Only a fool would directly confront over a dozen demon generals, especially with tens of thousands of monsters behind them.
Eddie's first move was to rush toward the nearest juvenile Nine-Headed Beast, intending to cling to it for dear life, then summon the Bronze Summoning Grimoire to protect him with a shield while using a teleportation scroll to escape back to the ancient oak tree.
In a situation where attacking was prohibited, fighting an adult Nine-Headed Beast was arduous, but capturing a juvenile Nine-Headed Beast seemed feasible.
However, would the demon generals let Eddie leave as he wished?
Almost immediately as Eddie made his move, all the demon generals sprang into action.
Eddie noticed that the teleportation items in the Demon Abyss differed from those in the Dragon Ascension Land.
The warriors of Dragon Ascension Land mainly used scrolls that required unfolding and summoning with spiritual energy.
Not having paid close attention during his last escape, this time Eddie clearly saw the black objects hurled by the demon generals at him – fist-sized black orbs that would silently shatter upon contact, forming a black pillar of light that instantaneously transported all targets within its spread to a designated location.
Had Eddie not been greedy, intent on holding onto the struggling juvenile Nine-Headed Beast, he might have easily dodged the orbs with his agility.
But now, firmly grasping the juvenile beast that refused to submit, Eddie found himself once again transported to a deadly battleground, this time facing not one but five demon generals.
After entering the battleground, the demon generals relaxed, convinced that the human male had no chance of leaving alive.
They began discussing how to torment Eddie. Eddie couldn't understand the language of the Demon Abyss, and even if he could, he had no time to pay attention.
The juvenile Nine-Headed Beast in his arms struggled violently; though it was only a youngling with three heads, its body was larger than a bull's, and its long necks resembled giant pythons.
The beast's heads, larger than those of pythons, were adorned with strange horns and cheek fins, and its mouth was filled with sharp teeth like small knives, causing Eddie to be extremely busy fending off its bites.
"Ha ha ha!" The five demon generals burst into laughter at the comical scene. They began to suspect that this young human was not attacking the Demon Abyss but was instead being chased by the Nine-Headed Beast and had fled to this place.
The only mystery they couldn't solve was how the young man had a teleportation scroll to the ancient battleground. Could it be that he had been there before?
The demon generals even speculated that if they did nothing and merely watched, the young human would probably not survive and would be devoured alive by the Nine-Headed Beast.
Among all the human incursions into the Demon Abyss, this young man seemed the weakest and most laughable. They had never seen such a foolish human warrior before!
In the midst of the chaos, Eddie clung desperately to the juvenile Nine-Headed Beast, knowing that his plan was now more perilous than ever.
He needed to act quickly and decisively if he was to escape with the beast and make it back to the ancient oak tree.
Despite the laughter of the demon generals and the relentless struggle of the Nine-Headed Beast, Eddie's determination did not waver.
He knew that the success of his mission hinged on his ability to outmaneuver both the beast and the demon generals.
As he strategized his next move, the juvenile Nine-Headed Beast continued its frenzied efforts to break free, but Eddie held on with all his might, waiting for the right moment to enact his daring escape plan.
After subduing the juvenile Nine-Headed Beast with a barrage of punches and finally knocking out all three of its heads, Eddie was faced with uproarious laughter from the demon generals.
"Do you intend to amuse us to death, human? With your strength, that might actually be more effective than fighting us!" one of the tallest demon generals said in fluent Common Tongue of the Dragon Ascension Land, prompting further laughter from the others.
"Can I surrender?" Eddie asked, only to be met with more laughter. The demon generals found the idea ludicrous, as the concept of surrender did not exist in the deadly battleground.
One must die for the other to leave, and even a demon king couldn't alter this rule set by the ancient laws.
The shortest and most muscular of the demon generals solemnly nodded, "I allow you to surrender... right before you die, ha ha ha!" Eddie realized there was no escaping the inevitable conflict.
With no peaceful resolution possible, he quickly transformed from a peacemaker into a warrior, ready to fight to the end.
Summoning the Bronze Summoning Grimoire and the Golden Thorn Flower, Eddie prepared for battle.
The demon generals, baffled by his choice of a new apprentice-level summon and a Thorn Flower, mocked him further, suggesting he take his time and even choose his method of death.
