We arrived at the island by car, driving over the bridge from Ember City. The sight of the two bridges, one from Ember City and the other from Conflagro City, excited us. The clear blue waters and sandy shore looked amazing, like something out of a postcard.
"Wow, this place is beautiful," Greg said, his eyes wide with wonder.
"Yeah, it's stunning. I never thought Veilhaven Country had this kind of place," I agreed, feeling amazed, while Vince nodded.
As we stepped out of the car onto the island, feeling the warm breeze and hearing the waves, it felt like paradise, untouched and serene.
"This is amazing," Greg remarked, taking in the scenery.
"Absolutely," I replied, feeling the same awe.
Vince smiled, looking determined. "And I'm going to build a mansion here."
As we wandered the island, Vince's excitement was palpable. He couldn't wait to share his vision for the mansion.
"I've been dreaming about this for ages," Vince said, a smile playing on his lips.
His eyes lit up as he described his plans for the mansion's tech features. "Picture this: smart lights, automated blinds, even a voice-activated kitchen," he said, his voice rising with enthusiasm.
I chuckled. "Sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie."
"But it's going to be real," Vince insisted, his tone confident. "We'll have the latest gadgets at our fingertips, making life here a breeze."
Vince really became talkative when it came to something he really liked. Especially when it comes to money and technology.
The conversation shifted to security, and Vince's expression turned serious. "We need to keep this place locked down tight," he said, his voice low. "No outsiders, no exceptions."
Greg nodded in agreement. "Agreed. We need to feel safe here like nothing can touch us."
While they were busy chatting and planning, my phone rang and I answered it.
The person on the other side of the phone spoke hurriedly, "Attorney Castro, we have another urgent case to solve."
"I'm currently in Veilhaven Country now. I'll come back tomorrow morning. Anything else?"
"I will just wait for your return tomorrow and give you the details by then. Sorry for disturbing you," he said in a humble tone.
"Okay, see you tomorrow," I hung up after saying that.
Looking at the happy faces of Greg and Vince, who were busy daydreaming of how they're going to live their life here, I can't help but feel guilty.
Is there still a chance for them to live a normal life? The kind of life I wished to live before when I was still a kid.
Seems I've been dragging them down too much to my path of revenge. They deserve a normal and happy life.
While I have no right to be happy anymore. My family died miserably partly because of me. This life of mine now only lives for revenge.
I won't stop until I bring justice to my family's death and bring down those people with me to the hell I am living!
Clenching my fists so much while having those thoughts, I returned to my senses when I heard Greg loudly say, "Come on Vince, a grand hall is a must! It's for celebration and parties."
"No! There's no need for that. I don't want other people coming here. This place is only for us," Vince retorted.
"But you know my situation. I have the Protector Agency with me. My people need wide space for gatherings."
Vince became silent for a while, thinking before saying "Fine! But you must pay the costs of building that with your own money."
"Bro! You know I don't have any money with me. I didn't even know it was your card that I was using. Come on, I know you love me the most. What are brothers for?" Greg instantly looked at Vince with pleading eyes.
"Right, I forgot you're no longer a student. Give me back my card now. Time for you to earn your own money." Vince extended and opened his hand, signaling Greg to give him the card.
"Bro, you know I just graduated last month. Let me use the card for a while, okay?"
Sigh. These two surely love to argue with each other.
"You two, Greg and Vince, let's go back to the hotel now," I urged them trying to stop their banter.
They followed me back to the car. Greg was no longer in the mood to drive; instead, he sat next to Vince in the back seat trying to please Vince. So I'm the one who drove us back to the hotel.
Once inside the hotel, I told them to come with me to my room as I had an important thing to tell them.
Facing each other while seated in the living room, I give Greg an envelope containing documents.
"What is this, Bro?" Greg asked while reaching out for the envelope.
"My late gift for your graduation. Open it and see what's inside."
He hurriedly open the envelope.
"This is a certificate of ownership of a real estate company under my name? Laurel Real Estate Ventures? Bro, is this serious?" Greg's eyes were wide open.
"Do I look like I'm joking to you?" I give him a side-eye.
"Just give it to me if you don't want it," Vince chimed in while looking at Greg as if looking at an idiot.
"No! This is mine! Brother Blaze gave it to me." Greg hurriedly hugged the envelope, afraid that Vince would snatch it.
Sigh, these two will gonna banter again.
"Enough, you two. I still have more important things to say. Listen to me carefully." I told them while massaging my temples.
They immediately stopped and looked at me eagerly waiting for my next words.
"Greg, I want you to manage that company and make it a number one real estate company in Veilhaven. You aren't allowed to return to Sparks Country until you didn't achieve that."
"No way! Bro, this is a joke right? Come on, how can you tolerate not seeing me? I'm your favorite brother, right?" Greg retorted.
"I'm serious, and my decision is final. I will return tomorrow morning to Sparks Country. You and Vince will stay here. Vince will facilitate the development of the mansion he wants to build. While you manage the real estate company." I look at them seriously.
"By the way, Vince, I want you to buy me land at Gonus City. I will send you the layout of the house that I want to build there. You facilitate it too."
"Also, don't forget to continue keeping an eye on those leaders for me."
