Back to the Pack
My gaze swept over the mansion, a place of shadows and secrets, of memories and mysteries as I breathed in the air, a sigh of
relief.
"Just like I left it indeed," I murmured.
"Amelia!" Jennifer called out to me, her voice cutting through my reverie.
I giggled– a chirping joyful sound as I turned towards Jennifer, my steps quick and eager as I rushed forward, my eyes shining with affection.
My hand clutched my bag firmly as I followed Jennifer, our footsteps echoed, a percussive rhythm as we traversed the hallway, the light from the fading sun streaming through the windows, casting long skeletal shadows upon the floor.
The hallway was still and silent, only the footsteps of servants were heard as they walked back and forth the space. Their heads bowed in obeisance as they sighted me and Jennifer.
