In a split second, Andrew's instincts kicked in as he sensed the presence of his enemies. Without wasting time, he activated his book totem and channeled five units of mana and mentality to unleash his innate rank-one [shadow jump] spell.
His body vanished into the shadows, and just in time, he avoided a deadly dagger aimed straight at his neck. Adrenaline rushed through his veins as he flickered back into existence from the shadow of a tree a few meters away.
He quickly cast a couple of rank zero light orb spells, illuminating his entire surroundings as he braced himself to face any other potential sneak attacks from his enemies.
"Was that a Shadow Jump?" A deep voice bellowed, echoing through the dark forest.
