Chapter 33 - All Along the Astronomy Tower

I had a strange feeling the night after exams. Grant and Tim had gone to sleep, but I woke suddenly. 'It's time', I thought, grabbing Maryann's Violin. I left the dorm room and headed to the grand staircase. I muttered as I walked. "It's time. It's time. I'm ready. It's time." It took me a while to get to the astronomy tower; reaching the viewing platform, I looked out over Hogwarts; the night sky was clear, and the moon was high and full, shining Its light over the Scottish highlands. The view was breathtaking. "Now what?" I whispered to myself. I wasn't really sure why I had come here, but I knew it was important. I felt my wand in one hand and the violin in the other. Blowing out a breath, I did the only thing I knew I could. I stuck the violin under my chin and tapped it 3 times with my wand. Spell light came from my wand, creating a bow to play the violin. Hogwarts was awe-inspiring, and John Williams captured magic with his music. I didn't know what would happen when I played, but I knew it would be life-changing. I placed the bow to the strings and started to play Hedwig's theme.

-POV around the castle-

A strange phenomenon was happening in the castle, old spells began to activate that hadn't since it's time of construction, hogwarts her self noticed this and wonder what was going on. Hogwarts was alive; for a thousand years, students had inhabited her and all the magic that had been used in her creation and all the magic that was cast inside her walls had made her become sentient; she could think and feel; she loved her students and loved that they sang to her every year.

But something new was happening, deep underneath hogwarts lay her heart a ward stone with all the seals and magical protection to protect her, that made hogwarts what it was, now a previously dormant part of her was awaking, something left by not the founders or the architect but a wandering wizard. He had been friends with Godric, old drinking buddies. The wandering wizard carried a lute and stayed during the construction, and when construction was almost completed, he left a book in a chamber and sealed it away with a spell he cast with his lute. Now a student had activated that spell somewhere in the castle, the student would be able to find the minstrel's hidden chamber. Hogwarts was excited.

The students in the Ravenclaw dormitory were the first to hear the tune, even tho they were asleep. The dreaming of flying through the sky and dancing with stars.

Filch and Peeves were next to hear it. They were having an argument when they heard the tune and stopped to listen. Peeves started to sway and float with the music. Filch just listened. The music twisted through the halls. Anyone who heard it was mesmerised by the beautiful sounds. The house elves stopped their cleaning to look towards the astronomy tower. Neville in Gryffindor door tower heard the music and he smiled, the rest of the tower had wonderful dreams. Fluffy heard the music and yawned, and all 3 heads fell back asleep. Ron, who was getting up from being knocked out by the white Queen, heard the music; his heart swelled as he saw Hermione coming back to get him; she heard the music as well and felt it pass her. In the chamber with the mirror of Erised, Harry heard the music, his courage and magic raised by it.

"What is that noise!" Voldemort screamed and held his ears. "Get the boy", Voldemort yelled at Quirrell. Quirrell tried to grab Harry, but his hands blistered at the touch. Harry reached out and grabbed Quirrell's face; Harry magic also lashed out, striking Quirrell with force. Quirrell screamed in pain and tossed Harry off him. Harry hit the cold floor, and his vision faded into darkness.

-pov Eddie-

I didn't know what was happening below in the castle. I was watching the sky; it seemed like an aurora borealis had come to take effect, and swirls of colour raced across the night sky. Down below, centaurs stood at the edge of the forest, and mere people had sawm to the surface to watch the sight. I didn't notice them because my eyes were fixed on the heavens. I played I could feel a shift in my magic, this was different my magic wasn't uncomfortable it was free and happy it sang a song with the colours. I guided the magic with my music, to create the work of art in the sky, it was beautiful and I had little understanding on how I was doing it. It came naturally, and my music and magic were in sync. I kept playing when the song should have ended and made a new song as I played with the lights in the sky. I felt my brow start to become sweaty, and I was getting tired, so I slowed the song to an end. Breathing heavily I looked out into the sky, no evidence of my magic was shown. I smiled. I started to walk down the stairs; I got to the first landing and yawned. I leaned against the wall, slid down it and fell asleep.
