Chapter 70 - Who redeems whom? (1)

Lin Wanrong summarized his experiences from his past life, smilingly saying, "Nothing else, only boldness, attentiveness, and thick-skinned determination, a maxim in seven words."

"Boldness, attentiveness, and thick-skinned determination?" Luo Yuan frowned, questioning, "What does that mean? Can you explain, Brother Lin?"

"Boldness, as the name implies, means expanding one's courage. When you set your eyes on a young lady, you must bravely approach her and strike up a conversation. If there's a mistake, don't give up."

"Mistake or not giving up? Wow, that's a fierce approach!" Luo Yuan and Young Master Guo raised their thumbs together.

"Attentiveness means paying attention to the girl's emotions. Observe when she is happy, angry, her birthday, and even when her menstruation cycle is—"

Seeing the confused expressions of the two, Lin Wanrong hurriedly explained, "Oh, menstruation cycle is her family relative's. Anyway, at different times, you need to appear in front of her in different ways. Sometimes gentle, sometimes dominant, sometimes disheveled. Evoke her dominance, motherly love, and gentleness. Make her feel you're indispensable, and when you're not around, she can't do without you."

This was too profound; the two found it hard to comprehend. Lin Wanrong couldn't explain it any clearer, knowing these things were better understood through practical experience.

"As for thick-skinned determination, it goes without saying. When pursuing a girl, face setbacks without giving up easily. Persevere, be tenacious, fight bravely until she is moved."

Lin Wanrong finished speaking in one breath. Guo Luo and Luo Yuan listened in amazement. Although these methods of wooing were quite unconventional, upon closer thought, they seemed reasonable.

Lin Wanrong continued chatting with Luo Yuan, and surprisingly, their conversation became more harmonious. Despite Luo Yuan's aristocratic background, he lacked arrogance, spoke eloquently, and had a rich knowledge of astronomy, geography, and various oddities. Interested in various peculiar things, he was drawn into the conversation. The three of them chatted aimlessly, and time passed quickly.

In no time, a maid approached Guo Wuchang, saying, "Young Master Guo, my mistress requests your presence."

Guo Wuchang, engrossed in Lin Wanrong's interesting tales, was taken aback upon hearing this, "Who is my mistress?"

Lin Wanrong stood up hastily, "Please inform Miss Qin that my master will arrive shortly."

"Yes, yes," Guo Wuchang suddenly remembered the appointment with Miss Qin, hastily standing up, "This lady, I'll go with you."

Lin Wanrong helplessly smiled; this Young Master was too impatient. He wondered when he would mature a bit.

The maid added, "My mistress instructs, it is imperative for Master Lin and Master Guo to come together. She insists on repaying the guidance of both gentlemen tonight."

Thinking of that charming look from the girl, Lin Wanrong's heart skipped a few beats, and he smiled, "Dear lady, I won't go. My master has profound knowledge; everything I said was taught by him."

The maid giggled, "My mistress said, if Master Lin doesn't come, she will pack her belongings and run away with Master Lin."

"What—" Lin Wanrong, Guo Wuchang, and Luo Yuan were stunned, mouths gaping in disbelief.

This girl wants to play tricks on me, was Lin Wanrong's first thought. If others heard this, they'd probably swarm and beat him up.

To clear up the misunderstanding, Lin Wanrong hastily said, "Miss Qin likes to make jokes. Since the lady insists, if I don't go, it would be ignorant of practical affairs. Young Master, shall we go together?"

Alone, Guo Wuchang might face difficulties dealing with Miss Qin. Though Lin Wanrong had his own intentions, he nodded, "Since Miss Qin has kindly invited us, Brother Lin, let's go together."

Luo Yuan gave Lin Wanrong a sly look and smirked, "In that case, Brother Lin, Brother Guo, you can rest assured; I'll take care of the autumn breeze for you. Haha."

Lin Wanrong found this new acquaintance, Luo Yuan, quite interesting. He laughed and said, "Well then, Brother Luo, let's discuss further when we have time."

Luo Yuan clasped his hands, "Brother Lin, with your talents, Luo Yuan will definitely visit another day."

Lin Wanrong chuckled inside, delighted. This Luo Yuan was quite amusing for a mere servant.

Lin Wanrong and Guo Wuchang followed the maid through the hall and headed upstairs.

The men in the hall knew that these two, favored by Miss Qin, had come to visit. One of them might become an honored guest of this pure and beautiful flower. Admiration filled the air.

Cheng Ruinian, watching their backs, felt frustrated. Unfortunately, his rival Luo Yuan seemed to have made friends with them, leaving him powerless for the time being.

"Miss, what should we do?" Xiuhua asked her master.

The stunning young master lightly bit his lips, saying, "Follow them, let's find out about this Qin Xian'er."