Amid their jests, the thinnest demon general, clad in a strange tight black robe and lacking armor, stepped forward.
His gaunt face shrouded in black mist, he summoned a Silver Grimoire and began conjuring a red light while chanting. The red light emitted a piercing shriek, sending chills down the spine.
As the demons continued to mock and underestimate him, Eddie knew that this was his moment. He had to use their overconfidence to his advantage and turn the tables.
With his summons ready and his strategy in place, Eddie braced himself for the impending battle, determined to prove that even in the face of overwhelming odds, he was not one to be taken lightly.
Eddie's eyebrows furrowed as he observed the immense power unleashed by the red light summoned by the demon general in the black robe.
The intensity of the explosion and the scorching wind it generated were evidence of its destructive capability.
The protective shield around Eddie vibrated under the impact, indicating the magnitude of the force.
As the ground cracked and red-hot lava surged, the demon general pressed his ghostly claw on the Silver Grimoire, chanting again. A burst of firelight emerged, initially small but rapidly expanding with the help of the firelight until it formed a stream of flame, flowing everywhere.
Eddie realized the challenge he faced against a demon general capable of such elemental summoning. Thankfully, it seemed only the thin demon general possessed a summoning grimoire, making him the primary threat among the five.
The tallest demon general confidently stepped forward, summoning black flames onto his giant sword and advancing through the flames without harm, leaving a trail of burning footsteps.
The shortest and most muscular general brandished his axe, summoning a skeletal head onto it.
The axe transformed into a terrifying skeletal axe, its eyes glowing green as a swarm of fly-like black dots circled around it.
The winged and obese demon generals chose to observe, smiling as they watched the unfolding battle.
Eddie, recognizing the strategic disadvantage of battling on this fiery terrain, knew he had to act quickly and decisively.
With his opponents underestimating him, he prepared to turn the tables and demonstrate the true extent of his abilities.
The battle was about to escalate, and Eddie was ready to prove that he was not an easy target.
The demon generals could not believe that the young human before them could defeat three demon generals in a joint attack, especially with the added power of the elemental beasts 'Molten Lava' and 'Inferno Flame'.
They scoffed at Eddie's attempt to defend himself with a single summoned creature, a Golden Spiky Flower, which seemed insignificant to them.
Although the Spiky Flower was a plant-type beast and somewhat effective against creatures from the Abyss, its apparent low level and juvenile state made it seem like a desperate act.
"Looks like I need to be careful, those Spiky Flowers are notorious for their spit attacks!" the tallest demon general mocked with a laugh.
"Seriously, look at it, it's still digesting something. What did it eat? The battle's about to start, and it's not even ready," the shortest and most robust demon general added, as they both approached Eddie's protective aura, armed with a flaming sword and a skull axe.
Their intention was to scare Eddie with their weapons, mocking him as they closed in. They completely underestimated the Spiky Flower's attack capabilities. However, as they casually approached with their weapons, Eddie's lips curled into a mysterious smile.
"Huh?" The demon general in the black robe, who had been closely observing Eddie's expressions, found it odd that the young human did not show fear or despair. Could it be that he was feigning weakness?
Just as the black-robed demon general was about to warn his companions to be cautious, Eddie suddenly darted out of his protective aura like a shooting star.
In an instant, his movements and figure were a blur, too fast for anyone to see clearly. By the time he reappeared, the two demon generals who had approached him were already collapsing to the ground.
When Eddie reappeared, the two demon generals behind him had already fallen thunderously to the ground.
"What excellent fertilizer for my flowers!"
Eddie said as he swiftly dragged the two demon generals, whose hearts were pierced and bleeding profusely, into his protective aura.
He quickly summoned two offshoots of the Golden Spiky Flower.
The offshoots opened their massive mouths and forcibly swallowed the struggling demon generals, along with their burning swords and skull axes, alive.
The offshoots then extended their long roots, connecting tightly to the main plant and continuously transferring the absorbed energy from the digestion to the main body.
The remaining three demon generals were left in utter shock, as if struck by a bolt from the blue.
Those were two demon generals, how could they possibly be devoured without resistance by the Spiky Flower? What just happened? What did that young human do?
