Is love a choice or a feeling that one can't control?
Birds chirped amusely somewhere above the enormous trees that statued unbothered next to my window signaling that the dawn has just rose from an angry bed. How could it be sunrise just yet? I loathed daylight in contradiction to desiring the night. Silence, solitude,Scenery. That's what the night breeds. Maybe I'm too introverted into peace, quietness and darkness or maybe I belong under the surface of the earth. But I'm not much acquainted with the soil so I don't think I will survive underneath....
'Lovely morning,Aunty Bessy.'
'Oh,Ada! You startled me.' Screamed my lovely, devoted househelper who had always been a part of our family for a fair amount of time now. She wasn't used to addressing me with my full name, she had always called me Ada short for Adamma.
'Did I?' I mockinly pretended to think, grabbing a freshly picked up red apple on the counter bowl from our garden. '
"Not at all,you know." She sarcastically said in her rich Russian fancy accent.
"Have my parents left for work yet?" I enquired, taking a chomp of my apple.
"Yeah you just missed them, your father said something about having an early meeting with an abroad investor. And your mom needed to pass by your grandparents to get something." Aunty Bessy replied, wiping off the stain from the kitchen counter.
"I see..."I dragged out in deep thoughts." So..I have an idea!" I exclaimed pretendedly as I walked around the counter to her.
"No!" She immediately denied.
"Why would you disagree if I haven't yet proposed my idea?" I asked, laughing at her reaction.
"Oh,Ada!" She dryly exclaimed, "I have known you since forever. I do not need further statements to support everything you say. I have knowledge of your entire thinking and ideas." She proudly said with both her hands rested on her hips.
"Wow,what a huge assumption you got going on there!" I laughed, knowing very well she was actually telling the truth.
"Ha-ha-haa,you're funny." She said sardonically..
"Care to tell me what you 'assume' I was going to say?" I dragged out the word, assume.
" So I have this idea....I was thinking that it'll be better if I stay in today and skip school because it's not like they're going to teach anything important or better yet, teach anything I haven't yet discovered." Aunty Bessy mimicked my character.
"Oh,noooo!" I laughed out loud, "That's definitely, totally, not even close to my thinking!" I denied, laughing in the process.
She stared intensely at me,waiting for my mouth to betray me and tell the truth.
"Fine!" I said in defeat, "You're right on some few words though." I said.
" Yeah well, you're still lying and im not quite impressed. You're technically my child if ever you've lost your memory." She reminded with a corny smile.
"Ohhhh man." I sighed defeatedly.
I knew there was absolutely no way I was going to win or better yet, convince her otherwise.
"Now,go upstairs and get ready for school or you're going to be late,'as usually'..." She rolled her eyes, "And you are definitely going to be in lot of trouble!"
I was doing my final year study for International Relations and the thought of leaving and starting an entire new life elsewhere rose some chills within my skin but I was also happy and ready for such independency and explorement.
And there he was, standing next to his car with his phone in hand. Looking handsome and dashing with a vintage brown scarf thrown nonchalantly over his shoulder. He wore black formally fitted pants,a black fitted golf shirt which had two buttons disclosed, making him dangerously sexy. His brown hair was styled perfectly to the side while he wore his favorite black sunglasses, and as always he was immaculate, not only in his sense of fashion, but from the top of his well-groomed head to the tips of his highly-polished black shoes. He carried an aura from afar, one so delicate and fascinating.
A rush of excitement hit me at the sight of him. It always overpowered me when we had been apart for weeks or even months. He was without a sense of doubt the only man I had ever loved, the only man I would ever want. Suddenly he saw and his face broke into smiles, contradicting his manly dominant facials. Locking my car,I moved forward towards him as he did the same. A split second later he was holding me in his broad, firmly arms, hugging me to him planting his dangerously sweet lips against mine. I kissed back with a dedicated nervous, feeling every possible electric sparks forming between our mouths, traveling to every skin in our bodies.
That's the thing about us,every contact of our touch brought our skins so passionately alive, everytime like the very first time we encountered.
As I clung to him I thought of how he was truly the only deep fresh of breath personified I was obsessively inclined to,for the survival of my soul. As we drew apart finally, we locked eyes. He cupped the side of my face with his hand and I just gave in,closed my eyes and felt his touch.
"Embracing the sight of you will always travel my soul to another universe so fondly of passion, tender and bliss." He breathed out in his raspy tender voice.
Opening back my brown eyes to his delicately green ones,I found him admiring me like an expensive art.
"Feels like unbearable decades without seeing or feeling your touch." I said softly
"Now that's what I would call a very much oversighted exaggeration coming from your beautiful well curved lips." He said jokingly.
Laughing, I replied,"I am being genuinely truthful right now." I said, giving him my most irresistible puppy eyes,"Yes we might have been over face-timing every day but it's not the same as seeing you, like this." I pouted.
"I get what you're talking about Daff." He flirted calling me with my favorite nickname. Upon being companions,he learnt that I fancied Daffodils more than anything humanly alive. With that,he had came up to calling me Daff from Daff-odils.
"Come to think of it,I came bearing gifts." He pointed out
"Okayyyyyy.." I said hesitatedly as I watched him run over to his car in a second.
"Ohhhhhh Parker!!" I excitedly exclaimed as I saw him coming towards me with a freshly alive bouquet of daffodils in his hand. And a little gift bag on the other hand.
"Daffodils for the most impeccable, breathtaking girlfriend of mine." He cheesed, handing me the flowers.
Closing my eyes and smelling them,I smiled,
"They are so lovely, I love them!" We both said at the same time, him mimicking my set of words everytime I give him gratitude after he bears me with a bouquet.
We both laughed."I might just surprise you by saying thank you in a new way one day." I said,he laughed.
"Well I know you'd have to repeat the same set of words for about ten times everytime I grace you with a new bouquet and I'd just memorize them once again. That's,till you change once again ofcourse." He teased.
"I hate how you figure me out so well and I tend to forget that you know."
"And I got you this." He handed the small bag over to me.
"Parkerrrrrr!!" I dragged out his name, inquisitive as ever as I pinned my eyes on him with a smile on my face.
"Go ahead Daff, open."
"Awwwwww, they are beautiful. I love them." I said madly in love with the beautiful pair of pearls I had in my hand.
"You like them?" He asked, helping me put the on.
"Like them?I love them!" I beamed out,"Thank you so much." I placed a kiss on his cheek.
"Come on,let's get to class before we get into any trouble. Remember, it's our last year and,"
"We can't afford any troubles, detentions or disciplinary hearings whatsoever." WE both said, remembering the promise we made to each other for the year.
Walking together towards the large doors that were months from determining both our future, we disappeared behind it.
