Chapter 57 - Little Rocket Man

"I'll keep that in mind," I chuckled, trying to inject some humor into the tense situation. I carefully positioned her so her back was to my chest and her arms were securely wrapped around my torso. "Now, hold on tight and whatever happens, don't let go."

Before she could protest any further, I took a deep breath, braced myself, and, with her in tow, leaped off the wall. As we plummeted toward the ground, I could feel Lilliana's grip tighten, her body tense against mine.

"Just a little further," I whispered, tapping the deploy mechanism of the glider built into my armor.

Suddenly, the fabric wings unfurled with a whoosh, catching the wind and arresting our descent as we glided out and away from the wall. Below us, the mass of undead soldiers seemed to ripple like a dark sea, undead eyes trailing our flight.

Lilliana let out an exhale that sounded suspiciously like a suppressed scream, and I smiled at her bravery, but that was the easy part.
