The worn wooden tires of the carriage trundled along the rugged path, bundled with small blunt rocks and small sudden ditches within the ground every now and again.
The various bumps became more prevalent, as they went, causing the carriage to rattle and jump as it desperately attempted to stay upright.
The path they initially took to get to the inn felt empty, but this place had a feeling of absolute isolation from any other forms of life other than their own for at least a few miles.
There was however one obvious landmark, the vast cerulean blue grass covering the entire terrain, slowly dancing in the wind.
Leaning half his body outside the edge of the carriage Somniya sulking himself into the dirt, eventually unable to contain his boredom blurted "So… the thing you wanted me to see was absolutely nothing," overcome with boredom.
"I didn't say I wanted you to see anything only that I wanted to take you somewhere," Eve replied with obvious undeniable logic.
Although his initial excitement shattered to pieces Somniya couldn't deny "Definitely fitting of the word somewhere…"
"You wanted my help didn't you, this is the best option trust me," she continued.
Eventually, the cart took an abrupt halt jerking Somniya's resting head to the wall of the carriage. "Ow!"
"Well, we're here," Eve announced allowing Somniya to hear her leap from the carriage landing on some soft ground.
Rubbing his forehead Somniya sat upright to investigate his surroundings. Yet there was absolutely nothing.
Somniya found himself in a vast grassland, the sun gently setting over it.
Stretching as far as the eye could see, a wide and empty field unfolded. The only thing you could pick out was its extraordinary surreal landscape which released a somewhat peaceful tranquillity.
The grass beneath was not the familiar green but a brilliant shade of cerulean blue Somniya couldn't decide whether this was normal or not.
The azure grass swayed gently in the breeze, creating a mesmerizing dance of colour that shimmered like a tranquil sea.
Each blade stood proudly, catching the sunlight and reflecting it in a soft, ethereal glow. The air carried a faint scent of freshness as if the very essence of the sky had descended to mingle with the earth.
Hesitant with astonishment Somniya's feet perched on the grass.
"Okay hurry up let's set up camp and start right away," Eve commanded taking a boundless bag from the back of the carriage near where Somniya had been resting.
Eve pulls out some type of folded green fabric from the boundless back and says "Okay… here we go." As she begins fiddling with it a bit away from the carriage.
"What?–
fuck-
oh my-
dammit-
ugh-
come on-"
Making little to no progress as she battled with the object.
"Um, let me have ago don't look that hard?" Somniya asked in sympathy walking up behind Eve.
Frustrated Eve throws the green folded object into Somniya's chest "Here, take it! Good luck!"
Almost effortlessly Somniya pulled apart the metal rods within the fabric and within a short time, it formed a large oval tent.
Drowning in absolute shock Eve's gaping wide mouth with a mix of embarrassment frustration and amazement stared at Somniya as he looked cluelessly at the green tent. It had two netted windows on either side.
"How the hell…Hahaha!" All of a sudden every one of Eve's emotions was exchanged with bursting laughter as she clutched her stomach with one hand and hid her face with the other.
"What? what?" Somniya questioned completely confused by Eve's sudden change.
"Sorry, it was just. Somniya was always good at stuff like this, he could always take care of anything complex or mechanical and enjoyed it too. One of the many parts I loved about him."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitting cross-legged beside the warm cosy crackling flames of a campfire amid the cool embrace of the night, casting its golden glow on the faces of Somniya sitting cross-legged behind the fire and Eve standing up straight in front.
The sparks of the flames danced in a hypnotic rhythm, their radiant warmth dispelling the chill in the air and creating an intimate haven in the wilderness.
The green tent was not far behind them, and to the left the two dragons so peacefully rested in front of the cart making them feel more like small puppies, rather than powerful mystical beasts.
"Okay first lesson, we have to talk about the basics of magic, any pre-schooler will know this much:"
"People that cast magic spells are referred to as soul casters because the mana used to cast spells are predominantly revolving around the category and condition of your soul.
There are four different types of spells: Basic spells, advanced spells, attuned spells, and sacred spells."
"Every spell is cast via a rune; these runes aren't physical although they can be to more easily cast spells although with limited uses.
Otherwise, the runes can be learnt to be cast within your mind this takes more effort to learn but is a hundred times more useful.
It's a lot easier to say the runes out loud to help you envision them as well.
This allows you to cast the spell at a higher level, faster, easier and stronger, which you have heard me do multiple times.
Although you can cast spells without saying the runes out loud and have it have the same or even greater effect, but you need a higher mastery of the spell to do this." Eve explains pacing back and forth slowly, her chin up to the night sky and her arms interlocked behind her back.
"You can also usually distinguish the type of spell based on the beginning of the rune:
El = offensive magic most of the time.
Bar = Supportive magic: mobility, healing, defending etc most of the time.
Quel = are enhancing abilities, most of the time-
Somniya's frustration finally peaking he sighs as he sighs "God! Do you know how to teach what do you mean most of the time, most of the time, most of the time?! Which is it?!"
"So rude stop interrupting I'm the one teaching I was getting to it!" Eve scolded.
You'd be terrible at school, anyway-.
Although those are their basic uses for the spells with creativity they can be used in more versatile ways. You didn't see it, but the old man that helped us get away used an offensive spell of ice spikes to defend me from a blow despite its type."
"Next advanced spells, these are similar to basic spells however are usually a lot stronger and therefore more difficult to cast with a higher mana cost."
"In order to cast spells, you need to use mana, you can learn to conserve your mana and gain even more mana through meditation or repetition training, or just using high amounts of mana in reps."
"Next attuned spells, some people are born with an affinity to a certain type of magic these people are referred to as attuned.
They are able to manipulate the product of their attunement in multiple ways to basically create their own version of spells. Take it as they were born prodigy or loved by a certain type of magic therefore it becomes a part of their soul itself."
"Some people are attuned to special magic above the normal earth, water, fire, and wind which anyone can use."
"This doesn't mean people attuned to those types are weak. For example, look at me I'm attuned to earth," Eve says proudly placing both her hands on her hips with a sharp smirk.
"Boring." Somniya retorts with an unamused frown, his chin resting on his right hand.
"Shut up!" Eve demands her eyes twitching from Somniya's remark.
"Anyway people with special attunments are able to access magic of any other type which can go from ice lave steel to bubble gum paper saliva and even more."
"Cool I wonder what I'm attuned to I bet it's gonna be something amazing like lava! No, the sun!"
"He-he I don't think so…" Eve giggled solemnly.
"Okay finally sacred spells, These are spells that are up to limitlessly stronger than all the other categories of spells, these spells can usually only be accessed by people within the correct bloodline or they can be found in sacred souls and be absorbed to have access to the runes.
Otherwise, it'll just be impossible to draw the runes in your mind no matter how much you try."
"Woah those sound cool as fuck!"
"Just like my golem."
"Oh."
"WHY DID YOU SEEM SO DISAPPOINTED NOW!"
