CHAPTER 2
As Sam carried the garbage out on a cold winter night, she looked up to the sky and noticed it was a very bizarre sight, it was a starless night it was truly bizarre yet beautiful, She shrugged it off and proceeded into the house and it was warm as always. Her dad and siblings were out, Sam's mom was in her bedroom. Sam sank into the couch and turned on the television, the news was on and the reporter was giving out a warning to all citizens to obey the towns new curfew and be vigilant, Sam rolled her eyes as she thought to herself 'Yeah sure trap yourself at home like the murderer can't break into your home' She said to herself , Also remembering about her new found interest Leo Martinez, For some reason she couldn't get him out of her mind but she had to be careful because her last boyfriend Jake was an asshole who disguised himself as a gentle guy. She started to wondered what kind of girls Leo fancies , She stood up and walked up to her bedroom mirror which had a very distinctive crack at the base from when she and her brother fought over a blanket years ago , Sam shifted her attention to her reflection in the mirror in which her straight light brown hair was tied to a neat ponytail as always , Her piercing green eyes was filled with its usual enthusiasm , She had a few freckles across her nose ,
" I'm pretty desirable "
She thought to herself as she logged into her instagram account and searched up Leo Martinez while she bit her lips hard, a habit she exhibits when she was highly curious, She couldn't find his instagram page which was odd for a kid his age , She shrugged it off as she was trying to find another way to learn about him, she heard a loud bang from downstairs which she quickly jumped down from her bed and went straight for her aluminium bat , She slowly walked downstairs nothing seemed out of place so she moved towards her mom's room, her mom's door was open , She peeked in ; there was no one in the room she called out for her mom, There was no reply she quickly rushed to the phone to dial 911 when she heard the sirens , she guessed a neighbour heard the crash and called the police without haste she ran outside where she met a female detective who hurriedly ran out of her police car to met sam
" My name is Detective chloe carter , I need to know where your mother is right now " the woman said to sam with a grave face .
" I d-don't know, I heard a noise downstairs I went to check and she was gone "
Sam replied with panic in her voice
" What is wrong , do u think she was taken ".
The detective ignored and brushed pass her to search the house, 20 minutes later she came out shaking her head as she passed , sam heard the detective say to herself
" Fuck, I failed "
