Chapter 9 - 9. Troubles

The tranquility of the morning was shattered by the hurried footsteps and anxious whispers filling the halls. In the master bedroom, Bai Chenwu lay on a bed, her face pale and strained. Li Qingchen sat beside her, holding her hand, his eyes filled with worry.

Dr. Lao, the Feng Clan's trusted physician, stood at the foot of the bed, his expression grave. "I'm afraid the situation is quite serious," he said softly. "Bai Chenwu is pregnant with twins, but they are suffering from a rare condition known as Vitality Drain Syndrome. The twins are absorbing more life energy than Bai Chenwu's body can produce, putting both her and the babies at risk."

Li Qingchen's eyes widened with fear. "What can we do to save them?" he demanded, his voice almost frantic. "There must be something!"

Dr. Lao nodded. "There is a solution, but it is not without its risks. There is a rare flower known as the Vitalis Bloom, which is said to contain an immense amount of vitality. It can be found in the treacherous region of the Abyssal Forest. If we can obtain this flower, we can create an elixir that will provide the necessary vitality to support both Bai Chenwu and the twins."

Li Qingchen leaped to his feet. "I'll go myself. I won't let anything happen to my wife or my children!"

Li Tianfeng, who had been silently observing from the corner, stepped forward and placed a calming hand on his son's shoulder. "Qingchen, I understand your fear and frustration. When your mother was pregnant with Qingyue, we faced a similar crisis. You need to stay here with Bai Chenwu. She needs you now more than ever."

Li Qingchen's eyes filled with tears of frustration and fear. "But Father, what if—"

Feng Yuhua, standing beside her husband, interjected gently. "Qingchen, listen to your father. You need to be here for Bai Chenwu. Qingyun, Qingyue, and I will go. We will find the Vitalis Bloom and bring it back."

Li Qingyue, standing at the doorway, stepped forward with a determined expression. "Mother is right, Eldest brother. You need to stay here and take care of Sister-in-law. We'll handle this."

Li Qingyun, his face stern with resolve, added, "We'll get the flower, and we'll come back with it in time. Trust us, Qingchen."

At that moment, a figure stormed into the room, trembling with tension and rage. Bai Linwu, Bai Chenwu's father, grabbed Li Tianfeng's collar, his eyes wild with fear and anger. "Is this how you take care of my daughter? How could you let this happen?"

Li Tianfeng remained calm, gently prying Bai Linwu's hands off his collar. "Bai Linwu, I understand your anger and fear. But this is not the time to lose control. We are doing everything we can to save Chenwu and the twins."

Bai Linwu's eyes filled with tears. "She is my only daughter. I cannot lose her."

Feng Yuhua stepped forward, her voice soothing. "We won't let that happen. Trust us, Bai Linwu. We have faced similar situations before and overcome them. We will find the Vitalis Bloom and save your daughter and her babies."

Bai Linwu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. His gaze shifted to Xie Li, his wife and Bai Chenwu's male mother, who stood pale and frail beside him. Xie Li's eyes were filled with a mixture of worry and trust. "Let's trust them. I remember some years ago, Brother Li also went to find a treasure."

With a deep sigh, Bai Linwu nodded, albeit reluctantly. "Very well. But please, hurry."

Feng Yuhua, Li Qingyun, and Li Qingyue prepared for their journey to the Abyssal Forest, gathering their gear and supplies. Before they left, Qingyue approached Bai Chenwu, who was resting with Qingchen by her side. He gently took her hand, his eyes filled with determination. "Don't worry, sister-in-law. We'll be back soon with the Vitalis Bloom. Stay strong."

Chenwu managed a weak smile, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Qingyue. Please be careful."

Qingchen, his eyes red from unshed tears, hugged his brothers tightly. "Please, bring it back. And be careful."

Qingyun nodded, his voice firm. "We will. You stay here."

They entered the forest, their senses on high alert. The air grew colder and thicker with every step, and the dense canopy above blocked out the sun, casting eerie shadows on the ground. The sounds of unknown creatures echoed around them, a constant reminder of the dangers they faced.

Hours turned into days as they navigated the treacherous terrain. They encountered thorny bushes that seemed to reach out to snag them, cliffs that required careful climbing, and creatures that prowled in the darkness. Despite the challenges, their determination never wavered.

One evening, as they set up camp, a sudden rustling in the bushes caught their attention. Before they could react, a massive beast lunged at them. Feng Yuhua threw herself in front of her sons, casting a powerful spell to shield them. The beast's claws slashed through the air, and Yuhua cried out as it struck her.

