Chapter 12: An Unexpected Incident

At Arcane Haven, the students were busy with their classes, learning about the rules and laws that future heroes would follow.

Melvin's physical fitness is increased alot thanks to professor Alistair.

Currently Melvin is training in class of miss Karin

[Events of 1 week ago:-

"Another usual day, Melvin was going to train with his statue training but it seems miss Karin have some addition in melvin's training"

Melvin: (curious) "Eh...why the dumbbells today, Miss Karin?"

[Melvin sees two dumbbells attached to statues today]

Karin: "Well i told you.. i will be increasing weight while you progress, those dumbles are 40 kilo each making both statues 80 kilo."

Melvin: (a bit disappointed) "Seriously? I just got comfortable with 40 kilograms, and now this?"

Karin(scolding): "SHUT UP AND DO WHAT I SAY! YOU WANNA BE STRONG OR NOT?"

Melvin(Dramatic cry): "Ohk mam" T_T

Karin: "Mm.... Don't think am giving you much pressure, i know another person who have telekinesis and can lift more than 500 kilo weights."

Melvin: (surprised) "Really?"

(Thoughts: Someone else knows telekinisis just like me too!? I wonder who that person is.) ]

[Current day]

While Melvin was focused on his training, a sudden incident caught him off guard. An iron ball came hurtling toward him, but Mirata was quick to notice that.

*Ice wall*

Mirata created an ice wall to stop the iron ball from hitting Melvin.

--

[Author note:- Yes i am revealing mirata's power now, cause didn't got chance to do in earlier chapters]

--

Melvin: (surprised) "Huh? WHAT THE!"

Mirata, visibly relieved: (exhales): "Phew~ That was close."

Melvin(confused): "Mirata! What in the hell was that!?"

Mirata: "That iron ball was straight coming towards you. You almost got hit."

Melvin: (grateful) "Thanks, Mirata. If it weren't for you, I would've been hit. But where did the ball come from?"

Mirata expressed his concern: (worried) "Idk either, that was strange. Seemed like someone might've thrown it on purpose..."

Melvin: (intrigued) "On purpose? But who would do that?"

Mirata: (not sure) "Hard to say, might be by accident too. Anyway, be careful. Imma go back to my training now."

Melvin: (appreciative) "Alright, bye and thanks again for saving me!"

After their classes ended, Melvin and Leo headed towards their dorm rooms. Leo noticed that Melvin was walking like a tired zombie.

Leo: "You good, dude? You're walking like a zombie." (Leo noticed Melvin's exhausted state)

Melvin (tired): "Ugh, it's nothing. The statue training just exhausted me a lot. Not to mention, I almost got hit by a giant iron ball today." (Melvin's tiredness was evident in his voice)

Leo: "Iron ball!?"

Melvin: "Yeah, it came out of nowhere. You should have seen Mirata save me... Hey, by the way, where do you stay during ability classes these days? I don't see you in the hall." (Melvin recounted the incident, still surprised)

Leo: "Oh, my claw training is done now. So, I'm trying to learn a new skill staying in lab nearby."

Melvin (grinning): "Haha, the lab of all places?"

Leo: "Don't laugh! It's part of learning. I need to learn about animal anatomy and structure, which I want to replicate, and also memorize their DNA and genetic code. It's not easy work!" (Leo's frustration was evident)

Melvin: "Whoa, I didn't know you had to do that much study to improve your power. So, what kind of skill are you improving now?"

Leo: "Um... I'm trying to learn jellyfish tentacles, so I can stun my enemies. I don't have any strategic skills right now. But it's too hard! Marine mammals are complicated to understand." (Leo's struggle was apparent)

Melvin: "Ah, I see. Stun would be a great skill, huh. But wait, you can replicate a tiger too, right?"

Leo: "Uh, yes, but why?"

Melvin: "Well.. i once heard that big predators like tigers have a paralyzing effect in their roar too. Their roar fills their enemies with fear, making them paralyzed."

Leo: "What!? For real?"

Melvin: "Yeah, you could try that, right? If you can replicate a tiger's throat and voice box in you."

Leo: "Wow, that's an amazing idea! Haha, didn't expect you to give any ideas about animals. Thanks, dude."

Melvin: "Excuse me! I grew up watching Animal Planet on TV, so I know a thing or two about them." (Melvin playfully defended his knowledge)

After a while of resting in their room, Leo remembered something.

Leo: "Oh, I remember. I'll be going to the library from today."

Melvin: "Heh, the library?"

Leo: "Yeah, I need many books from there about animals. So, Mia suggested me to go. Plus, you won't let me study here, so..." -_-

Melvin: "What? I'm coming too then!"

Leo: "Huh, why do you want to go? It's not a place for playing or something."

Melvin: "Come on! I've been bored here anyway. I'm coming too."

Leo: "But what are you even going to do there?"

Melvin: "I'll decide after reaching. So, let's go!"

