Laurel didn't expect to be attacked by motherly warmth, a hearty compliment to her Beta and herself, and then being offered a meal with the King and Queen.
It stunned her how these people treated her like a famous Princess, and it felt weird because she never experienced it before. She hoped her actions wouldn't show that fact.
The Queen placed a piece of steak in her plate and Laurel stared at it quizzically. She looked at the Queen who smiled brightly. Laurel smiled back.
This was probably how mothers act, she wouldn't know.
Zeldris watched the two maidens literally feed the Beta, who only had to open his mouth to receive the food.
And the maidens did it like it was the greatest honor. Zeldris hid his embarrassed face. Couldn't the spoiled child not act spoiled at the time?