Feng Yuhua quickly used her flames and burned the beast alive.

"Mother!" Qingyun and Qingyue shouted in unison, rushing to her side.

Yuhua, bleeding and in pain, managed to smile. "I'm fine, just a scratch. We need to keep moving."

Qingyun tended to her wounds, his hands shaking slightly. "We can't keep going like this. You need to rest, Mother."

Yuhua shook her head. "Chenwu and the twins don't have time. We have to find that flower."

Despite her injury, they pressed on. Their journey took a turn for the worse when Qingyue got separated from them during a particularly treacherous climb. A loose rock had given way beneath him, sending him tumbling down a hidden ravine.

"Qingyue!" Qingyun shouted, scrambling to the edge. But the darkness below swallowed his brother's form.

Li Qingyue shouted with all his might. "Go on brother!"

Yuhua's eyes filled with tears, but she remained resolute. "We have to keep going. He'll find his way back to us."

For over a month, they searched tirelessly for the Vitalis Bloom. Every day was a new struggle, filled with dangerous creatures, treacherous paths, and the constant fear for Qingyue's safety. Yuhua's condition worsened, her injury slowing her down, but she never once complained.

Qingyue, meanwhile, survived alone in the depths of the forest. He used his wits and his training to navigate the dangers, he has a family to return to.

One day, Qingyue stumbled upon a hidden grove, bathed in an ethereal light. In the center of the grove, surrounded by spectral wolves, was the Vitalis Bloom. His heart soared with hope. He had found it.

With a mixture of caution and bravery, Qingyue approached the flowers. The spectral wolves growled and snapped at him, but he fought them off with all his might. Finally, he reached the flowers and carefully harvested them, his hands trembling with relief.

He was injured, it was first time for him to experience pain. The wolves bite him on the legs, arms and waist. His whole left hand was deformed.

But Li Qingyue felt that his pain was worthwhile.

Reunited with his mother and brother, Qingyue held up the Vitalis Bloom triumphantly. "I found it! We can save them!"

Yuhua, despite her weakened state, ran forward. "Qingyue, What happened to you!"

Li Qingyun almost cried. "My baby brother..."

Li Qingyue looked at them, they looked more in pain then him. "Nothing to worry Mom, brother, I have taken medicine."

Feng Yuhua touched his cheek, "My little moon."

They made the arduous journey back to the Feng Clan estate. When they arrived, they were greeted with anxious faces and hopeful eyes. Dr. Lao immediately took the flowers to prepare the elixir.

Inside the house, Bai Chenwu lay pale and weak, her life force dwindling. Li Qingchen sat beside her, holding her hand tightly, his face etched with worry. The twins inside her were barely holding on, their vitality almost completely drained.

Dr. Lao worked quickly, mixing the Vitalis Bloom into a potent elixir. He brought it to Bai Chenwu, his hands steady despite the tension in the room. "Drink this. It will restore your vitality and that of the twins."

Chenwu, with Qingchen's help, drank the elixir. Almost immediately, a warm golden light enveloped her, and her strength began to return. The twins inside her also responded, their vitality restored.

Tears of relief streamed down Qingchen's face as he hugged Chenwu tightly. "You're going to be okay. The twins are going to be okay."

Yuhua, Qingyun, and Qingyue stood nearby, exhausted but relieved. They had done it.

However, now the most worried was Li Tianfeng. His dear wife was injured, His second son was sick and His youngest baby was severely injured.

Dr. Lao worked overtime again, helped them bandage and requested they have long bed rest.

Far away, in a hidden chamber shrouded in darkness, an evil force was stirring. A man, cloaked in shadows, stood before an altar, his eyes gleaming with malevolence. On the altar were five plates, each bearing a name.

The man muttered to himself, his voice dripping with malice. "The time is near. We must awaken the evil ghost. But we need sacrifices—those with the most yin energy, pure and untainted by worldly desires."

He looked down at the plates, reading the names etched into them: Xie Li, Li Qingyue, Li Chen (Son of Li Qingchen and Bai Chenwu), Bai Lin (Twin brother of Li Chen), and Ji Zhiyu (Son of the Sword Sect's Master).

The man sneered, his eyes narrowing. "The newborns... they have the purest yin energy. They will be the perfect sacrifices."

He made his decision, his mind filled with dark intent. "Prepare the ritual. The sacrifices must be made."
