Chapter 19 - Chapter 18 Safe!

He needs me... my heart race even though I know what he mean by that.

"Yeah, you need me... a maid."

After I finished applying the gauze pad to his forehead, I returned the used items to the first aid kit. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Rozzean, who was looking straight ahead with folded arms. I suddenly felt guilty about what I had done. I'm sure if Rozzean had fans club, they would come after me for what I did.

I mean, I injured his handsome face.

I sighed again. I didn't know how many sighs I had taken today. I glanced at Rozzean; I wanted to ask him again about staying here if he was sure, but I felt shy.

I sighed once more. My hands couldn't stay still. My fingers toyed with the edge of my uniform.

"If you have something to say, just say it, don't keep looking and sighing. I can't read your mind, Tali."

My mouth hung open at his words. I was embarrassed! After what I did, I really thought he'd fire me. I even said an emotional goodbye to Manang earlier, and she assured me she'd help me if Rozzean decided to let me go from his house.

Both Manang and I thought it was my last day, but it turned out it wasn't.

"Because I'm just wondering, sir, my actions really deserved to get fired."

Where else can you find a maid who talks back to their boss and even harms them? Plus, from what I noticed about Rozzean at first, he seemed strict, grumpy, and a serious person. Based on his personality, I didn't think he'd let such an incident pass in his house.

I was wrong.

"I told you already. I need a helper, but fine, when I find a replacement for you, pack your things and go back to wherever you came from."

When I heard what he said, I stood up. I couldn't believe it; I was just testing him, and then he said that!

"Oh no! Th-there's no going back, sir. You're so indecisive, that's it. No more changing your mind. You already told me I won't be fired, and then when you find a new maid, you'll have me pack my things?"

He sighed and held his temple, massaging it. I felt a little worried that he might have a headache from my shoe-throwing incident.

"A-Are you okay, sir? Is your head hurting? Maybe you should see a doctor. It might be because of what I did to you," I said.

I didn't know whether to approach him or stay where I was as I noticed his eyebrows furrowing.

"My head hurts because of you, not because of your shoe. You're so persistent. You keep asking me if I'm sure about my decision, and I already told you earlier that I'm not going to fire you, but it seems like you'd rather be fired because of what you did."

I grabbed the first aid kit and smiled at him. Maybe he would change his mind, and I needed to get out of his room.

"No, what are you saying, sir? I'm just making sure. I'm just cautious, maybe you might change your mind," I said in a sweet tone.

"Go downstairs and tell Manang Selya that I'll have a visitor at twelve. We're having lunch here."

I raised an eyebrow. Damn, is he dating someone?

"Who, sir?" I asked.

He just looked at me, and I smiled at him, almost laughing. I nodded and returned his first aid kit to the drawer, then walked towards the door. When Rozzean gives me these looks, his patience is running out.

Before I completely left, I turned to him.

"What should I cook, sir?"

"Anything. My guest isn't picky."

I went out after hearing his answer. I wondered who his guest could be. A woman, maybe? Oh, if it's a woman, I might find some evidence... against her.

I stopped on the staircase on the second floor and put my hand to my chest.

"What if it is a woman?"

I shook my head and took a deep breath.

That's the reason you're in his house, Tangi. To find evidence that he's not fit to marry you. So if a woman is his guest and she's his girlfriend, that's in your favor.

But it's a different feeling I have now...

"Tali?"

I turned to the person who called my name. It was Manang, peering at me from downstairs. Concern filled her face as she looked up at me. I quickly descended, wearing a smile on my lips.

"I'm safe, Manang! I wasn't devoured by Sir—uh, I mean, I won't be fired! He just treated the wound he got from me! I was so surprised! I thought it was the end for me!"

I happily recounted the story to her.

Manang also jumped in excitement at what I said. We held hands and spun around.

"Is that true, dear? Thank goodness! It means you'll still stay in this house, and I'll get to keep you!"

My heart melted at Manang's words, and I stopped jumping and spinning. Manang halted too. I smiled at her and hugged her.

"Thank you so much, Manang. You're so kind to me. I promise I won't be troublesome anymore so I won't get kicked out of this house."

I felt her hand gliding across my back. I nodded in agreement. When I pulled away, she brushed my hair back and tucked it behind my ears.

"Rozzean is actually kind, dear, just grumpy and strict. But he's a good young man," Manang said.

I smiled at her and slowly lowered my head, unable to respond. I have seen his kindness several times, but maybe because of the reason why I'm here, his kindness hasn't quite reached my heart and mind.

I still wanted to see his bad side and find a reason to stop the marriage my dad wants.

However, that attitude isn't right.

In my desire to see Rozzean's wrongdoings, I'm sidelining his kindness.

I'm getting confused...

I returned my attention to Manang and led her to the kitchen.

"Oh, Manang, I forgot to mention that Sir said he has a guest coming at twelve, and I need to make it up to him. He wants me to cook," I said.

"Alright, I'll let you cook, and I'll just watch," Manang replied with a smile.

I planned to prepare three main dishes. I looked into the fridge to find something to cook.

Hmm, who is his guest?
