Chapter 95 - Friendship over Gold

"As the saying goes, friendship is a bond that weaves the threads of understanding, trust, and companionship, creating a tapestry of shared moments and support." After learning their friend secret, Alan and Williams were not able to hold in their own secrets as well...

"So, you guys can already use Mana." Bob asked in amazement.

"Alan even has multiple Mana affinities!" Chris eagerly exclaimed before Alan could respond to Bob's queation.

Alan and Williams nodded in agreement.

"That's not all; I can sense Mana in people or objects, even those yet to tap into their abilities. In fact, I'm confident that all four of you will unleash your powers in the future," Alan concluded.

Silence lingered as everyone absorbed Alan's words, followed by smiles breaking across their faces. Knowing the potential of Alan and the small demonstration he showed few moments ago, everyone believed Alan without any doubt. Williams and Alan shared in their friends' happiness.

Couple of nights later...

"Al, Wil, and Dave, how can we accept this? It's... it's too much. I don't want our friendship to be affected by the involvement of Gold," Ben expressed emotionally, with Bob nodding in agreement.

"I'm building my own life, when I expressd this to my family, my stepmother felt releaved, my brother puzzled and my father sad. But due to my father's insistence and my stepmother's agreement, I am forced to accept 70,000 gold coins annually for the next three years, to help build my career. This Gold holds no value to me; Friendship and relationships matter more," Dave shrugged.

Both Alan and Williams appreciated Dave's nonchalant attitude. "Bob, Ben, honestly, we've amassed more than what Dave has. Supporting a friend and his family means more than this gold for us, which we can earn anytime," Alan stated, with Williams nodding in agreement.

"In fact, let me tell you who my grandfather Alec and I really are," Alan began, before feeling a hard slap on his head. "Ouch, Wil, that hurts! Its Not funny," Alan glared at Williams, who reciprocated with an even fiercer glare.

"Al, never, ever think about that, even in your dreams. You are my brother—My Own Brother," Williams declared each word with gritted teeth.

Alan smiled at Will, stood up, and affectionately ruffled his hair. "Who told you you're not my brother? I just want them to know the truth, to ease their minds about accepting this gold without reservation." Williams sighed in defeat, hanging his head down.

"Well, guys, my grandfather Alec was found on the steps of Morgan's Mansion on a rainy night, not even a day old. Instead of making their servents or guards take care of him or even throw him away, My great-grandfather and great-grandmother took him in, raising him as their elder son, despite being a newly married couple. They devoted almost five years of their lives caring for my grandfather."

"When John Morgan, Williams' grandfather, was born, my grandfather Alec promised to take care of John until he was a grown man. True to his words, they became inseparable and the most celebrated duo of their time at the academy and even in the Adventurer's Guild. They fought together, shedding blood for each other without reservations."

"Lucky enough, both Alec and John ended up with partners who valued their bond in the same way. After a tragic incident, my grandparents decided to leave everything and settle in a remote forest region, far from human contact. There, my grandfather passed away. Alone in the forest for years, my grandmother found me, a newborn, while traveling back after treating Will's grandmother."

"I grew up in the forest for 10 years with only my grandmother. When I turned 10, John came and took us back to their home, welcoming us with open arms. And here I am now, much like my grandfather—a 'Morgan' at heart, shaped by the love they showered upon me, and an emotional brother who rarely shows that side to anyone." Alan hugged Williams from behind, once again ruffling his hair.

Tears welled up in Williams' eyes, and all the boys felt the emotional weight of the moment.

Thats not all. When we came back, my grandparent handedover everything we left and the amount of gold, even we were unable to imagin.

So now Ben, Bob tell me, do you think giving someone the family name, the love and the respect is important or this measly amount of gold which can give a friend peace of mind and their families, much needed relief?

Bob and Ben started crying unrestrained. After a few minutes they agreed to accepted the gold. 10,000 gold for Ben to relocate their fathers buisness and clear their debt and 5,000 gold to help Bob's family to treat his mother and lead a happy and peaceful life for next few years.
