As Alexis turned the steering wheel, the morning sun cast a warm glow over the sleepy town. The school loomed ahead, its red brick facade standing out against the lush greenery. A gentle breeze rustled through the trees. 

"Are you sure you are not lying?" Alexis steals a glance through the rearview mirror, her brow furrowed with skepticism, as they approach the school gates.

Alisa's grip tightened on the door handle, her knuckles turning white. "No, I am not," she replied defensively. 

Minutes later, they pulled into the school gate, greeted by the sight of parents ushering their children towards the entrance. 

"I will find a place to park the car; you should take her inside," Alexis suggested, her voice calm.