Lin Wanrong and Young Master Guo entered a spacious room on the second floor, tastefully decorated and imbued with a faint fragrance of sandalwood. The walls adorned with calligraphy and paintings puzzled Lin Wanrong. With his eyes, he couldn't recognize the works, but Young Master Guo was surprised. These were masterpieces by contemporary literati. Though not an avid reader, he still recognized their names. He hadn't expected Qin Xian'er, a renowned beauty, to have connections with such famous individuals. This discovery made Young Master Guo feel somewhat inferior.

Lin Wanrong, noticing the change in Guo's expression, inquired, "Young Master, what's wrong?"

The young master sighed, "These calligraphy and paintings are created by renowned contemporary literati. Compared to Miss Qin, I'm truly lacking."

Lin Wanrong, with a better understanding of his master, knew that this young master treated him quite well. He wouldn't stoop to undermining his master's image, so he smiled and said, "Everyone has different fates. There's no need to envy them. Although the room is filled with famous paintings, it seems Miss Qin doesn't value them much. Meeting people throughout the world but having no true friends, Miss Qin's situation is indeed pitiable."

This revealed the difference between Lin Wanrong and Young Master Guo. Facing the same situation, the young master initially criticized himself, while Lin Wanrong saw through the master's mind. The disparity was evident.

After sitting in the room for a while, a maid came to invite Young Master Guo, "Young Master Guo, please."

Lin Wanrong was about to follow, but the maid stopped him, saying, "My mistress requests Mr. Lin to wait here for a moment." Although Lin Wanrong intended to act as a mediator for Young Master Guo, he felt somewhat displeased at being treated this way. He thought, "Why are you acting like this? Later, I'll make you suffer."

While Guo Wuchang was away, Lin Wanrong, alone

in the room, felt a bit bored. After taking a few sips of fragrant pine nut tea brought by the maid, he was about to move around when he heard a woman's voice from the inner room, "Meeting people throughout the world but having no true friends. Mr. Lin, is that what you think of me?"

The pearl curtain lifted, revealing a graceful figure—Qin Xian'er.

She seemed to have just bathed, with her hair hanging loose, rosy cheeks, and a faint smile in her sparkling eyes. A delicate jasmine fragrance emanated from her, highlighting her exceptional beauty.

"So, Miss was eavesdropping in the room. It indeed surprises me," Lin Wanrong smiled.

"Where did I eavesdrop? I've been residing in this room. Mr. Lin's voice was just a bit loud, so I overheard this sentence," Qin Xian'er chuckled.

"In that case, can I be considered an honored guest of Miss Qin?" Lin Wanrong teased.

"Somewhat reluctantly," Qin Xian'er's smile became even more brilliant.

So, this inner room turned out to be Qin Xian'er's boudoir, explaining the elegant decoration in the outer room.

Lin Wanrong suddenly recalled something. The maid had taken Young Master Guo out; wasn't she supposed to meet Qin Xian'er? Strange, did those maids intend to sell out Young Master Guo?

Qin Xian'er, as if knowing his thoughts, covered her lips and laughed, "You're quite smooth-tongued, but don't think I don't know. Those words were fabricated by you to frame me, even involving Young Master Guo. I won't be fooled by your tricks."

Lin Wanrong, not falling for her act, laughed heartily, "Miss Qin, don't worry about who said those words. Just tell me if those words are right or wrong."

Qin Xian'er pouted, "There's some truth in the reasoning, but how can I step down publicly? I am a lady."

Frowning slightly, with a mix of resentment and shyness in her beautiful eyes, she seemed like an innocent little girl, making people want to cherish her. These words, half resentful and half blaming, were hard to tell which part was true and which was false.

Lin Wanrong, knowing her intentions, wasn't fooled. He chuckled, "Miss Qin, you shouldn't care about who said those words. Just tell me if they are right or wrong."

Qin Xian'er, in a coquettish manner, retorted, "There's some truth to it, but how can I get off the stage? Xian'er is a girl."

Qin Xian'er pursed her lips, casting a sidelong glance. Her face held a hint of anger, mixed with a little embarrassment, creating a charming scene.

Lin Wanrong, well aware of her intentions, wasn't deceived. He laughed, "Miss Qin, you don't need to worry about who said those words. Just tell me if they are right or wrong."

Qin Xian'er, in a playful tone, said, "There's some truth to it, but how can I step down in public? Xian'er is a girl."

Qin Xian'er pursed her lips, glancing sideways, her face showing a touch of annoyance mixed with a hint of shyness, creating a delightful sight.

Lin Wanrong, with self-awareness, knew that Qin Xian'er didn't harbor any feelings for him. It was merely a ploy to achieve some goal. Understanding this, Lin Wanrong was at ease, "Miss Qin, since you've sought me out, have you learned the little tune I want to hear?"