Leo: "Ugh..." (Leo expressed his slight annoyance)

Leo and Melvin arrived at the library, and Melvin was completely taken aback by its vastness.

The library's expanse left Melvin in awe.

Melvin (surprised): "Oh my god!! It's so huge from the inside, Aaaaa!"

Leo: "Geez! Keep your voice down! We don't make noise in the library!"

Melvin: "But I'm so amazed! This place has like thousands of books, Aaaaa!"

Leo: "STOP SHOUTING! Are you acting like you've never seen a library before?"

Awkward silence settled, akin to the sound of crickets in the background.

Melvin: "Well... I literally haven't... (^_^)"

Leo: "Heh? Are you serious? How come?"

Melvin: "Well, I told you! My town had nothing! Not even a library, so..."

Leo (sighs): "Alright, alright."

Leo's sigh carried a mix of exasperation and understanding.

Melvin: "So, what are we doing here?"

Leo: "I AM GONNA GO READ MY BOOK! And as for you, you can decide as you said in the room!"

Melvin: "Eheh, fine. I guess I'll find a book of my interest."

As he explored different sections, Mehul's eyes widened when he stumbled upon something familiar: the "Manga and Comic" section.

Melvin (amazed): "What the!! Manga! We even have this in the library!?"

His voice reflected the genuine astonishment he felt.

Melvin: "Hehe, I guess I found my interest! Let's see which manga I can read."

His excitement grew as he anticipated diving into the world of manga.

Melvin reached for a book and began examining it, only to spot Aria standing right beside him. Their eyes met, a moment of recognition passing between them.

Melvin: "Aria!!?"

Aria surprised: "Ehh! Melvin!? You here?!"

Their reunion sparked a mix of surprise and joy.

Melvin: "Yes, I am! But... I didn't expect to see you here too!"

Aria: "Ah, well... I come here... daily!"

Aria's sheepish smile hinted at a routine that Melvin wasn't aware of.

Melvin: "Ah i see... And wait, you being in this section means... You like manga and anime too!???"

Aria (smiles embarrassed): "Umm hehe, yes, I love them. I've always been a story lover, so..."

Aria's admission carried a touch of shyness.

Melvin: "Omg!! Aaaah! Finally, someone who likes them too! Aria, you're the best!" (Dramatically crying)

Aria: "Hehe, chill, it's no big deal."

Aria's light chuckle suggested a fond amusement at Melvin's enthusiasm.

Melvin: "It is! You see, you're the first person I've met who likes it. In my town, everyone used to laugh at me because I like manga and anime!"

Aria: "Oh, that's bad! They shouldn't judge anyone based on their likes."

Aria's empathetic response highlighted her compassionate nature.

Melvin: "Exactly!! You're really understanding!"

Their connection deepened as they bonded over their shared interests.

Engaged in conversation, they found a cozy spot and began to enjoy their selected manga.

While Aria and Melvin sat together, engrossed in their respective books and sharing the occasional chat, Aria suddenly turned back, her expression filled with surprise.

Melvin (curious): "Hmm? What's up, Aria? What happened?"

Aria staring at particular side turning back: "I think... someone's watching us."

Melvin: "Huh? Why do you think that? It's a big library with many people, so anyone can look at us."

Aria: "No, it's different. I sense that someone is specifically stalking us, with bad intentions actually... I can sence it."

Melvin (intrigued): "Wait, how exactly you sensing that?"

Aria: "You see, every living thing has an aura inside them, and my aura is specifically warning me about some person's bad aura."

Melvin: "Wow, that's cool! But who could be watching us?"

Aria: "I don't know... Well, let's continue reading; it might just be someone from other class."

Melvin: "Mmm, okay."

As they returned to their books, time passed. Suddenly, from a distance, a knife was thrown, hurtling directly towards Melvin.

Aria sensed the impending danger and immediately raised her hand: *Aura shield*!

She employed her aura shield to halt the knife in its tracks.

It took a moment for Melvin to comprehend what had just transpired: "Huh? AAAAAAA!"

Both of them were startled, frozen in their places.

Melvin (panicking): "What the heck is happening today!"

Aria (relieved): "It's a knife! Someone was trying to attack you, Melvin! I'm glad I sensed the knife before it could hit you!"

Melvin (grateful): "I'm really thankful to you, Aria!"

Aria: "It was nothing. I'm just relieved that you're okay. But who would do such a thing?"

Melvin: "I have no idea... And I think someone threw an iron ball at me this morning; it might be the same person."

Aria (worried): "What? You were attacked this morning too?"

Aria's concern grew evident on her face.

Aria: "That's it, this is too much now. We need to report this to Miss Karin and the security staff."

Melvin: "Wait, Aria... There's a piece of paper wrapped around the knife."

Aria: "Paper? Is it... a letter?"

The chapter came to an end, leaving questions about the mysterious incidents hanging in the air.
