Chapter 25 - PANSY

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: DEAR NAME ~ IU]

Lily stepped out of the washroom after giving herself a minute of pep talk. She donned Jeffrey's jacket over her shoulder, covering the side that was ripped on her gown. Walking back to where Jeffrey was seated, Lily got herself comfortable on her chair, but she couldn't get herself to eat what was on the table.

"You haven't touched your food?" Jeffrey asked, picking up a glass of water that was half empty, and he emptied it in one gulp.

Lily smiled nervously; she gave one last look at the food on the table. It wasn't good to waste food, she said to herself, then she picked up her spoon and started eating the food in large bites so she could finish it quickly. She would probably have indigestion after now. Lily nodded her head as she swallowed the food without chewing. When she was finally done, she dabbed her lips with the tablecloth.

"I didn't know you would enjoy the food more than I did." Jeffrey commented with a smile.

"Hm?" Lily, who wasn't paying attention because she was tapping her feet on the ground trying to stop herself from throwing up, didn't hear what Jeffrey had said either.

Jeffrey smiled and pointed at the cleared plate that was in front of Lily. "Seeing how you finished it, you must have loved it so much."

Lily nodded in realization, "You can say that again." If only you knew, she completed in her mind while giving Jeffrey a sweet smile.

Currently with their table cleared of all plates, Lily and Jeffrey now stared at each other. It was Jeffrey who spoke first,

"How about school? I hope all these issues are not affecting your studies."

Lily pressed her lips. It was the way he worried about her that warmed her heart. She nodded her head gently, "I've been trying my best; I'm not the top of my class, neither is my result so great, but I'm doing okay." She responded.

Jeffrey nodded his head, "That's good to hear. Always let me know if you are having issues in any field, and I'll be more than willing to help you out."

Lily nodded; the man in front of her was just awesome. He even knows how to teach, different fields at that. Lily, this is the kind of man you should spend your time with, not one with guns and knives... Lily shook her head; why was she thinking of the devil in the middle of her date.

"Everything okay?" Jeffrey asked when he noticed the girl shake her head. "Don't you want me to teach you? I understand if you don't -"

Lily hit the table, "No, it's fine. I love it, teach me. I'm very much okay with it." She blurted out.

Jeffrey paused for a moment; he was startled with the sudden hit of the table but then he finally started laughing, and Lily joined him too.

Lily pressed her lips; they were now laughing and bonding. It was time for her to confess her feelings; she nodded to herself. Then she moved up her glasses, wetting her lower lips she tried to get ready. Then she said,

"Jeffrey, I-"

"We should leave, I have work to do at the station." Jeffrey cut her short, when he noticed Lily's mouth was hanging open he asked, "Did you want to say something?"

"Oh no, I guess we are in sync. I wanted to tell you that I have school works I needed to attend to." Lily sighed; this was not how she had planned it out. But it was all good as long as she had a date with Jeffrey there would be other days for her to confess her feelings.

Jeffrey nodded, grabbing his car key they made their way out of the restaurant with Lily walking behind him. Her shoulders dropped in disappointment.

"Um..I'll take the cab; I have to meet up with my reading club." Lily lied holding her clutch bag tightly.

Jeffrey nodded, "Alright, be careful I'll call you." The man walked around entering his car; he started off the ignition when Lily knocked on his car window.

"Your jacket, you're forgetting it." She tried to remove it.

Jeffrey waved his hands dismissively, "Don't worry; take your time. We can always meet up, so give it to me then." He replied before driving out from the place.

Lily stood there with dreamy eyes, "He is so nice, and speaks like a true gentleman." She touched the jacket mindlessly. Lily turned and started walking towards the road where she would take a cab, that was when she saw a familiar tall figure, walking beside him was the redheaded man that touched her best friend who was now waving at her.

Lily remembered the promise she made never to appear in front of the devil and also how she ran away before he even counted to three. She turned to the other side, picked up her phone, and pretended to be in a serious call. When she saw a cab that was about to carry someone else, Lily jumped inside and begged the driver to go as the other passenger cursed at her from outside.

Lily clasped her hand to beg the passenger but she really needed to run away from the devil.

Back at where Raven and Shadow were casually taking a stroll. Shadow asked.

"Was that not the girl from the flower shop? Adolf's employee?" Shadow asked moving the stick that was resting in his mouth to the other side.

Raven, who had seen the girl before now, didn't reply; he watched as the cab drove away from there.

Shadow hummed, "I waved at her; could it be that she didn't see me or she still thinks I'm a pervert.....or maybe you're still scaring the poor girl? Raven!" The shorter agent called out.

Getting to the restaurant they had come to, Raven finally replied, "The second." Then he stepped inside.

Shadow paused for a moment, trying to understand what Raven meant by the second. "Is it some kind of code word?" He tapped fingers on his lips thoughtfully. "The second, what could it be? I must find out! He must think I'm an idiot ha!" Saying this he pushed the door and entered the restaurant.

Raven walked to the table that was at the darker side of the restaurant, which was empty, and he placed a card on it, then he casually sat on the empty chair behind the table, and Shadow joined him.

"Is this the chip?" A figure sitting in the dark corner asked.

Shadow nodded, "Yes, that's all."

The person chuckled and then asked, "Did you check the contents?"

Shadow was still the one to answer, "We are not newbies; we know exactly how these work. We won't touch what belongs to the foundation except asked to." He replied feeling a little bit annoyed.

The person in the corner nodded, "You, I am sure, but your partner who isn't replying worries me. Raven is it?"

Raven, who was not interested in engaging with the conversation, stood up, "If you want me to look at the chip badly then hand it over." Saying this he walked away from there with his hands dipped in his pocket trousers.

Shadow ran after his partner, "They always act so bossy, those foundation playmakers," he pointed out with a look of distaste on his face.

Raven paused as he watched someone hurriedly step out of the restaurant.

"Isn't that Mr. Adolf? What is he doing there?" Shadow asked.

Raven looked at the dark sky, "Get shelter; it's about to rain tears." Saying this he walked away leaving a speechless Shadow behind, who was wondering how it was going to rain when the sky was clear.
