, trying to get a skill orb is a dream for people like you... So, what I'm trying to say is, the gods will not answer your prayers."

Kim Yo-han said the harshest truth. He did not want them to be hopeful of that constellation or gods above. Those beings are narcissistic idiots who only see mortals as playthings. They won't even treat you as a slave whose ranking in the Immortal world is worse than cattle. Mortals are ants to them, desperate ants trying to climb ranks.

They would only see you as an equal if you were on the same footing as them. In other words, becoming a god yourself, below that? Don't delude yourselves.

And skill orbs? That's the rarest object in the whole world. You are luckiest if you got that thing. But buying that? It's never your turn, those with deep pockets will not let you.

Skill orbs usually appear in auctions. The last time it sold off, the price was 1 billion dollars for a price of one. A White magic crystal will fetch you 10 million dollars. In other words, 10 White magic crystals.

And do you know where to get that kind of crystal?

SSS-rank dungeon. The only dungeon in the whole world is the demon King's tower.

"Y-Yo-Han isn't that a little bit cruel? Are you saying that no matter what we do, we won't advance no matter what?... Not that I already know about that. My superiors in my former guild told me the same. I wanted to prove to them, that they were wrong. Not you too Yo-han."

Hwang Myeon-suk was hurt by Kim Yo-han's words. About a year ago, she was ousted from the guild due to her mistake. They told her the truth, but no one helped her. Because she knows well... She does not accept the truth like Kim Yo-han in the past. Stubborn to the end.

Yoon Yuna looked down. Her body was trembling. She may be timid but that does not mean she is stupid. She already accepted her fate long ago, but the amber in her heart never gave up.

Kim Hayan stayed silent. No one was able to see her smile. A gentle smile.

"The gods will not reward you. The constellations will not look at you. They are just selfish egocentric bastards."

"Eh? B-Boss isn't that a bit- wouldn't they punish you for that?" Imchul was slightly scared when Kim Yo-han cursed the gods.

"Haha, Those idiots are too busy watching their favorites they don't have time to look at us." Kim Yo-han scoffed at the above. He then turns his attention back to Hwang Myeong-suk. "I was like you Myeong-suk. A year ago, I was stuck at D-rank for five years."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I have a way Myeong-suk. If you join my guild, no, that would make me the same fool as those from above... Myeong-suk, Yuna, and Imchul, if you show me your efforts. I will give you all a chance. A chance that will turn your whole life upside-down."

"H-How?" Yoon Yuna raised her hand. When she heard his words, she couldn't help but be excited.

"Follow my commands. I want to see good teamwork."

"T-that simple?" She said.

"Yes, simple as that... Now we shall embark on the next round." Kim Yo-han smiled as he led them.

Hwang Myeong-suk clutched her fist and placed it on her chest. She saw the light.

A hand patted her shoulder. She turns her head.

"Just follow him. He will help you... My brother knows how painful it is."
