"Hell...I'm in hell that's has to be it" the roar of artillery cannons and hiss of giant Lazers drowned out my voice not that I would hear thanks to the ringing in my ears
" snap out of it get the shell in the cannon hurry " grabbing the artillery shell in front of me I hobbled over to the ww2 like cannon aimed out of a big opening shoved the shell inside then stood back with my ears covered and my mouth open
The next second The roar of the cannon made my body hurt as the spent shell was ejected ignoring it grabbing i grabbed another shell repeating the process over again for I wasn't sure how long
Feeling a tap on my shoulder I turned around to see a big burry man with three eyes yelling at me " your shift is over head back inside " it took me a second understand him thanks to the ringing and cacophony of sounds
Shuffling out of the big guys way I made it to some flight of stairs leading downward before leveling off into a main walkway
I eventually made it to the little cabinet like space that served as my sleep space it was surrounded by many other some if them inhabited with people sleeping or...having fun
I was too tired to care plopped on the mattress that served as my bed falling asleep almost instantly ' I regret coming here ' was the last thought I had even though I didn't have a body anymore my soul still needed to rest every now and then
I was currently inside the giant wall I first saw when Illian brought me here he had taken me to where I could get registered into the city's system everything was fairly advanced and worked a lot more like my old world the only difference was it seemed like I was the only human here damn near everyone was a different race except the main people of the city who looked like four armed yetis
After that I was taken to a high tech church building by Illian who stuck around longer then I thought he would to help me but he had to leave after taking me there if he didn't worse things would start attacking the city's walls that they couldn't deal with at least that's what he said
Inside the wired church the priestess there told me it was very hard to reconnect with mana or any other mythical source When your just a soul but they had something that may help of course it was free
when I asked him what the quickest way to make money was. He just said " the wall " so that where I went and signed up for it's defense
It was worse then I thought it would be luckily sense I'm nothing extraordinary they just have me helping out the artillery lining the wall which was a lot of work because there were thousands of them so I was dead tired after spending the last few days up running around the wall
At some point I a woke to something heavy slithering on me it wasn't entirely unpleasant though at least until the pressure on my groin increased
Sighing heavily I sat up coming face to face with a yellow eyed green scaled lamia who looked more like a snake then a woman she also looked a bit cartoonist the normal rules could be bent a little here
" boo...you always wake up before I can get to the fun part " it was a bit weird even though everyone here was dead most could still feel things like normal so you can guess what the main activity was with a bunch damn near immortal souls who could still feel and have tons of endurance
I have never been one to shy away from different races or species in this case so if I was married I would have given in to her it's not like she wasn't cute
" selsa I keep telling to stop doing I'm married " she chuckled finding what i said funny they always did

I had yelled that loudly without meaning to most around me stared at me with contempt others with pity they remembered being new here not wanting to accept their new reality

Selsa put her tail over my hand that was gripping my leg tightly " let's go eat something we have been up straight for a few days it will be nice" I nodded slightly standing up when I did she locked her arm with mine leaning her head on my shoulder
Shaking my head I made my way to the ' rec room ' with Selsa clinging to me
we first meet a couple days after I arrived here we were working the same sector when that part of the wall was attacked by a stray winged creature the strange metal of the wall wasn't able to withstand the things attack so it was able to bust in and grab a hold of her when I was nearby
somehow I managed to get the thing to let her go and help her to safety ever sense then she as been attracted me like two peas in a pot ,two birds of a feather, two cannibal midgets in a fat guys ribcage...you get the point
As much as I hate her constant advances honestly I'm thankful for her presence these last few weeks
Eventually we got to where we were going an sat down to eat in a secluded corner which was a bit hard with the amount of people here even though we didn't have real bodies all living beings still enjoy eating something tasty
As I was eating what I hoped was a steak a floating being that looked like a more solid jellyfish in the shape of a animal I couldn't make out approached
" I see you two are together again " a normal yet alien voice gently entered our minds I was use to him doing this so I was to surprised

table started vibrating looking over I saw a human like creature wearing a jester mask they were slapping the tabel with their palm stopping after we turned
The man, woman or whatever they were didn't do anything for a second before waving at us in a friendly manner " hey jest it's nice ti see you again too " they never talked so I usually interpreted they didn't seem to mind
Together we started eating our meals
my maybe fake steak ,selsa' piece of rib meat, wezz had a plate of blue jelly, I wasn't sure what jest was having because their plate had nothing though they seem not to think so
Half way through our meal one of those four armed yetis walked in" ghost your reassigned to the stockade for your next shift" they have a very deep voice so I almost didn't understand what they said I tried to protest but they were already gone the most of them didn't care for the opinions of other species thinking themselves superior
" you know it's useless complaining to the yeťis they don't care " i heard a gently voice in my head
Sighing I finished my food then got up to leave to try and get some more rest until my shift in a few hours of course selsa followed me " don't you have anywhere else to be" I said laying down in my bed trying to sleep but it was hard with her next to me
" I swear I won't try anything...this time " I didn't have time to deal with her the stockade was going to be a rough time so I needed all the rest I could get
Suddenly she pulled me close to her hugging me from behind I wanted to struggle pull away and yell at her but the way she held me was just like Elise gently and....with love
My eyes started to water as I thought about my wife, her gorgeous smile the way she always had to neatly put away her clothes before we did anything i even missed her stern looks she gave me when she was angry
then i pictured our daughter her looking up at me wanting me to pick her up or how after I came home she would always run to me tackling me into a hug
Thinking of all this I couldn't hold back my emotions anymore I started crying unable to hold it " I'm really not going to see them again am i " she did say anything just held me closer as I cried my eyes out until my mind slipped away into unconsciousness
I woke up to my side vibrating and a loud beeping sound realizing that it was my alert I jumped up in a hurry to get to my position
I got stopped by selsa grabbing my hand still sleepy from my alert waking her up" be careful.... I believe you will meet your family again so don't throw your soul away " smiling I gently pulled her hand of me putting next to her " thank you " I whispered into her ear then i kissed her forehead
I could see her tail pointy tail moving under the blanket as I stood up again making my way to a giant lift full of different species and supplies
