Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

A fair-skinned girl was walking in the campus corridor with a blank stare. Both of her hands were holding a small cardboard box containing photos and a farewell letter for her lover for the past three and a half months. The girl's name was Emi. Emi was actually Bara's current girlfriend. Initially, their relationship went smoothly and normally, but suddenly Emi changed and always avoided Bara lately. Emi felt strange from Bara. There was something bothering her heart, something that made her want to stay away from Bara. Something named Angel, and Bara's past.

Emi knew that Bara had loved Angel. Emi also knew that Angel had a used special relationship with Bara, and broke his heart. Emi thought that Bara seemed to still have feelings for Angel, and Emi was just his escape. Emi felt hurt and angry about all her thoughts. She felt as if she was betrayed by Bara and Angel, two people she hated the most right now.

Emi decided to break up with Bara, but she didn't want to do it directly. She didn't want to see Bara's face again, let alone hear his voice. She also didn't want to make a fuss on campus, and become the gossip of people. She just wanted to live her life peacefully and stay away from Bara. That's why she wrote a farewell letter.

Emi arrived at the auditorium, where the student executive board members were gathered. Emi entered quietly, as if she didn't want her presence to be known by anyone. Emi saw Bara chatting with Tony, Robby, and Rey near the stage.

Slowly, she walked softly looking for Jessie, who was in charge of arranging the stage for the new student welcome event tomorrow. Emi saw Jessie sitting with some people she had never seen before. "Jessie!" Emi shouted softly.

Jessie turned around and smiled when she saw Emi. "Hi, Emi. What's up?"

Emi quickly put her forefinger in front of her lips. A sign for Jessie to be quiet. Emi looked back at Bara, making sure that Bara didn't know she was there.

"Please give this to Bara." Emi said as she handed Jessie a cardboard box that she was holding.

Jessie took the box with confusion. "What is this?"

"Some photos, items and a letter for Bara." Emi answered.

"What letter?" Jessie asked curiously.

"A farewell letter." Emi said with a hoarse voice.

Jessie was shocked. "What? Farewell? You mean, you and Bara…?"

Emi nodded as if she understood what Jessie meant. "Yes."

"Why?" Jessie didn't understand. "You guys are fine. What happened?"

Emi shook her head. "I don't want to talk about it. Please, Jessie. I don't want to see him right now. I beg you."

Jessie glared sharply at Emi. She felt Emi was unfair. She didn't want to explain anything, but asked Jessie to deliver a farewell letter to Bara. Jessie felt sorry for Bara, who didn't know anything. But Jessie also didn't have the heart to refuse Emi, who looked so sad and desperate.

"Hmm, okay. Give it to me." Jessie agreed to Emi's request.

Emi then gave the box to Jessie. "Thank you, Jessie. You're the best."

Jessie sighed. "You're welcome, Emi. But, are you sure about this decision?"

Emi nodded. "Yes. This is the best for me. And for him too."

Jessie wasn't sure. She felt there was something hidden by Emi. Something related to Angel maybe. Because Jessie knew very well that Emi didn't like Angel, who used to be Bara's first love. Jessie also knew that Angel had recently been assigned to the same team as Bara, and that made them interact more often. Jessie suspected that Emi must be jealous and think of all sorts of things about Bara and Angel.

The three new students sitting next to Jessie also exchanged glances with each other as they watched the conversation between Jessie and Emi, as if curious about what was really going on with the man named Bara who they often heard since entering their new campus.

Realizing that someone was forgotten, Jessie finally tried to introduce the three new students sitting next to her to Emi. "Oh, yes. Let me introduce you to Jane, Denies, and Maria."

Jane, Maria, and Denies smiled at Emi, and Emi smiled back at them. "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Emi."

"They are new students here. And Jane is Angel's cousin." Jessie explained.

"Oh!" Emi said with a face that suddenly changed to annoyed after hearing the name Angel come out of Jessie's mouth.

Emi felt uncomfortable. She didn't like being near people who were related to Angel. She felt they were all her enemies. She wanted to leave right away.

"Alright! I have to go." Emi said goodbye and left them.

Maria and Denies looked at each other in wonder. They didn't understand why Emi changed so quickly when she heard the name Angel. They didn't know what the problem was.

Jane was also surprised by Emi's sudden change of attitude. She felt bad for making the atmosphere awkward. She didn't know that Emi was Bara's girlfriend, the man who was once loved by Angel, her cousin. She also didn't know that Angel and Emi had a bad history in the past.

"Don't worry, she's always like that." Jessie said, seeing their confusion. "As far as I know, Emi really doesn't like anything about Angel. So, it's natural that when she heard that you are Angel's cousin, she changed like that. Plus, she is Bara's girlfriend right now. That's why she hates Angel so much."

Jessie then stood up and carried the box that Emi had left. "I have to give this to Bara. You guys wait here, okay?"

They all nodded in agreement with Jessie who had walked towards where Bara was. Meanwhile, Denies occasionally looked at the door of the auditorium. Making sure Emi had left the room.

"It seems that girl is very jealous." Denies muttered with a sarcastic tone. He could see from Emi's facial expression before that Emi was unhappy with Jane's presence. He felt sorry for Jane who was innocent. He was also annoyed with Emi who suddenly made the situation awkward.

"You're right. And it's very clear from her eyes." Maria continued, agreeing with what Denies said. She also saw that Emi had a look full of hatred when she looked at Jane. She didn't understand why Emi hated Angel so much. Even though Angel had given up Bara for his lover named Mike.

As for Jane, she just remained silent with her gaze not shifting to look at Bara. She was still very curious about Bara after hearing Angel's regret earlier. She wanted to know what made Bara so special in Angel's eyes. She wanted to know what made Angel regret his decision. She also wanted to know what made Bara choose Emi to be his girlfriend.

Was he happy with that jealous girl? Or did he still hope for Angel? Jane thought with a lot of question marks. She couldn't read Bara's feelings from his flat face. She didn't know if Bara loved Emi or not. She didn't know if Bara regretted his decision or not. She also didn't know if Bara still thought about Angel or not.
