Chapter 41 - Break into Xiao's house (2)

The two portly and big-eared attendants had long fixed their eyes on Lin Wanrong. Now, as he approached, they immediately blocked his way and said, "What's the matter? Don't you understand the rules? You, uncultured youngster."

Lin Wanrong replied, "Rules? What rules? I am a newly appointed servant of the Xiao estate, here to report."

Seeing this new arrival behaving so improperly, the two attendants sneered, "Indeed, an uncultured fellow. Today, we will teach you a lesson. When entering the Xiao family, one must follow the Xiao family's rules. Newcomers and dogs, please enter through the low gate."

Lin Wanrong coldly laughed, "Even a gate must have someone to step on it. Today, I will enter through this main gate. Get out of my way, you two."

"You, you, you're audacious. A lower-class servant dares to talk to us like this? I—I'll show you—" The two attendants were infuriated.

"I am a lower-class servant, then what are you two?" Lin Wanrong retorted.

"Look closely, I hold an intermediate title." The two attendants pointed to the badges on their chests, displaying the word "Intermediate." Lin Wanrong now noticed his own badge, also displaying "Lower."

Lin Wanrong was dumbfounded. What kind of nonsense was this? Even as a servant, there was a need for titles. Did they have promotions and exams for servant titles? Wei, the old man from the Xiao family, was a senior servant, meaning he held a senior title. As for Lin Wanrong, a newcomer to the estate, he was naturally labeled as a lower-class servant.

Feeling uneasy, Lin Wanrong sneered, "I don't care about your titles. I only know that I am a contracted employee."

"Contracted employee?" The two attendants were momentarily puzzled, apparently not understanding what a contracted employee was.

Lin Wanrong, not wanting to waste time explaining, ignored them and shoved them aside, striding towards the gate.

The two attendants were stunned, never having encountered such a bold lower-class servant who dared to defy them on their turf. Together, they shouted, "Stop, you cannot enter. Lower-class servants and dogs are not allow—"

"Enough of your nonsense!" Lin Wanrong raised his fist, landing a punch on one attendant's nose while swiftly kicking the other in the abdomen. In a quick series of moves, the two attendants stumbled on the steps, crying out in pain.

Spitting on the ground, Lin Wanrong pushed open the two vermilion doors.

"Fight! A lower-class servant is fighting! A lower-class servant is assaulting intermediate-class attendants!" As Lin Wanrong stepped in with one foot, the two attendants, who had pretended to be knocked out, suddenly swept past him, shouting loudly, "A lower-class servant is assaulting intermediate-class attendants!"

Hehe, seeing these two attendants slither away, Lin Wanrong found it amusing. These guys were really unbearable.

He was not a good-natured person to begin with. Since he could feed his family with a single meal, there was nothing to worry about. Ignoring the loud accusations of these two attendants, Lin Wanrong walked through the main gate, leisurely enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Xiao family's grand estate.

Indeed, the renowned wealthy Xiao family lived up to its reputation. The courtyard was vast, seemingly endless at a glance. Pavilions, towers, small bridges, and flowing water—all presented a picturesque scene. Countless flowers and plants exuded a fragrant aroma, creating a serene and beautiful environment. Numerous servants and maidservants bustled about, accompanied by the sounds of silk and bamboo music, making it a splendid and lively place.

Luxury, extravagance, Lin Wanrong sighed inwardly. Observing the Xiao family's appearance, he finally understood the life of the wealthy. Although his income in the previous world was not low, and he had witnessed the luxury of many rich people, those so-called villas, mansions, and swimming pools were still incomparable to the scene before him.

Walking and looking around, Lin Wanrong was very satisfied with the surroundings. Although he came to be a servant, having a good working environment would allow him to focus more on his work.

"That guy! That guy!" The two intermediate attendants, who had been beaten by Lin Wanrong, approached with a crowd.

Leading the way was a chubby man with fair skin, goldfish-like eyes, and a proud demeanor.

"Manager Wang, it's him. He's the one who beat us." The two intermediate attendants, with looks of villains, informed.

Hearing their words, Lin Wanrong paused for a moment, then quickly understood. Manager Wang was clearly seizing the opportunity to smear him, portraying Lin Wanrong as having been sent by someone. The identity of this supposed instigator could be left to people's imagination, easily tarnishing another person's reputation. Manager Wang had indeed achieved a lot to be able to secure his position as the estate's manager.

The other servants, however, were not as clever as Lin Wanrong. Upon hearing Manager Wang's words, they became furious.

"Speak up, who sent you."

"Damn, it must be the Wang family in the east of the city. They always like to oppose us."

"Maybe it's not necessarily the Wang family. Many of the servants in our courtyard are jealous of Manager Wang's reputation." One guy shamelessly remarked.

Lin Wanrong glanced at the speaker, knowing that this guy was undoubtedly a stooge.

Sure enough, Manager Wang smiled approvingly at the guy's comment.

"Who dares to disrupt the peaceful unity of our Xiao family servants? I'll go up and hack him to death." The servants clamored, showering Manager Wang with flattery.

Manager Wang looked pleased, smiling at Lin Wanrong. This kid arrived just in time.

Lin Wanrong found it amusing to watch these guys. With this bunch of stooges, life as a servant should not be too lonely.
