Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The new year

Date: 31st December 3023 Time: 11:57 PM 

As the clock struck midnight, heralding the arrival of the new year, a kaleidoscope of lights illuminated the city. The air was charged with anticipation, joy, and the promise of new beginnings. However, an uncooperative overcast sky cast a shadow over the revelry, mirroring the storm that lurked on the horizon. Coincidentally, the moon, usually a symbol of serenity, took on an ominous hue – a bloody moon presiding over a night of unforeseen events. Yet, amidst the fervent atmosphere, people remained blissfully unaware as the storm silently crept closer. 

The countdown echoed through the air, a collective chorus counting down to a moment of transition. 

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…" 

And with a resounding "Bang," darkness enveloped everything. 

Day 1: The Awakening 

ZhaoYe found himself emerging from the abyss of unconsciousness into an unfamiliar realm. His eyes adjusted to the dim light, revealing a dark, narrow, dusty, and moist room. As he tried to make sense of his surroundings, a disembodied voice echoed. 

"Welcome, player ZhaoYe. Enter the infinite game; you may choose one of the following abilities for your future use." 

In front of ZhaoYe materialized a transparent screen, displaying two distinct abilities – physical and mental. Focus on physical development or the enhancement of intelligence and cognitive abilities. 

The importance of this decision loomed large, for there was a clear understanding that both options, though powerful, came with their own limitations. Despite the supernatural circumstances and the weight of an imminent decision pressing upon him, ZhaoYe recognized the urgency of the situation. As the timer above the mental option counted down, a sense of determination overcame his worries. He believed that a quick decision was imperative to avoid potential regret. With just a minute to spare, he confidently selected the mental ability, trusting in the power of intellect to navigate the unknown. 

 

"Before the game starts, you may give yourself a nickname to be shown to other players and NPCs. You have 5 minutes before the game starts." 

 

In a moment of creativity, yet not straying too far from simplicity, ZhaoYe typed "Seeker." This alias reflected his aspirations and hinted at the adventurous spirit that fueled his journey. 

 

As the game countdown loomed, ZhaoYe began exploring his surroundings. In the dimly lit room, his hands traversed the barriers, eventually discovering a torch and a lighter on a nearby table. Carefully stowing them in his jacket pocket, he approached a door adjacent to the table. Upon opening it, he was greeted by an expansive, pure-white corridor with countless identical doors lining both sides. 

 

Amid the corridor, others emerged from their rooms, attempting to explore, only to be met with an invisible force preventing entry into other chambers. Confusion and unease permeated the air as people grappled with the enigmatic nature of their surroundings. 

 

Spotting a man in a johnny gown, seemingly unperturbed, ZhaoYe approached him. The man exuded an air of calm as he lounged, unfazed by the surreal situation. A curious woman approached, questioning his lack of fear. The man, cool and collected, responded, "Why should I?" Unimpressed, the woman retreated into her room.Â
