Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Wait For Infection!

In the wake of their failed attempt to take over Phoenix's apartment, Mira, Annie, Sun, Peng, and the others found themselves in a dire predicament. Not only had their plan backfired, leaving them injured and vulnerable, but Mira's sudden decision to abandon them for a chance at a better life with Phoenix only added to the turmoil.

As Peng lay in agony, undergoing a precarious surgery performed by Lydia, his heartache was compounded by Mira's betrayal. Her claims of pursuing happiness and the justifications she offered for her actions only served to deepen the rift between them. Mira, driven by desperation, seemed to have lost all sense of loyalty and camaraderie, leaving the group to fend for themselves.

Annie, incensed by Mira's selfishness, firmly stated that Mira could only leave if Phoenix provided them with the much-needed medicine. Iris, equally outraged, barred Mira's way, leading to a physical altercation between the two women. The struggle was intense, reflecting the high stakes of their situation. It was only when Annie intervened, striking Mira multiple times, that some semblance of order was restored.

In the midst of this chaos, Mira reached out to Phoenix once more, pleading for help. Phoenix's response, however, was cold and calculated. He toyed with Mira's emotions, feigning concern and interest in her, only to ultimately refuse to help. His manipulation was evident, as he seemed to take pleasure in exacerbating the group's despair.

Annie, realizing the gravity of their situation, took matters into her own hands. She contacted Phoenix, attempting to negotiate the release of Mira in exchange for the medicines. Phoenix, however, remained unmoved. He expressed his fear of being ambushed and used the situation to further torment the group, suggesting that they might take Mira hostage to continue demanding supplies from him.

Mira, upon hearing Phoenix's insinuations, was left feeling even more desolate and betrayed. Instead of hating Phoenix, she directed her anger towards her former allies, blaming them for preventing her from reaching the safety and comfort of Phoenix's apartment.

Meanwhile, Lydia did what she could to treat the wounded. Without proper medical supplies, her efforts were limited to removing the arrows and stopping the bleeding, but she warned that without antibiotics, the risk of infection was high. The group was left feeling helpless and fearful for the future.

Annie and the others were now faced with the harsh reality of their situation. They had alienated Phoenix, their only potential source of medical aid, and were left to confront the consequences of their actions. Mira's betrayal had only added to their woes, leaving them more fragmented and vulnerable than ever.

In this new, unforgiving world, their survival hung by a thread. The choices they made in desperation had led them to a point of no return, with each member of the group forced to confront the lengths they would go to survive. The hope for a better future seemed more elusive than ever, as they grappled with the harsh realities of their new existence.
