In the dense forest, soldiers armed with swords and spears could be seen killing beasts.
"Hah!"
"Take this!"
Stabbing and slicing. The soldiers were Mortal Level Warriors who were hunting ordinary beasts in the forest.
"Have the Corpse Carriers arrived?", a middle-aged man donned in silver armor asked.
"Yes, Captain, they have arrived", a soldier standing beside him replied.
"Good. Tell them to start".
As the Silver-armored man said, the soldier nodded slightly and turned back gazing upon the four beggars.
Who else could it be other than Tianming and the three beggars.
"Go, take the corpse of the beasts", the soldier ordered.
"Yes, sir", the leader of the three beggars replied as he turned to others and said, "1412, 1413, 1591. Let's go."
"Yes"
It has been ten days since Di Tianming joined the group and he got to know them. These three beggars were apparently brothers. 1411, 1412 and 1413, that's how they address each other since they don't have names.
It has also been ten days since he became a Corpse Carrier.
The experience was not something a man from earth would want. In these past few days he got to know about the wilderness forest that was situated right next to the Xi'An Town.
There were unknown about of beast in this wilderness forest and they were hunted down for their meat and blood by the Town Lord and the aristocratic families of the town.
The beast at the periphery were mostly Mortal Level beast and looked similar to the ones on earth except they were bigger.
Tianming's job as a Corpse Carrier was simply to carry the corpse of these beasts to the Butcher's house located due south of the Beggar's District in the Army Camps.
He also has to carry the corpse of dead soldiers and people to the corpse hill. Apparently these corpse hills have been used to lure the beasts from the depths of the forest to hunt and the beggars are used as slaves known as Corpse Carriers.
When Di Tianming found out about this, he was angry and wanted to quit however, he can't.
Because the Corpse Valley has registered him now, they would keep track of him and if they found no progress in his track record. They would simply hunt him down and kill him.
As for running away. Haha. Where would he run to? The wilderness full of dire beasts or the commoner's district or the aristocratic districts where he could easy be captured.
Di Tianming isn't a powerful cultivator, he hasn't even stepped in Mortal Level 1 yet.
There are even situations when Corpse Carriers are attacked by the beasts and die. The job is extremely dangerous but what could he do about it? Nothing. Not right now.
However, the heaven's hadn't abandoned him yet. Even though the money he earned was barely enough to eat three meals, that didn't mean he couldn't have more food. The three brothers and him would secretly hide some meat of the beast in the forest and would retrieve it in their free time and would cook it and eat.
Danger and fortune come hand in hand.
Currently he was carrying a corpse of the beast towards the butcher's house. As usual the four hide some meat and delivered the beast corpse.
It was night now and the moon hung high in the sky, basking the people of Xi'An town in a silver brilliance.
Tianming was tired from all the work he did all day. He dragged his body into the hut and laid down on the ground.
After a few moments of rest, he got up and started doing push-up.
1...2...3...4...50....100.
----------
[Daily mission: Get stronger.]
[Task:
1. Improve Health - Eat three meals a day (3/3)
2. Improve Stamina - Run 5 km (5000/5000)
3. Build Muscles - Do a 100 push up (100/1000]
[Reward - 1 point]
[Receive (Y/N)]
----------
Di Tianming looked at the status of the missions and received the reward. During this past month the daily missions kept getting harder at any random point but the reward remained the same.
Suddenly, his entire body felt hot. He could feel his blood circulating faster and an extremely comfortable feeling coursed throughout his body.
"Phew~ Status".

As soon as he saw his status, he saw a huge change.
"Mortal Level 1!? Yes! Finally! Woohoo!", he shouted loudly and started running around as if someone injected him with a chicken blood.
He also saw the '+' sign and clicked on it to see what happens. He had a feeling that the points could be used on this.

And he was correct. Excited, he started adding more points to his cultivation until it was 20/20 and the moment he added the next point, he felt the same sensation when he broke through to the Mortal Level 1 now.
He felt stronger.

He knew he could add the rest of the points to his cultivation too but he didn't see any meaning to it. He felt he won't get stronger even if he added those points so he might as well keep them.
Tianming also noticed that his body is starting to get a bit muscular and defined when he looked at his arms and stomach.
Happy, he went to sleep due to exhaustion. This was probably the best sleep he got ever since the day he arrived in this world.
The next day, he woke up and went back to his daily routine - eating, moving corpse, completing missions and resting.
He was excited about the increase in his strength and had a strong urge to test how powerful he was but he didn't.
Why?
During the past month that he had lived here, one thing had been deeply imbued in his mind - 'Actions have Consequences'.
The first time when he recklessly almost entered a bustling market, an old beggar died.
The second time when he was fooled into becoming a Corpse Carrier and he definitely did not want a third time to happen.
For one, he knew he was extremely weak because he had seen those soldiers fighting Mortal Level beast, they certainly were above his level.
So, he didn't do anything about his increase in strength and acted normally.
Days went by. 11 months had passed.
These past eleven months have been very busy for Tianming. He would have to move beast corpse. Man! They worked him like a slave for a mere nine or ten coins a day!
He even had thoughts about killing them. But hell! He was weak.
This was why Tianming has been trying his best to lay low. As his realm kept increasing, his health improved - his skin became tight and rosy, he muscles became more defined and he started looking his age.
As a beggar though, he couldn't possibly have those physical characteristics. It would look suspicious so, what did he do?
He put more baggy, tattered clothes to hide his well-defined muscles and put his face in mud. This way he was able to hide himself and keep a low profile.
Coincidentally, he saw in appearance in a pond and honestly, he looked like a piece of yellow garbage bag. He had short yellowish brown hair which had trash sticking to them and brown skin.
Di Tianming also had a huge leap in strength in these past eleven months

Yes, he was already a Level-7 Mortal warrior. A warrior of this level could easily punch a hole inside a boulder.
During these eleven months he understood a lot about the Mortal Realm. According to Tianming, in terms of Earth's standard, a Level-1 Mortal was comparable to a normal teenager, a level-2 had the strength of an adult. Level-3 was comparable to an Athlete or gym trainer.
A Level-4 was as strong as a Professional combat fighter. Level-5, this had the strength of a Army General, one who could fight a hundred men and a level-6 was a Martial Master.
If Tianming had this Level-7 strength back on earth, he would have easily been titled the 'Strongest Man Alive' but here, that was not the case here. At most he would have become a soldier.
He also got to know about the geography of the Xi'An town through the conversations he had with the three brothers. The town of Xi'An was divided into the Beggar's District, located northwest, the Army Base in southwest, the Nobles in the east along with Commoner's District and finally the Town Lord and the Central Market in the centre of the town.
There was also the wilderness forest covering the North-West part outside the town. The town also had to a gate in the south, the only proper road for entering and exiting the town, serving its purpose as the only mode of transportation for travellers and merchants.
Sadly, though, Tianming couldn't get any information about any outside place like cities or towns like Xi'An from the three brothers as they didn't know anything about it.
