Soon, Juan left his backyard and headed toward the village entrance.
Along the way, he met men walking out of their houses with their bows and other tools.
"Hello, I'm a new villager, Juan. Please to meet you." Juan greeted the man near him amiably.
The first impression is always the clearest. The man has already noticed this new villager.
When he heard and saw him being friendly, he also returned the greeting.
"Oh, it's our new villager Juan. I've already heard about you. I'm Weis; we'll be neighbors from now on."
Juan felt some relief after receiving a good response. His social anxiety somehow became well-behaved today too.
Could it be because he's new and hasn't truly come to accept his situation, or is it the opposite?
Well, it would be harder to continue living here if he were to become an outcast.
"Well, sir Weis, I see you gearing up early in the morning. Could it be that you're a hunter?"
Juan asked. Sometime ago, he had just realized something almost unthinkable.
That is, he had been communicating with the villagers in the same language.
And this language wasn't the language he had grown up with or any language he had heard or known before.
This could only mean one thing!
Along with his isekai package is the language plug-in!
Although he was saying and hearing it in another language, he could understand it and even replied to them in the same way.
It is truly one of the marvels of the Isekai fantasy troupe.
"Yes, it's time of the day again to hunt for animals in the forest. Hmm? Could it be you want to hunt too?"
Weis looked at him up and down before he shook his head and then said,.
"You looked like you haven't trained yet to become one, but to be able to comes out of that place."
"You may have something up your sleeves or just blessed with luck. Hmm. How about you start practicing first?"
Juan nodded and didn't deny.
"Yes, I'm indeed still green in this area. I wonder how I can learn?"
Juan had to ask in advance; he might need it not just to hunt but to survive in the wild.
Although he knows his feat of coming out alive from the grassland seems to be quite an achievement,.
There's no way he would be so stupid as to flaunt it outside and recklessly use it as an excuse to enter the hunting team into the forest.
"There's a practice area here where the free veteran hunters teach those who want to learn how to hunt for free."
Weis then told him the place before leaving with the other hunters. They seem to be very busy, so he didn't delay them any longer.
Juan gave his thanks before he left and continued to walk forward to the entrance.
He met the other villagers along the way and greeted them one by one.
Naturally, he had to introduce himself to them as a way of integrating into the village.
Then he learned a lot of information along the way. The villagers were very friendly, so it's quite easy to communicate.
"This is a village, huh? It's my first time living in this new place, and they're so friendly. Could this be the newbie privilege I hear about?"
It's just the first time people will find you novel and will get your good books.
But after some time, those facades will disappear because it's tiring to do it at almost every meeting.
'Though I doubt if those women would even get tired of it.'
Juan stepped out of the village entrance and greeted the two sleepy guards leaning with their butts on the ground.
After the usual greeting and some chit-chat, he resumed his journey.
...
At the edge of the river bank.
Apparently, they called this never-ending river the [River of Guidance]. Because it guides those who are lost in the grassland and forest with its flow.
The one who named this river does indeed understand what it symbolizes in this kind of place.
Now, while he was chatting along the way with the villagers, he actually acquired rather valuable information.
That is, fish are quite a scarce commodity and hard to catch right now.
Although they can make fish traps, it wasn't quite enough to catch the bulk of them in one go.
Not because their fish traps weren't that good or bad.
"It seems that they couldn't catch fish a month or so ago. Could it be caused by that unknown monster that I passed by back then?"
It can't be ruled out since it's quite normal for prey to run away in places where their predators stayed or passed for a while.
"Then those fish might return again in a few days. Hmm? Then wouldn't the river have nothing for me to fish right now?"
Ugh, and here he was just thinking of catching some and selling them for money.
He wanted to use that money to buy some tools at home, though.
"No choice, huh. Then I should return and ask someone for a job." Juan listlessly turned around and returned to the village.
"Since I need someone who knows the village well—the one whom I can at least ask around,"
"Then there is no doubt about it; it should be the village chief or his younger brother, Jura."
"Their words and recommendation are more effective than the others whom I don't really know." He decided he would go with them first.
After returning to the village, the guard at the entrance greeted him and asked.
"What's up? Back so soon?"
Juan shook his head as he replied, "Nah, just washing my face for now and a little walk for warm up."
"What the, so it's just that, huh. Hahaha, well, welcome back."
Juan nodded wryly before leaving them.
The two guards looked at each other and then suddenly grinned.
"Our new neighbor seems to be a bit of a joker."
"You said it; I don't."
"Hey, I'm not belittling him; it's just telling you some jokes."
"Yeah, yeah."
Juan was already quite far away, so he didn't hear their words. Even if he did, he wouldn't look at them and cause trouble.
...
In the village, there are commonly known jobs in every place.
Blacksmith, potter, tailor, farmer, carpenter, hunter, and laborer.
Just from the name alone, anyone could already understand what their jobs can do.
Any of these jobs is a high-paying one that can solve his current crisis.
"This era should be quite easy to make money, but here I was with no idea to think. What have I been learning all those twelve years of compulsory education was for?"
With no tools or any immediate use of knowledge in hand. It doesn't matter if he came from a modern or advanced era.
If he can only use those things but doesn't know how to produce them properly, his time advantage means nothing.
"It looks like I should work as a labourer first and earn some pocket money."
!!!
Juan suddenly stopped as his eyes widen in disbelief. He came up with an idea just now.
He had just remembered something he almost thought was useless just now!
What could the village that seems to have entered the Iron Age right now need aside from physical needs?
"The answer is always within me—a scholar!"
Well, at this age, he could indeed be called a scholar who can do math, read, and write.
"I can find a job with just my knowledge and experience in mind!"
And so, he went to find the village chief excitedly after asking around.
It's quite easy to find the village chief's house because it centers in the village.
"Oh, just in time."
The moment he arrived, he was immediately noticed by Garu, who had just walked out of the house with another person.
"Village Chief, good morning."
Juan bowed a bit in greeting; after all, he was now a villager under the village chief, Garu.
The latter nodded and laughed suddenly.
"I was just about to find you. But here you are, coming to me instead. It looks like you're more excited about the tour than I thought."
Did the village chief somehow misunderstand his arrival? Juan was puzzled in his heart but did not show it.
And then he suddenly remember what the Village Chief said to him yesterday. He remembered it should be someone like a tourist guide going to help him?
He totally forgot about that one.
"I told you yesterday, didn't I? That I would send someone to help you around the village. She will be the one to do that, and also she is my second daughter—Ceth."
Juan could feel his stomach churning just now after hearing that.
It got him so suddenly that he wanted to do nothing but to stand there like a zombie.
'So this is the reason why I felt so uneasy after hearing those words you said yesterday, huh—willy old fox!'
Though he was cursing inside, he showed a look of surprise outside for show before his gaze moved to the person stepping forward.
Juan received some surprises, though; this one isn't just for show.
But it truly did come from the heart after seeing the second daughter of the village chief, Garu.
'Oh my.'
