She turned to her right and started walking towards her chamber. As she moved only a few feet away from the king's door, she noticed Jeremy approaching, his steps steady and deliberate.
Without breaking her stride, she continued walking, intending to pass by him without acknowledging his presence. But then, his voice stopped her in her tracks.
"Are you okay, My Queen?" the young man asked, his tone laced with concern. He turned to face her retreating figure.
"I'm fine, thank you for your concern," Selina replied coolly, her voice calm, but her heart racing. She made an attempt to move away, but his hand gently clasped around her wrist, stopping her.
In a fluid motion, he swirled her around to face him. "Let me see for myself." His fingers lifted her chin, turning her face slightly to the side as his eyes narrowed at the fading red mark on her skin.
Pulling her face away from his grasp, she whispered, "You should stop this, Jeremy."
